Its not just the Brits everyone does it. I seem to notice alot of the time its useually younger people if im online. But most the time i dont use my mic because there is always someone who has to start an arguement. I only really use it during team games with a group of friends. Most of the time i have my mic off. But if it annoys you so much just turn the audio of the chat off.

No, because I just go under the assumption that everyone is a fucktard until proven wrong (even then I harbor doubt about their non-fucktard nature.)

British people I just associate with jokes about silly things like tea time and monocles.
Teatime is a sacred and revered ritual.

Heh...monocles are pretty stoopid, though. Heh

Hmmm I find that younger English gamers can be a bit elitist, & the older ones are two faced bar stewards but the average english gamer does take themselves very seriously.

As to the British gamer yeah were fine, far too many racists (again English) and so tempramental, you swear at em once for frelling up a clan match & theres tears for a year.

In the British gamers defence, I've adminned on a few public servers & IRC channels and I have to say that the worst gamers with the most inapproiriate mouths are the French followed by the Germanics (Germans, Dutch, etc). Something which really pissed me off was French guys using a British server I mean why ? Constant hacking & glitching, usual bans were for anti-semitic or racist language. That has to say something ?
The English as a whole tend to swear more and we have a problem with racist hear there normally part of something called the BNP.

I used to have (slightly still do) a chip on my shoulder about not being America because America pumps out the best main stream stuff. As a result I probably did act like a wanker. It's just a stage you have to mature from.

Nower days I just try and get over it and correct those who assume I like tea. Tea is swill. I drink Orange Squash.

Actually I have problem with Americans. They seem to just talk bulls**t for no reason whatsoever. I havent heard a British person doing the same apart from my cousin who just shouts at people but in a humorous way.

To be fair though lots have Chavs play on XBL now. And they are the most pathetic excuses for humans in the world. The most annoying people are from all countries. The damn annoying squeaky "BK"'s who just screech like harpies down the microphone.

im british, well english i kinda resent british. But i dont speak on live unless itsa real stratergy type game because in halo for example, the one guy who does have his headset on has some accent you cant understand or heavily breathes into the mic.

However i readily use mic on wow maybe because its hard to be violent or rude when you rolling with people you play with day in day out

well sense London is like 66.3 mi from where i live i hear a lot of Brits on Halo3 and not all of them are bad. but there was this one nutter who thought he was Sean Connery (im not sure if i spelt his name right) but after like an hour of arguing i told him to take that voice changing thing off so i could hear his real voice. he was like 8 years and he was British, he wasn't even Scottish.
You realise Scotland is part of Britain right? You mean: "He was English"?
i don't like the idea of other country's ruling other country's. so when i speak of Scotland and Wales i speak as they are their own country's. so in my mind Scots are not British.

They have their own Parliment and control everything on their country except for the taxes. Wales is similar. Heck, even the PM is Scottish now. Basically they might as well be independant. The Scotish Nationalists (and Sean Connery) hope for independance by 2012.

hear hear!

I also blame chavs for our bad reputation abroad! apparently we're the rudest of foreigners? it's because the only people they ever see are tribalistic dunderheids (scottish phrase, to avoid confusion) who see underage sex as a coming of age thing, and the hippest gizmo on the street is your new "nokya" mobile phone. but then again we can't all be stephen fry.

I'm a brit.
I find that you can get arseholes from any part of the globe, the anomnimity (I know I've spelt it wrong) of the internet and the overly-competive nature of some online games probably creates more problem player than any factors relating to nationality.
I do notice that many people do tend to group with their own nation in some arguements in a way that could suggest an "us versus them" mentality, particularly if the arguement involves someone making a daft, more patriotism-than-fact comment. To me, most of the blind patriotism appears to come from Americans (usually making inccurate claims about their country's military, preformance in WW2 or politics, or the problems with more libberal nations), but I am very willing to accept that this is just what I'm noticing and picking up on rather than an accurate depiction of facts.
The thing that pisses me of the most is how unimaginative the arseholes are. At least come up with a witty comment. Anyone who uses a "your mum/mom" insult should be cut up for spare parts.

It is a time dedicated to drinking tea.
How is it not funny?
Odd, depends on your interpretation, when I was called home for tea time it was the evening meal, and I drink tea almost twice every hour apart from when I'm at work, unless you count the job back home where I met my best friend, I think we drank more tea and had a laugh than we actually fixed stuff, so any time is tea time for me even in the US where I have been for the last 31/2 years.

Don't really talk much online while gaming anymore, last time I was really friendly chatting with a bunch of people in France, Belgium, some guys from the US, Canada, and a few more from England when I used to play Crimson Skies on PC ah happy memories...and then M$ shut the gaming community down, we lost everything from Mechwarrior to X-Wing series, and Crimson Skies, it effectively killed the teams/groups that were formed in that one game.

They're no worse than the tards that come out of America. Everyone not American hates America because it seems like a lot of Americans hate a lot of foreign countries. Kind of an eye for an eye thing. I'm American and I'm saying this.

At the same time, I have a Scottish person on my friends list, so I may be biased. I also play FIFA 09 and GRAW 2 which are both stuffed to the gills with British players.

Funnily enough, everything you've said is what I usually encounter with American gamers.
The moment I say anything online, I'm bombarded with people saying "Tea and Crumpets, Fish and Chips, Tally-ho!"

It's really annoying.
