That's a hard one. I guess when you have to kill Lambert in Splinter Cell: Double Agent. But he's not really a boss. So, Jack Knife from Mirror's Edge, he seemed cool.
Faith was the only character I liked. Not that the other characters were lame (except that blond chick, whatever her name was), they were just uninteresting. But thats just my opinion.

on the topic of fire-emblem though, I played the one which had Roy in it (no.6 i think for Japan, the one before the Eliwood one that was the 1st released in America) and at one point i had to kill a guy who wasn't the boss of the level, but was enough a boss to have a name, a face, to be friends with at least 2 of your other characters but for some stupid reason wouldn't be convinced by them to join your team! and not only did this happen once, with a man who was "General class", but also with some legend of a "wyvern master" later on, who looked so so sooo damn awesome.
It's Sword of Seals that's Fire Emblem 6, and I will never call Blazing Sword the first game, just saying.

The General was Douglas I'm pretty sure. If you managed to keep him alive during that chapter, you unlock 16X and he joins you then. And it isn't really a stupid reason. Imagine, you are the highest ranking officer in the military and joining a side that has been made to look like a bunch of bandits probably would seem like high treason to pretty much everybody with power.

Just surround him with units that you took their weapons from that can either take hits or dodge tank and heal them.

Gale is unrecruitable and he isn't required to die, but it's implied he never survived the war anyway. It's even more depressing when you speak to him with Miledy, his lover, and Zeiss, her brother.

I'm guessing the game ended for you when you defeated Zephiel didn't it?

Mysterio - Spiderman 2. That guy was so damn fucking awesome. That boss battle still goes down as the single greatest boss battle ever conceived.
Haha, after that boss battle, I sat there for five minutes thinking "the fuck was that?".

OT: none really, except Mysterio.
I loved all the health bars. I was thinking... Oh shit.
Yeah, I was just sitting there watching them go up thinking "holy crap, there is no way I can survive this".

The devs of that game had a great sense of humor.
I actually know the guy who designed that level, he has a great sense of humor

The Big Daddys from Bioshock; they're not bad guys. They're placid until provoked and they've been genetically conditioned to attack threats to their Little Sisters anyway. When not found wandering around with their Little Sister, they're generally performing useful tasks around Rapture like repairing things.

Saix from Kingdom Hearts II. I mean sure he was ruthless and manipulative but he did it all just so he that he could have a heart to actually feel with and that just struck a cord in me.

Any boss who I have to kill, just because he has a different philosophy on life. It allways makes me feel like an arse.

Especially the bruce campbell narator/voice over guy. He was really funny.
Oh yeah, although I got pissed at him after the game sort of messed up and made me play the tutorial 3 times...

Ninja'd. One of the few times I actually had trouble pulling the trigger.
Indeed this. I sat there half expecting it to have him shoot her on its own as if it were a cinematic, but after about a minute I realized it wanted me to. That made me sad. D:

I can't say I never thought of it like that, but we don't know (or I don't know, I've been avoiding the trailers) what Saix was like before he became a Nobody. So I'm not going to agree with you, but I'm also not going to disagree with you.

Saren Arterius. He is the epitome of just barely going too far. Before he lost control over his actions he did nothing but serve the galaxy. Then in an attempt to save billions even trillions of lives he attempted to control a power he could not comprehend.

His Suicide Death is one of the only moments I had to pause a game and think about what had just occured.

Did he deserve to die? In his indoctrinated state absolutely. But outside of it he was just like any other individual who strove to create a better future and had it backfire. It made me so sad to see him die not because he was a good guy, but because what happened to him could just have easily have happened to anyone else in his position.
