I wouldn't say that it ruined it, but the hacking minigame in Mass Effect pissed me off.

Amazingly clever puzzle platformer that that fell flat on its face due to lots of clipping bugs and a generally unfinished feel. If you can get past all that (not that you could since there were items that just couldn't be picked up), the game is absolutely fantastic.

Halo 1. The Library. That level made me want to puncture a hole through my tv with the controller.

Trauma Center : Under the knife (i think thats what its called anyway)
twas a pretty good game.. aside from the retarded 'draw a circle to magnify' parts....
'im in the middle of surgery.... what does it matter that the circle i drew isnt your idea of the perfect circle... i just want to zoom in/out! what other reason would I be making frantic circles in anger?!'
basically it made some surgeries impossible.... therefore.. the game unplayable....

Do you have any fickle love between some brilliant game, ruined by some ridiculous fault(s) you can't believe the designers missed, or even something that just doesn't feel right for you? The first game to come to mind would have to be Alone In The Dark, for it's incredibly high glitch count, boring characters and stupid ending. I'd mention more games, but I have a very long hit-list.
I agree with this, Alone in the Dark could have been great, but instead blew chunks; though I still enjoyed it a lot.

i know most people hate far cry 2 anyway but i thought it was a great game and the game ending glitch which stops you from progressing with the story happened to me twice right near the end of the game so i had to do it 3 times.

Fallout 3. Would be pure brilliance if not for the omnous cloud of glitches lurkng directly above.
That can be solved with simple modding, thankfully.

Well, for us olypian super-pc-gods, anyway.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it ruined Oblivion, but I thought the melee combat was pretty awful.

Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit outside the US) is one of my favorite games, but the second half of the story gets a bit ridiculous. Still tremendously fun, but I wish the story didn't veer wildly off track after the encounter on the roller coaster tracks.

And the Assassin's Creed developers had more time and added variety to the cities, it would probably be a near-perfect game in my opinion.

STALKER has some undeniable lack of polish. Scripting errors, bugs, the list goes on and on.
And yet, the atmosphere. It's incredible.
It well exceeds Fallout 3. That's right, I said it!

Good call. I found I wasn't being huge enough with the circles. Just goes for broke around the general area. I've not had any problems since. It's the faecal clotting in the blood areries I'm having problems with. It is one tough game.

Gun. Would have been amazing if things didn't get retarded near the end (ordinary human enemies somehow taking a shotgun round to the face and just shrugging it off, etc.).
I loved Gun, but it really bugged me that once you've completed the main story there is very little to keep you playing, which is a shame because it had a huge game world that is barely explored in the story. Some more side quest would have been great, in addition to the handful of bounty hunter missions. Also the game world was kind of empty considering it's size, like why did all the Indians disappear after the mission with them in, their territory is totally empty from then onwards, also for some reason I wanted a moving train to go across the map, dunno why!

agreed.

also, i loved diablo 2 LOD, but hated having to keep up with the constantly changing demand for runes in order to trade for good items (though not enough to uninstall it and lose act 5). not really the developers' fault though

Fable 2: there were no challenging opponents and the market was flooded with overpowered experience potions which would be expensive if I didn't get a seemingly infinite supply of gold from the rent/taxes I got from everyone in Albion.

guilty gear 2:eek:verture, the regular levels are fun but the boss fights are frustrating and almost impossible
