The game begins
The busy streets of Cairo were chocked shoulder to shoulder even though the sun was just about to set. The markets began to close and pack away their catalogue of so many different trinkets and oddities you would never find anywhere in the big cities of America. Perhaps a few rare and wondrous items could be found here? Few people owned cars in Cairo as most destinations were but a short walk away but it was still difficult to cross the roads with the number of people.
Characters
Jack took a step from outside the airport. He took a reach for his flask and took a swig of it. ?Only water,? jack thought trying to kick his habit of drinking. The police officer turned around after hearing his name called out. He saw a man fumbling with his writing equipment and suitcases. Jack took one of the cases off the man offering a hand.
?Sorry. Do I know you??
?Well, no. My name?s Jacob. Jacob Doyle. I?m a bit of a writer. I wrote an article on you, about how you single handedly pulled off that alcohol bust! I?ve been writing to Dr Hubert Spencer about this trip. He said you were going to??
?Yeah, just here to catch up.?
?Well hopefully I could write myself a nice article and get accepted into a few reporter jobs around New York.?
Travis Doormen stepped out of the plane and slung his bag over his shoulder. Meeting up with Hubert Spencer, perhaps he could gain a few good words to increase his chances of getting into a prestige college.
Tsurugi slapped Doormen on the back.
?What are you standing around for? I didn?t spend 20 hours cooped up in a plane to admire Cairo?s inner airports. Let?s go see how the old hag is doing,? Tsurugi said chuckling.
Maxwell Otkis began to argue with the airport guard as the two other former students turned around.
?What is it Max?? Tsurugi shouted.
?How do I tell this guard that the suitcase is mine??
?Di amour, alla esky.?
?Di am-? Max stopped and thought for a bit. ?I?m not trying to ask him out!?
Going over a letter that Aaron Smith?s deceased father had left, Aaron knew he had to find this Dr Hubert. Perhaps he would be able to shed some light over why his father was torn into a manic state and why he died in the cold halls of an insane asylum. He folded up the letter and placed it in his pocket. He would find answers one way or another.
Samuel Houston and Raphael Fair got off the plane in a bit of a huff.
?Did you really need to take all these books with you Sam? I think there?s enough history in Egypt as is.?
?Look, I don?t want to miss anything while I?m here. I have facts I want to cross reference and dates that need to be recorded.?
?So do I, but you aren?t going to get in admits the occult workings of Egypt with just books.?
Andy Dufragne fiddled with his camera equipment. He usually did this when he was a bit nervous. Martin Norman yawned as he stepped off the plane followed by Abako.
?We should go check out this Hubert fellow. If we want to get some good views of the site.?
?Hey Martin, isn?t that guard holding your bags,? he said pointing out the three people arguing with the guard.
?Excuse me folks,? Martin said stepping through the crowed. He began to converse with the guard who handed him his bag.
?Thank you.?
?Wait, that?s my bag!? Otkis called out to Martin.
?Sorry, but the name tag says otherwise.?
Tsurugi laughed at Max again.
?Wait, then where?s my bag.?
?Come on, Max. We gotta go see Hubert before the sun sets,? Travis said.
Martin pricked up his ears with that name.
?Sorry, did you say Hubert as in Hubert Spencer??
?Yeah. We came to visit him-?
?-about the sites? That?s why we?re here.?
Jack and Jacob were discussing some old exploits of Hubert when another call for Jack cut him off. This time from a soft warm female voice. Jack shivered slightly. Selena Calloway stood in the middle of the airport with her hands on her hips.
?You going to help me carry my things??
?When did I ever sign up to be your personal assistant??
?When you first got the nerve to ask me out.?
?That was five years ago. Didn?t we decide that we were on a no talking basis, ever!?
?I was hoping you would fall for that old trick. You were always an easy push over.?
She said gathering up her bags.
?So you decided to finally move away from your little hospital in London??
?No, I?m just here to see an old friend. Dr Spencer.?
Another shiver ran up Jack?s spine. This was going to be a long trip.
Two heavily accent Australians leave the plane. Jon Patricks and Frank Marsh, two of Spencer?s old friends who helped him cover a trip down to Australia. In return he invited the two up to Egypt.
?How?s about we get to the nearest pub. Twenty hours was way to long a plane trip.?
?I?d fully agree. I?d rather I didn?t remember tonight.?
Tony Drewan slapped his face as he walked past the two. His past years had been cruel to him after spending most of his childhood behind bars. Perhaps this trip could be good for him. Spencer was a good man who helped him through a lot of his childhood affairs and spending a few weeks with him could be good to shrug off some past memories.
As they all stepped out of the poorly kept airport the group was greeted by a man with a truck holding a sign reading ?Hubert Spencer.? Martin walked over to the man and shook his hand. ?Hello, I?m Charles Tellier. Dr Spencer sent me to pick all of you up.?
?All of us, how many are going.?
Tellier looked at the group of people gathering behind Martin.
?A few. This is a big find.?
Tsurugi ran up, ?Shit gun the fro-?
?Ladies first,? Selena said walking in front of him.
Museum
Arriving shortly at the museum, the guests had a chance to look around for a little bit. Spencer had set the museum up a few years ago, but it was relatively empty, mostly attracting tourists and sightseers not wanting to brave the desert, but who wanted to glance at many wonderful Egyptian displays. Hubert Spencer saw himself a bit of a fond collector of special thing and he was quite fascinated with ancient Egypt especially.
A door at the end of the hall opened up. Hubert Spencer, well into his late 60?s was letting out a swarthy Egyptian man. The man was about in his 30?s and wore a very expensive black business suit and held a fine wooden cane.
?My word,? Spencer said adjusting his glasses, ?You?re all finally here!?
He excitedly run over to greet his guests in, though it was more of a fast waddle.
?It?s so good to see you all again. Some of you for the first time.?
Spencer turned to his guest, ?These are the people I was telling you about.?
Turning back to the group he apologized,
?Sorry, this is Saheed. He?s the one that?s going to be funding this expedition.?
An attractive woman of Spanish looking descend, Laetitia Hernandez, walked into the room pouting.
?Is their a Mr Spencer here??
Keeper: Okay, I?ll stop playing with your characters. Use this part as a bit of a meet and greet. Saheed, and Hubert Spencer will be played none other then myself.
