Hey guys, noticed this is falling down on the rankings... so updating so it doesn't fall too far and get forgotten. Purp, any word on how the story is coming along? I'm excited to see it start :)
Meh. I say that because I had to retype it. Day late so not a good start on my behalf. I promise it will be up really soon (like within this day). There will be blood.

The game begins

The busy streets of Cairo were chocked shoulder to shoulder even though the sun was just about to set. The markets began to close and pack away their catalogue of so many different trinkets and oddities you would never find anywhere in the big cities of America. Perhaps a few rare and wondrous items could be found here? Few people owned cars in Cairo as most destinations were but a short walk away but it was still difficult to cross the roads with the number of people.

Characters

Jack took a step from outside the airport. He took a reach for his flask and took a swig of it. ?Only water,? jack thought trying to kick his habit of drinking. The police officer turned around after hearing his name called out. He saw a man fumbling with his writing equipment and suitcases. Jack took one of the cases off the man offering a hand.
?Sorry. Do I know you??
?Well, no. My name?s Jacob. Jacob Doyle. I?m a bit of a writer. I wrote an article on you, about how you single handedly pulled off that alcohol bust! I?ve been writing to Dr Hubert Spencer about this trip. He said you were going to??
?Yeah, just here to catch up.?
?Well hopefully I could write myself a nice article and get accepted into a few reporter jobs around New York.?

Travis Doormen stepped out of the plane and slung his bag over his shoulder. Meeting up with Hubert Spencer, perhaps he could gain a few good words to increase his chances of getting into a prestige college.
Tsurugi slapped Doormen on the back.
?What are you standing around for? I didn?t spend 20 hours cooped up in a plane to admire Cairo?s inner airports. Let?s go see how the old hag is doing,? Tsurugi said chuckling.
Maxwell Otkis began to argue with the airport guard as the two other former students turned around.
?What is it Max?? Tsurugi shouted.
?How do I tell this guard that the suitcase is mine??
?Di amour, alla esky.?
?Di am-? Max stopped and thought for a bit. ?I?m not trying to ask him out!?

Going over a letter that Aaron Smith?s deceased father had left, Aaron knew he had to find this Dr Hubert. Perhaps he would be able to shed some light over why his father was torn into a manic state and why he died in the cold halls of an insane asylum. He folded up the letter and placed it in his pocket. He would find answers one way or another.

Samuel Houston and Raphael Fair got off the plane in a bit of a huff.
?Did you really need to take all these books with you Sam? I think there?s enough history in Egypt as is.?
?Look, I don?t want to miss anything while I?m here. I have facts I want to cross reference and dates that need to be recorded.?
?So do I, but you aren?t going to get in admits the occult workings of Egypt with just books.?

Andy Dufragne fiddled with his camera equipment. He usually did this when he was a bit nervous. Martin Norman yawned as he stepped off the plane followed by Abako.
?We should go check out this Hubert fellow. If we want to get some good views of the site.?
?Hey Martin, isn?t that guard holding your bags,? he said pointing out the three people arguing with the guard.

?Excuse me folks,? Martin said stepping through the crowed. He began to converse with the guard who handed him his bag.
?Thank you.?
?Wait, that?s my bag!? Otkis called out to Martin.
?Sorry, but the name tag says otherwise.?
Tsurugi laughed at Max again.
?Wait, then where?s my bag.?
?Come on, Max. We gotta go see Hubert before the sun sets,? Travis said.
Martin pricked up his ears with that name.
?Sorry, did you say Hubert as in Hubert Spencer??
?Yeah. We came to visit him-?
?-about the sites? That?s why we?re here.?

Jack and Jacob were discussing some old exploits of Hubert when another call for Jack cut him off. This time from a soft warm female voice. Jack shivered slightly. Selena Calloway stood in the middle of the airport with her hands on her hips.
?You going to help me carry my things??
?When did I ever sign up to be your personal assistant??
?When you first got the nerve to ask me out.?
?That was five years ago. Didn?t we decide that we were on a no talking basis, ever!?
?I was hoping you would fall for that old trick. You were always an easy push over.?
She said gathering up her bags.
?So you decided to finally move away from your little hospital in London??
?No, I?m just here to see an old friend. Dr Spencer.?
Another shiver ran up Jack?s spine. This was going to be a long trip.

Two heavily accent Australians leave the plane. Jon Patricks and Frank Marsh, two of Spencer?s old friends who helped him cover a trip down to Australia. In return he invited the two up to Egypt.
?How?s about we get to the nearest pub. Twenty hours was way to long a plane trip.?
?I?d fully agree. I?d rather I didn?t remember tonight.?
Tony Drewan slapped his face as he walked past the two. His past years had been cruel to him after spending most of his childhood behind bars. Perhaps this trip could be good for him. Spencer was a good man who helped him through a lot of his childhood affairs and spending a few weeks with him could be good to shrug off some past memories.

