hey, check it out! Another company is whoring itself out for money at the price of a quality product! Come on, just stop making Call of Duty games. The last good one was World at War. It was actually something different. Now its just the same game with prettier explosions and a couple new pea shooters. Kill it. Oh god, please kill this monstrosity. Very few video game developers and publishers are remaining true to the sprit in which they began: People trying to deliver a piece of QUALITY entertainment that they pour their love and hard work into in the hopes of giving the consumer the experience they want them to. I think I can count the number of these true and dedicated developers on one hand.
All (well, most) video game companies start off wanting to create a fine, high quality game that is original, entertaining, a fair challenge, and just plain fun. Many of them do such.MONSTERheart said:

I like that the assumption here is that Infinity Ward didn't make exactly the game that they wanted to make. If you were to talk to the programmers who slaved away making a final product that looked and played the way that MW2 does, they would probably take offense to the notion that love and hard work didn't have a part of it.presidentjlh said:

Hm. I wasn't aware that anything was cut out for the sake of profit. I heard the rumors about the "Terrorist Zombies" mode, but IW itself squashed that. I feel that the last game has been fair, in that they aren't charging you for DLC that is just an unlock key for content already on the disc. I'm with you 100%, though, in that the greed at the upper levels of the company (Activision) is going to screw over the folks who just want to tell a story and craft an experience.presidentjlh said:

Well, I wasn't going to get it anyway, as I truly hated Modern Warfare 2 (for my own reasons, not because it's "cool" to hate) but now I don't have to worry about my friends pestering me to get it. I haven't even playred MW2 and I'm expecting it to not be as good as EVERYONE at my school says and talks and brags and EVERYTHING about games (except from REAL gamers) will come back to CoD 6 MW2

I don't want to know what happens at the end of the vietnam war (so...what, do we win or what?) I want to figure out what the hell happens to Makirov. Treyarch's multiplayer was a major rip off of Cod4 with little sense of weapon balance. I understand games of the same series playing similarly but there's a limit people. MW2 doesn't play like Cod4, and while that means some of us actually enjoyed the previous game, it still felt different enough.
They changed the setting to the rehashed pile of shit that is WWII from a setting I could actually take seriously and then they shat on the weapon balance. Why the hell would I want to pay yearly for more of that?
I wouldn't. So I won't. If they come out with a modern setting, maybe. Maybe I'll subscribe. But they'll need a damned good game to get me too.

CoD 7 will have subscription-based gameplay. You will have to subscribe $2 a month for use of the M16. Martyrdom is confirmed to be $10/month.

Honestly, I liked MW2, but yeah, the servers were shit. Like someone mentioned earlier, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 really has upped the ante on CoD.
