Spore. They had a good idea going, attracted the attention of many years before it came out. The entire concept of evolving/creating your own creature and gradually taking over the planet with it was brilliant.

Then the game came out. And the developer threw away all the evolving and creature creation aspects less than an hour or two into playing for space! Space without ever seeing your creature again outside of small little communication panels and annoying voices.

I heard that they released a new Spore better implementing your creatures into scenarios for space... But why did they fail to do this in the first place? You would think that someone evolving their own creation would want to be able to play them throughout the entire game.

Far Cry 2 - having to repeat the same missions to unlock weapons in the weapon store. In fact they should've eliminated all the side missions in that game.

Knee High Walls! Oh my! [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main.InsurmountableWaistHeightFence]

OT: Resident Evil 4 and 5. The archaic controls/inventory systems completely killed both games for me.

Grand Theft Auto III

I recently acquired a copy and I loved what the game was trying to do. I just found myself fighting with the awkward control scheme more than anything else, so I uninstalled. When getting from point A to about a foot away from point A is an insurmountable obstacle, there is something seriously wrong.

The sad thing is, I purchased this game in the recent three pack that includes Vice City and San Andreas but of all the improvements they likely made in the latter games, I doubt if tighter controls was one of them.

All of them except maybe Sonic, but he's weak as piss until he gets his smash ball and strokes it, 'my precious'. Ganondorf is just retarded, his moves look crap compared to Melee's and he has been nerfed to death. Meta Knight is probably the only character I enjoy playing, at least he can combo and his overpowered moves give very satisfying results if used well.

twas a pretty good game.. aside from the retarded 'draw a circle to magnify' parts....
'im in the middle of surgery.... what does it matter that the circle i drew isnt your idea of the perfect circle... i just want to zoom in/out! what other reason would I be making frantic circles in anger?!'
basically it made some surgeries impossible.... therefore.. the game unplayable....
Good call. I found I wasn't being huge enough with the circles. Just goes for broke around the general area. I've not had any problems since. It's the faecal clotting in the blood areries I'm having problems with. It is one tough game.
It is, i would've beaten it if it weren't for the part where you have to treat 5 patients in ten minutes
But i really couldn't stand some of the stars on Super Mario 64, even though i love the game so much

Oblivions voice acting. it didn't ruin the game, but it was a point in its disfavor

Far Cry is a brilliant game in many aspects but the thing that ruins it for me is the saving system. It hasn't got quick save and the autosave isn't very frequent. It just delivers more pain since the game uses healthbar instead of self-degenerating health.

All the game made by BI (Bohemia Interactive).
Operation Flashpoint (OFP 2 is NOT made by the same company/people that won the awards for OFP 1. But that something Codemasters never wants to let go)
Arma
Arma 2

Stop calling loosing all weapons in the water a game design and start calling it a bug.

Far cry 2 would have been epic had it not been for the fact that everybody bar the few people in the dmz atttacked you on sight( or even before they saw you) and that enemies re spawned the second you looked away.also why did the ai seem to think that getting in a car and runnin over ypu was always the best plan of action?!!
I agree. With more african civs would of made that great and why the hell would africans use an unreilable Jeep over a Toyta Hilux/Landcruzer????

I wouldn't say it was "ruined" but Saints Row 2 was definitely hampered by glitchiness and lazy coding.

Empire: Total War

there's so much wrong with this game. Bugs and Crashes are one thing, A BIG THING, but the worst bit is they didn't tidy up.

There's loads of crap lying about the stats and gameplay of this game that were once to be included, but then cut from the game late stage. So you have random traits for characters that improve characteristics that affect things that don't even exist.

You get a mention about something that isn't there, you get random hints of awesome things that never were.