As they all stepped out of the poorly kept airport the group was greeted by a man with a truck holding a sign reading ?Hubert Spencer.? Martin walked over to the man and shook his hand. ?Hello, I?m Charles Tellier. Dr Spencer sent me to pick all of you up.?
?All of us, how many are going.?
Tellier looked at the group of people gathering behind Martin.
?A few. This is a big find.?
Tsurugi ran up, ?Shit gun the fro-?
?Ladies first,? Selena said walking in front of him.

Museum

Arriving shortly at the museum, the guests had a chance to look around for a little bit. Spencer had set the museum up a few years ago, but it was relatively empty, mostly attracting tourists and sightseers not wanting to brave the desert, but who wanted to glance at many wonderful Egyptian displays. Hubert Spencer saw himself a bit of a fond collector of special thing and he was quite fascinated with ancient Egypt especially.

A door at the end of the hall opened up. Hubert Spencer, well into his late 60?s was letting out a swarthy Egyptian man. The man was about in his 30?s and wore a very expensive black business suit and held a fine wooden cane.
?My word,? Spencer said adjusting his glasses, ?You?re all finally here!?
He excitedly run over to greet his guests in, though it was more of a fast waddle.
?It?s so good to see you all again. Some of you for the first time.?
Spencer turned to his guest, ?These are the people I was telling you about.?
Turning back to the group he apologized,
?Sorry, this is Saheed. He?s the one that?s going to be funding this expedition.?

An attractive woman of Spanish looking descend, Laetitia Hernandez, walked into the room pouting.
?Is their a Mr Spencer here??

Keeper: Okay, I?ll stop playing with your characters. Use this part as a bit of a meet and greet. Saheed, and Hubert Spencer will be played none other then myself.

EDIT

Starting equipment

You all have the usual assortment of books, journals, clothing, ete.

Jack, being a police officer, has a Hnadgun 9mm revolver. Fires 2 shots per-round and does 1D10 damage. It fires 15 yards. It is capable of impaling.*

Laetitia Hernandez carries a consealed Butterfly knife. 1D4+2 damage plus bonus damage. It can also impale.*

*Imapling weapons, on a fifth of whatever you do to hit, does double damage. Ie: Sam can hit the monster on a 100% chance (only as an example. No skill can actually reach 100%). If he rolls under 20 his weapon (being a spear in this case) can impale the creature doing double damage.

Jacob carries a camera and Selena has a first aid kit.
Abako carries a spyglass.

Laetitia's eyes roamed the room. Glass cases filled with pots from the past. Nothing of real interest here, but, despite herself, she looked over the security.

Egypt was a hive of rogues, thieves and ne'er do wells, she'd had to break one guy's finger already from when he grabbed her backside.

The crowds soon parted after that, but a few stragglers had followed her. Perhaps she needed to keep a lower profile.

Looking over the assembled group, she guessed that the older man would be Spencer; the rest of them had the layer of dust of those not used to Eastern travel, but it would be best to keep quiet until answered. Best not to arouse suspicions.

And at least there was some ventilation in here. The streets reeked of blistered bodies, but here there was a small tranquility.

Hold on...There was another woman there. She'd been surrounded by the men as she'd came in, but perhaps there was a kindred spirit.

"Ahh, yes. I am Hurbert Spencer. I don't believe we have met."
He says kissing Laetitia on her hand gentlemenly.

Jack watched the Doctor greet Laetita from across the room. He didn't care much for formalities, he was much more interested in the corpse in front of him. He looked down at the mummified man that was lying in the casket in front of him, the description claimed that the man was once a servant to a Pharaoh, not as interesting as a Pharaoh himself but an incredible find non the less. Perhaps the Doctor had found a new Pharaoh, it would seem like a strange thing to get everyone out here just because he had found a dead body.

Jack's inquisitional mind started to wonder the purpose of having everyone here, he had told himself that this was a holiday and that he would not worry about it but he could not put these strange events out of his mind.

Jacob, a bead of sweat curling off his brow, borrowed and took a small sip from Jack's flask, before cursing the sun outside the Museum;

"If you didn't inadvertently give me Oxygen, I'd have you blocked out - the Motherland may be dark and gloomy but at least I don't lose half my body-weight walking down the street."

He handed back the flask back to Jack - who seemed to be glaring at one of the corpses - and took a few poloraids of the group and the displays, more to pass the time than anything, and, flapping the photos whilst they developed, turned to the man he recognised as Hubert Spencer, who seemed to be greeting an admittedly stunning woman. After waiting for Hubert to finish...'greeting' the woman, he introduced himself;

"Hubert, I'm Jacob Doyle, the writer - good to finally meet you at last! You mentioned this man, Saheed, is funding the expedition; just how much money is going into this? You told me it was a massive find, but I didn't expect you to need more than the standard funding from Universities and such."

Laetitia blushed, as she was supposed to, although she did feel a small tingle across her cheeks. It had been some time since a man had actually bothered to make that little gesture.

