Adolf Hitler!
Not because I want a sequel to Mein Kampf but because it'd be funny to see his reaction to being the most hated person on the planet. He's like the Chuck Norris of evil.

H. P. Mother. Fucking. LOVECRAFT!!!!!

Not Only would I LOVE to see some new stories, it would be very interesting for him to see the incredible fame his creations have received. I mean, everyone and their dog knows the name Cthulhu

Probably Douglas Adams. I would say Hunter S Thompson, but he'd probably be pissed if he got resurrected.

Douglas Adams. No one else. i need more dirk gently. i need more hitchhiker. but there will be never more of it...except the horrible-to-average eoin colfer fanfiction.

And related to that, a pre-alzheimer pratchett would be nice. not that i dislike his books now, but i don't want him to stop. He shall turn a zombie and write forever and ever, i say!
I was about to make a post... but then I realized someone had stolen my brain and used it to write my thoughts down. Thank you.

I tried reading the first Eoin Colfer book, but it just seemed strange. Like someone had put on a Douglas Adams latex suit and was trying to imitate his voice... but it just became somewhat disturbing....

Tricky, my first instinct is Tolkien, but to be honest, he finished his "great epos" and, yes, I know he have a lot of unfinished stories, he didn't leave a gap in my mind. Also, while showing him the movies would be interesting, it's pretty clear from reading about him he wouldn't like it, so a pass on him.
Second instinct is Jordan, since he didn't get to finish his series, but he got him self a ghostwriter, and how much would really be different if he wrote it? No, if I only can choose one, he'll stay in the coffin too.
No, I'd go to the mainstream answer, Douglas Adams, he need to salvage his series after the fifth, I did not like that one at all, and we need to get him on the new Doctor Who staff.
But if we could preemptively save Pratchett, that would win i suspect.

I must admit I liked Eoin Colfers book more than the fifth one. He didn't write that one, his depression did.

I'd love to bring back Sir Conan Doyle, to see what he thinks about the Sherlock Holmes movies. I like the first, and I'm going to see the second.

This, oh so much this!

Hitchhikers Guide is my favorite books of all time, and just knowing that there was supposed to be one more volume is almost torture!

Philip K. Dick, but I already know he is alive again. Ooops, I said too much. I gotta go; they're gonna be after me.

Tolkein so he can finish some of his transcripts and I'd like to read the full version of The Silmarillion.
William S. Burroughs would be another good one. Imagine what his cracked out tales would be like in our modern times with internet and whatnot.

Definitely Frank Herbert for me.
So that he can knock some sense into that silly son of his, and pick up where Chapterhouse: Dune left us hanging.

You have advance technology that can bring a dead author back to life, who would it be?

I've really enjoyed many Lovecraft tales so it would be him
Oh, hooray. You're bringing back a racist!

Bring Back Brian Jacques. Eulalia!
You know who else was racist back then? Everyone.
an assumption like that would just be ignorant. not EVERYONE was racist. just moronic asshats like Lovecraft. also, his writing is kind of... Blase'. it's truly boring.
There are a few problems with what you just said. I bolded and italicized them to help you out.
H.P. Lovecraft wasn't just a little racist like most people back then, he was very very racist and xenophobic, although saying his writing is bad because of that is stupid. The reason his writing is so interesting is because of the way he talks about things he doesn't understand, which is really just a huge metaphor for his xenophobia. He probably wouldn't fit so well in the modern day.