It's like an artist shows you a crayon drawing on an A peice of paper stuck over the Mona Lisa (or, more fittingly, the diorama of Waterloo): You can see the poor quality of the product, but more aggravating, you can Just about make out the awesomeness they drew over
Frankly I think your holding back. I can unequivocally state that Empire Total War has been the shoddiest most uninspired piece of plop in the last ten years (& Im including Starship Troopers 2 in this comparision). For those fanbois who think it works Im happy for you for those of us who know better it is unrepentantly broken and is a defintive step backwards in the franchise. Some of the flaws are hardcoded & unfixable some of em just total oversight. Most spectacular is the 'Multiplayer campaign' being printed on the box when it was moinths away from completion.

To a lesser extent the constant crashing, wiping & general weakness of the campaigns & woefully inadequate AI that bartered land for a coin but technology is priceless has a few fundamental problems.

The three continents are broken, buggy, pointless & increase the likely hood of crashes making you fight on one continent at a time to avoid crashes.

Note the amount of times I mention the word crash. Its a facet of ETW even for the die hard fanbois who claim it works.

My favourite fault is the ships distance travellable. The computer calculates all possible paths including ones you cant make, meaning whenever you click on a fleet your CPU useage spikes usually leading to a crash. You cannot turn this feature off. If you research ship movement speed bonuses all your fleets crash until you add specific types of ships. Please note having these types of ships in fleet doesnt help. As a special bonus the enemy fleet AI also has the problem except he doesnt know about the bug & will click on his ships in his turn crashing the game.

As an added bonus the actual fleet combat is piss poor with utterly random results. I have captured a Man of War with 120 + marines with 15 man galleon. Thats how broken naval warfare is.

For the first 2 months pre patch enemy attack directions were random ignoring terrain.

Land battles are dull beyond belief, specialist units are too few in physical numbers to make a difference against a 120 infantry line unit. So armies tend to consist of only Artillery & 19 line. Also this is the 5th iteration of Total War & the units are still limited to 20 units a side.

Siege warfare is beyond a joke as the AI goes quite frankly mad & runs up & down in front of your cannons for 15 minutes. It is possible to score more than 300 kills for every battery using cannister & some clever positioning.

I could go on but Im boring myself. Its not that the game is horribley rushed, broken, insipid, a step down from its previous incarnations, poorer AI & arguable graphic quality. Its that a mod made 2 years BEFORE it is infinitely better & creates more realistic combat results.

Empire Unfinished War is more like it.
Magnificent, completley summed it up.

To be honest, yes, I held off, if only because I didn't want to get into a downer all day.

I just popped back on here to get your "Qouted" message because I quit ETW. I thought "hmmm...the AI can't deal with a human, what about another AI?" So I set up a 2v2 match with 1 full AI army per side and me and a spanish light cav. I wiped out that cav and sacrificed myself on the guns, then sat back and watched the fumbling retard logistics bash into each other and burst into confused tantrum tears. If you can't programme a computer to even stand in a line and shoot properly, then you've defeated the point of the era.

Each unit latches itself onto one enemy unit with an "attack" command, and will cross over each other into bizarre X shapes rather than battle lines so they can shoot THAT particular unit they've been assinged to kill. they shoot each other in the back on the head and get confused.

It's pathetic, in an upsetting way.

ganon retarded? *larf larf larf* i havent been beaten so far with him (only had the game for 3 months, without wifi) by any of my friends. the warlock pawnch is almost an instant KO after 40-50% and thats ridicolously easy to reach with his attacks. and if all else fails, theres always the banzai grab.

Anecdotal evidence. By people that play Brawl competitively (yeah, yeah... it's funny and stuff), Ganon is the worst character in the game. He has no approaching options, moves slow as hell, and has no good matchups. In short, Ganon is horrible.

theres something called an opinion, mr. negative. i dont care if ganon is slow. right now, your copying straight of Smashwiki. just like with Captain Falcon, i can easily say that my opinion would probably turn the "list" upside down, because all my favorites are in the buttom tier except Snake, Wario, Wolf and Bowser.

again, fuck lists. Ganon is my favorite character, and you cant prove me wrong on my own opinion.

To reinforce what's already been said; Fallout 3, loved it the first time through but everytime I play since then I just seem to encounter more and more bugs.

Also, Motorstorm; no split screen multiplayer? why would you not include that in a racing game?