Withdrawing her hand, she drew her fan and wafted a cool breeze to her face.

" Mi nombre es señora Hernández, e tiene gusto de ser una parte de su dig."

She had tried to dress as a woman of exquisite tastes, just to entice him; but she felt like her top was cut a little too low. She was damned if she was going to wear a ruff though. Not in this heat.

And the parasol was right out.

"Ah yes, the museum. If I remember correctly there should be a particular artifact with dubious ties to....hold on a moment." Raphael exclaims as he turns back toward the group assembled alongside him. "I don't believe I've met any of you yet, aside from Samuel there. I am Raphael Fair, and I'm a bit of a connoisseur of peculiar information. Pleasure to meet you all" he said with a perfunctory little bow. "Might I inquire as to the names of the rest of you...?"

Jack turned his attention back to the group, Raphael in particular.

"My name's Jack" he said while extending his arm and shaking Raphael's hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you. You said you're a connoisseur of peculiar information, any idea what it is where all doing here?"

The old man chuckled so slightly as Laetitia spoke.

"My word, Spanish I do believe. I picked up a few words here and there. I was always interested in learning more of your language, but never gathered the time to do so."

Saheed overheard the comment from Jacob.

"Ah, the universities wouldn't fund this exploration. the place we wish to travel to is seen as a wide myth if anything."
Stumbling around on a few English words.
"Not many people believe it exists although I have claimed a map for myself that shows the way there. Dr Spencer has also gathered a few artifacts they may have contained some origins to the region."

Jacob's eyebrows rose in intrigue as he took out his notepad and pencil, turning to Raphael to quickly introduce himself, nearly dropping the pad in an attempt to talk to three people at once. He smiles and tells the man his name.

Jacob, usually a calmer man, was a little flustered, and the stunning Spaniard wasn't helping his frame of mind, so he took a deep breath and wiped his brow before turning back to Hubert and Saheed;

"A myth? Even so I'm surprised there was reluctance on their part, Spencer here is very well respected. Would you care to give us a little backstory, Saheed? And what are these artifacts?"

Laetitia smiled. Thank the Virgin she wouldn't have to bluff her way in using Egyptology. She didn't think she could recognise Anubis if he was sniffing another dog's butt.

"I am most sorry Professor, el inglés no es mi primera lengua, but I would be happy to teach you some words in exchange for a place."

The men had already started talking about the dig, as men are want to do, and although the subject bored her, she felt as though she really should listen in a little. If only to make encouraging noises.

"Ah, as the story goes, there was once a great temple known as Memnon, the sat at the banks of the Nile. There was a high priest there that claimed he would have power over the gods. His name was Kadath. According to the legend, in an atempt to cross to the land of the gods Bast set a mightly lion upon him killing the high priest. There are other stories that the priest had the powers over the creatures in the sand and monsters beyond, but they may have just been produced over the passing of the story."

Hubert straightened up his tie. 'By jove, this old cod still had a way the women' he thought to himself.
"Well most certainly my dear. I can always find a place for someone such as yourself. Look at me talk, I haven't even been blessed with your name."

"Laetitia. Laetitia Hernandez"

Her right hand was still in her pocket, pondering whether to leave the ring on or off. On, she thought. It might stop a few of the more blatant proposals, and she'd no wish to lose the fake to some of the gutter trash.

She stole a look around the room for the others, and a thought struck her. Perhaps one of these people is actually responsible?

While the more knowledgeable people in the room were busy filling it up with hot air about history and stories, Tony had already found his happy place - the place with the most shade. Leaning against the wall, he let out a small sigh as the wall - warm, yet cool in comparison to the rest of this God-forsaken place - came into contact with the skin of his arms and neck.

How anybody could wear a shirt and tie was beyond him, especially in this climate. Then again, Spencer always had been a bit bizarre.

Travis Dorrmen, distracted by the many fine museum pieces, had failed to so far realise his old friend. While examining the mummy beside another one of the guests, Travis's ears pricked to the familiar sound of Spencers hearty voice. Turning to investigate, Travis immediately began to smile, and joined the group around his olf Professor Hubert Spencer. Such was his enthusiasm, Travis accidently pushed some of the group out of his way.

Not realising his rude interuption, Travis held his hand out and gripped Spencers hand firmly. He said excitedly "Hello Professor, remember me? I attended one of your lectures, and you told me of your wish to head to Egypt? I would just like to thank you for inviting me sir, as I've been going through some tough times recently." Travis finally let go of Spencers hand, then finally realised his blunder.

"Oh, sorry for my rude interuption. Please, continue." Travis said with much politeness, and he stepped back and awaited his old friends response.

"Hahaha," Spencer laughed in his usual hearty way, "Don't mind the interuption. It's good to see you again. I do remember you, you were one of my top students, that was when you got in on time. I knew you would want to be apart of all this so I thought I'd drag you along."

Dun dun dun!

Sorry, continue.
