Tie between Sander Cohen and Andrew Ryan from Bioshock...mainly because Ryan was just a victim of another's revenge and Cohen was just a nutty person who gave me jollies

It's Sword of Seals for FE6. The General was Douglas I'm pretty sure. If you managed to keep him alive during that chapter, you unlock 16X and he joins you then. Just surround him with units that you took their weapons from that can either take hits or dodge tank and heal them.

Gale is unrecruitable and he isn't required to die, but it's implied he never survived the war anyway. It's even more depressing when you speak to him with Miledy, his lover, and Zeiss, her brother.

I'm guessing the game ended for you when you defeated Zephiel didn't it?
wow, you're good with names, because i'm very sure those names are the ones i meant XD and i didn't know it was possible to recruit Douglas, but i knew you couldn't get Gale (which depressed me greatly).
and wow, you're correct there too XD i really couldn't be bothered to play through the game again though to try unlock an alternate ending (i had a feeling i would get the same one again >.<) so i youtube'd it. and i must say, Zephial wasn't even a challenge for my Roy, who for some reason leveled up every stat possible each level up... i'm not sure if its meant to be like that or if maybe my copy was just faulty.
I highly respect your Fire Emblem Genious

Now onto Kingdom Hearts, i only remember feeling sorry for Saix when he stretched his hand out to.. well, Kingdom hearts, but that was quickly gone when i realised that he was a nobody and thus didn't actually have emotions to care for himself. and when a video game character is actually made to have no feelings in the first place, and doesn't really exist on top of that, i don't know, i just find it hard to truly feel sorry for them. I also felt sorry about Braig (sorry, Xigbar), as hypocritical as that seems, but now its not only because he's my favourite and evidently the most awesome Organisation member, its also the fact that he seemed to have so much knowledge over this whole keyblade affair, which Sora could have maybe got if you weren't forced to return him to nothingness there and then.
A Kingdom Hearts character i would have felt sorry for is Riku from the first game, you know, when you fight him in a dress (he's wearing it) over Kairi's body, but i couldn't feel sorry for him because is easily one of my favourite game fights ever and having given that to me i could only express thanks!

Well here's how you unlock all the alternate chapters if you're interested.
Chapter 8X: Lilina must survive chapter 8. Reward: Durandal
Chapter 12X: Seize throne in chapter 12 by day 20, Lalum/Elphin (depending on which route you took for 10 and 11) must survive. Reward: Armads
Chapter 14X: Seize throne in chapter 14 by day 25, Sophia must survive. Reward: Forblaze
Chapter 16X: Douglas must survive chapter 16. Reward: Douglas and Aureola
Chapter 20IX: Seize throne in chapter 20I by day 25, Zealot, Thany, Tate, and Yuno must survive. Reward: Malte
Chapter 20SX: Seize throne in chapter 20S by day 25, Sue, Shin, and Dayan must survive. Reward: Miurge
Note: 20I and 20S are alternate routes based on the levels of your nomads and pegasus knights and you will get the other divine weapon in 21.
Chapter 21X: Seize throne in chapter 21 by day 30, Miledy and Zeiss must survive.
Chapter 23 to the end: Defeat Zephiel in Chapter 22 with all Divine Weapons intact and held by your characters, they cannot be in storage. Fa must also survive. Reward: The best ending and 3 more chapters.
I'm here to help for the three GBA FE games.

I would have to say the Colossi in Shadow of a Colossus, GLaDOS, and The Boss in MGS3
my feelings exactly

and I'd like to submit Loghain for dragon age origins, I spent the whole game foaming at the mouth at the thought of finally chopping his head off, and then right before the end when his backstory starts to come to light and he gives that heartfelt, noble goodbye to his daughter, I just sat there for 10 minutes trying to decide what to do with him. If he doesn't die Alistair leaves, but it was my 'good' file so he had to die oddly enough.

Not bosses, but (Tiny ME2 spoiler below)

the Tank-Grown Krogen in ME2

I don't know why. They are vicious and will mangle me if they get close enough to use the shotgun, but the big glowing eyes on their helmets make them sort of cute in a weird and unexpected way. Plus the one that you meet before going into the B.S. compound. So, so innocent...

Xion. Not only is she the only person left that Roxas trusts, but every one loses their memory's of her when you kill her.
This. not only for the reasons above, but if Roxas died in that fight, he'd just join with Sora, which was supposed to happen anyway. I almost considered losing. Almost.

Have yet to play a game where the boss didn't come off as either:

A) Evil
B) Douchebag

Then again, I haven't played many of the games that try to make you feel sympathy for the characters. I'm one of those hybrid gamers: half "frat guy" casual/half hardcore.
