Star Wars the Force Unleashed, stupidly hard boss fight and restricting your use of the force kinda ruined it
Also, the fact that the game all too aften pulls some huge dick moves: You get enemies who are immune to certain force powers, like the shock troopers who are lightning proof and use those unblockable tazer guns that spaz you out every time they hit. Those troops with the yellow bullshit anti-force grip shields and flame throwers. But the worst 1 of all, has to be those 7 ft tall metallic 'purge' troops! What, so you can use the force to tear a star destroyer out of the sky but you can't pick up a fucking meesly 7ft tin man!? Even worse, hitting them with your lightsabre doesn't even phase them, in fact their only reaction is to give u a nice big bear hug to thank you!

You can use an almighty force push to clear out entire corridors of anything that isn't bolted down but you can't deflect missiles that come at you. Why? You can do that in Jedi Academy, why not here?

Overall, I think the devs were so hung up on awesome offensive abilities that they completely neglected to include decent defense

I'm going to go with Half Life 2: Episode 3. It's one and only fatal flaw is that it hasn't come out yet.

I'm going to agree with this, I got Total War day of release, tried to fight through the sheer amount of tiny annoyances that kept piling up and quit it after 3 hours to go back to Total war: Medieval 2. The main thing that got me once the sheer amount of time it took for each AI to take its turn, at some points it took as much as 15 god damn minutes for them all to perform all there actions , what was even more infuriating was that half the time they would just send there armies to one point and the next turn would send them right back to there they had been, ad infinitum.

I'm guessing the game will be playable in another few years or so and then I might give it another chance as it has so much promise.

FFXII in general had so many missed oppertunities and strange decisions, like why was Vaan the main character in the first place? A brief scene explaining why Vaan and Penelo are tagging along would have gone a long way.

There were some good story points they could have expanded on (Balthier - Cid's relationship?), especially since the game was severely lacking in personal touches.

I don't know, the game was polished enough, but it still seemed unfinished.

Gun. Would have been amazing if things didn't get retarded near the end (ordinary human enemies somehow taking a shotgun round to the face and just shrugging it off, etc.).
I loved Gun, but it really bugged me that once you've completed the main story there is very little to keep you playing, which is a shame because it had a huge game world that is barely explored in the story. Some more side quest would have been great, in addition to the handful of bounty hunter missions. Also the game world was kind of empty considering it's size, like why did all the Indians disappear after the mission with them in, their territory is totally empty from then onwards, also for some reason I wanted a moving train to go across the map, dunno why!
It's always disappointing when you finish a great open-world game. It feels like the entire place just dies...

STALKER has some undeniable lack of polish. Scripting errors, bugs, the list goes on and on.
And yet, the atmosphere. It's incredible.
I 2nd that. I would much rather have waited another year if it meant a polished wasteland adventure. Shadow of Chernobyl wasn't great for bugs but still quite playable but Clear Sky really took home the gold! Patches were too few and too small. Also, GSC need to understand that realism is just stupid in some aspects of a game, like weapon degradation! That aspect can FUCK OFF and jump into an active volcano! It's like Prince of Persia penalising you for performing acrobatics. And it gets reloading wrong, it's supposed to be quicker to reload when you're NOT empty!

I read about the upcoming Call of Pripyat and I have to say, I have mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, i'm looking forward to exploring more of the Zone but on the other, i'm worried about how buggy it's going to end up. I mean so far, it's been a downhill trend: SoC had quite a few bugs, CS had LOTS more bugs....what next?

But yes, the atmosphere, so gritty that if you lean too close to the screen you'll end up spitting it out for a week.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
A great game, but ridden with numerous bugs, some of which were never solved by the many patches. One of htese bugs would come at a random location, that would make the game crash to desktop every time you tried to enter. If the random location happened to be somewhere you had to go in the mainquest, then that was just bad luck.

Arma 2. The AI is idiotic. A whole squad will pile into their APC, and drive right up to an enemy squad, the gunner will fire hundreds of bullets into the grass above where they are lying down, and then it will be blown up by an RPG.
ROFL!!! That's the greatest thing I've heard today.

I was thinking of buying that game, maybe not so much now.
It is still a very good game and an amazing achievement. I would advise getting it. The campaign is fun, and the editor is incredible... Remember when you were playing toy soldiers as a kid (or as an adult)? Arma 2's editor is like that, but with soldiers, tanks, jets etc. The community releases hundreds of new missions and vehicles... It is worth it.

for me.. i think assassins creed. That game could of been fun but the designers completely missed the fact the game gets almost impossible to lose once you get counter attack and also the fact that every city is the same!!!
I would add totally unskippable cutscenes, but other than that, this hits the nail on the head.

My only complaint about Half Life 2 is the Sand Traps level.

I can't see my feet, so I can't tell where the hell I'm jumping...
Oddly enough I never really encountered that problem since you can stop on a dime in that game. Still, for a game that goes on and on about immersion a player shadow would be the least they could do.

Fallout 3. Would be pure brilliance if not for the omnous cloud of glitches lurkng directly above.
That can be solved with simple modding, thankfully.

Well, for us olypian olympian super-pc-gods, anyway.

Brawl with it's random tripping, slow floaty fighters and unbalanced gameplay.
And fanboys (read: eight year olds) still praised it like it was the second coming of Jesus.

Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth. Several stupid design choices, many annoying bugs and that annoying point-and-click adventure kinda feel where the only way to go is the very strictly way the designers thought of. I still think most of the game is some of the best pieces of horror gaming I've played, but it keeps getting annoying and just extremely stupid at times that it just ruins everything
