Chuck Palahniuk's Haunted.
I agree. I think all Palahniuk would transfer well.

All of H.P. Lovecraft's books. They have to be done right though which means us Americans can't shoehorn in a a stupid romantic subplot when it is being made because to my knowledge there isn't any women in most of Lovecraft's stories.
There are loads of Lovecraft adaptations. Most of them aren't very good. I liked the last 10 seconds of From Beyond. It captured the madness that characters would feel when faced with a Lovecraftian world.

I'm going to say.

House of Leaves - I'd hope the film would scare me as much the book but it probably wouldn't.

All the rest of Dan Brown's books. Seriously, that guy has talent.
You must be culled.
I liked 'em. Is he really that unpopular?
Dan Brown is a bestseller. That means he's popular. Doesn't mean he's talented.
If you enjoy it though, I won't begrudge you.

I read the Da Vinci code. I found it unsatisfying.

Which other Authors have you read?

Isaac Asimov's Foundation
I'm not sure if that would make the best movie, it's a good book sure but it's a very slow pace. If anything I'd do one of his other novels like End of Eternity or something.
I agree that Mr. Asimov is a great thinker but a poor storyteller. However, this would make an unique movie, don't you think? To put the emphasis on the thoughts and not on actions. Certanly not something for the masses, but it would become a stuff of legends.

Hmm... The Sellswords trilogy by R.A. Salvatore might make a good movie/series of movies. As long as they didn't bone it like they usually managed to...

Artemis Fowl. I read the first three books in middle school(apparently more have come out) and it would be cool see the story play out on the screen.

Frank Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns would make a decent animated movie.
in the 90's there was talk about a live action movie. Clint Eastwood would have been brilliant back then.
Hmm... I don't know; I'm having trouble visualizing a Clint Eastwood on steroids. [insert laughter]

Would love to see a decent Discworld movie makeover, not the cheap made for TV rubbish
Your first post is literally exactly what I was going to say, to the word.

When I read "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card a few years ago, I was sure someone would adapt the book for film. Unfortunately I'm still waiting. What book have you read that would make for an awesome movie? Bonus points for director and actor recommendations.
From Wikipedia:

Orson Scott Card released the latest of his author-written screenplay adaptations to Warner Brothers in May 2003. David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were later signed to write a new script, working closely with director Wolfgang Petersen. Card later announced that he would be writing a new script not based on any previous one, including his own.[14] Following the departure of Petersen from the project and Card's self-described refusal to "condescend to green-screen Hollywood," Card announced in February 2009 that he had completed a script for Odd Lot Entertainment, and that they had begun assembling a production team. [15]
Exciting! Thanks for the info!

Artemis Fowl: Hard to screw this one up... oh wait, i forgot about Harry Potter... nvm then

Anything written by RA Salvatore that has Drizzt Do'Urden in it. Pls let Peter Jackson direct this one...

Anything by Alastair Reynolds. Directed by James Cameron. The eye candy alone will be a sci-fi fan's wet dream come true...

Any Matthew Reilly Book.

Not a terribly eloquent writer... but his ideas would make amazing action films. Also the plot isn't deep enough to ruin through crappy book - film translation.

If they were actually true to the books, I think I'd enjoy seeing Good Omens or the Abhorsen trilogy.
Same with Ender's Game, though someone said it's in development, so it'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

The Lottery by Beth Goobie, it's not like it was a GOOD book, just so that the students in my school could just WATCH the shit as opposed to READ it and spend a considerable amount of less time doing so (watching not reading)

seriously, this book made me SO angry, it's supposed to 'relate' to teens/youth and I found myself thinking, the whole time reading it 'NO ONE i know has had this happen to them, or have had a friend happen to, this book is garbage, the writer is garbage and our teacher is garbage for making us read this garbage
