I'd rather play CoD4's multiplayer than World at Wars "machine gun or go fuck yourself" multiplayer "balancing". Hell, I'd take Modern Warfare 2 over World at War any day.

When did I say I ever supported Infinity Ward? I didn't, 'kay? After Call of Duty 4 I guess they decided it's time to milk some money out of the franchise. IW isn't worse than Treyarch (No matter what you say, MW2 still beats World at War any day) but they have become pretty shitty.

Oh yeah, Treyarch makes incredibly good games. Remember Call of Duty 3? Greeaaattt game. How about Call of Duty World at War: Machine Gun Edition? That was an amazing game also. The multiplayer was balanced and you could have lots of fun with it, right?! No.

Deal with it, IW and Treyarch aren't fit to make a Call of Duty game at the moment. One company is milking a franchise, the other just makes bad games.

I wonder what their next great idea concerning multiplayer will be?
Hosting the games on the mobile of the lobby creator? That would be awesome!

Alas the singleplayer will be a rental.

Greetings the Deffel

Korean war would be cooler. Seriously ... apart from MASH its not really a much publicised event. Besides ... some of the most annoying battles in the Treyarch games (W@W in particular) were the ones that were Japanese fox-hole heavy, or underground bunkers.

Now imagine that + lots of scrubland, forest and rice paddies.

I suppose the AP traps built by the VC would be interesting obstacles. Poisoned stakes in the ground ... re-distributed landmines ...

And some of the missions would have a fairly heavy cinematic feel. Like the evacuation of Saigon.

I think it would be interesting if they had a mish-mash of conflicts throughout the Cold War, for example (in this order)...

-Incheon landings in the Korean War
-A sequence with Hungarian freedom fighters hunting down AVH officers and ambushing Russian T-10 tanks with Molotovs.
-Bay of Pigs Invasion.
-Da Nang Air Cav assault (Vietnam)
-Taking of the Golan Heights (Six-Day War)
-AC-47 "Spooky" Hamlet defense (A throwback to the AC-130 Spectre mission).
-Khe-Sanh hold-out.
-Battle of the Citadel.
-Golan Heights defense (Yom-Kippur War).
-Studies and Observations Group ops in Laos and Cambodia.
-Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan with one mission from the Soviet side.
-Another mission on the Mujahadeen side, involving the player shooting down Russian Hinds with Stingers.
-Falklands War (with a cameo from sergeant Price).

I'd prefer a CoD game centered around Canadians fighting in World War II or Korea, personally.

Or a CoD game set in the War of 1812.

Or fuck it, WORLD WAR I.

bay of pigs was an attempt of the us to invade kuba in short...they got their ass handed on a plate on that day, extremely disastrous in an almost slapstick manner.

there was actually one incident in the crisis that came to light decades later. an u.s. destroyer unprovoked tried to bomb a soviet submarine with waterbombs. the correct response acording to soviet military doctrine would have been to blast the us-fleet away with a nuclear torpedo. only one brave soviet officer named Wassili Alexandrowitsch Archipow refused to obey the orders and start a nuclear war. that's right, the only reason we are not fighting over scrap food in a nuclear wasteland today is because one russian officer didn't let himself get worked up over the provocation of some stupid cowboys.
First of all, use proper grammar.
Secondly, it's "Cuba", not "Kuba".
Thirdly, America never took part in Bay of Pigs. That was an independent CIA operation, and the only combatants were Cubans. No Americans died during Bay of Pigs.
Fourth, they're called "Depth Charges", not "Waterbombs".
Fifth, there is no such thing as a nuclear torpedo
Sixth, that incident still wouldn't make a good game
I dont want to get banned so im beeing kind with these words. He is fucking right about the Soviet officier negating nuclear warfare by convincing them to abort the launch of "A GODDAMN NUCLEAR TORPEDO" so check your facts before you try and start a flame war. fuck!!!
This incident did in fact happen.

Secondly, given ineffectiveness of anti-submarine measures during that time, nuclear weapons were in fact deployed (not necessarily used) in ASW roles not only by the Soviet Union, but by the United States as well.

Thirdly, during the 2nd World War, German "U-bootsmen" of the Kriegsmarine refered to depth charges used by "ze Tommies und ze Amis" as "Wasserbombs." Given the English language's Germanic roots, you can probably hazard a pretty good guess on what the very literal translation of that is.

That sounds really awesome, shame they would never make it because it wouldn't sell enough.

It'll be interesting to see an in depth Vietnam game. I'm guessing it will be alot like crysis with the jungle settings which will be a good change.

Multiplayer will be fun, I can't imagine what sort of killstreaks they'll have. Probably just Vietnam style killstreaks similar to the MW2 ones.

The trouble with that particular setting is that there were few large scale conventional battles to choose from and those that exist are often years apart. Of course, you COULD just set the game during the Tet Offensive, but I'm not sure that would be entirely interesting what with the US utterly crushing the opposition.

Really, that is the trouble with the war in general, since the US decisively won every single major battle during the war, it doesn't really make an interesting setting for a video game. I could be entirely wrong of course.

Oh, come on, they aren't bad video game developers.
Actually, they are pretty bad. The only marginally good game they made was Ultimate Spider-Man.

Their work on the Call of Duty series was an absolute mess and I really don't understand what was going through Activisions mind putting Treyarch in charge of 2 games in the franchise.

Call of Duty 3 was shit and World at War was just a rehash of levels from Modern Warfare 1. The multiplayer wasn't better either with overpowered guns and a pretty unbalanced multiplayer. The only "redeeming" factor of World at Wars multiplayer is the Nazi Zombie thingy but hell, if you enjoy killing zombies that much you might as well just get Left 4 Dead.
Well CoD4 was just a rehash of levels from Call of Duty 1 & 2.
in what way?

let me see...any ac-130 level in 1 and 2? no
any heli insertion, heli crashing in 1 and 2? no
javelin missiles in the barn with explosives charges to cover a retreat? no
how abt a mission in a ICBM launch facility? no
jeep/truck chase? yes-but with a hind chasing you? no
any sneaking around in ghillie suits?no
i can go on and on to show how 1,2 and 4 are totally different.
unless u mean multiplayer-to which i have to say-really? and note how the dynamics were changed with perks and attachments and all thoose stuff.

so in short: i have no clue what on earth ur talking abt-unless by Cod 4 u mean Waw which btw, is actually 5 not 4.

Sucks a bit cause everyone knows the ending.
And World War 2 games are great because it's fresh and new every time?

I wanna go Full Metal Jacket on someone's arse! Hell, it'd be quite cool if they completely followed the plot of the film and had the first half of the game as you doing punishing exercises in a training camp as the weakest recruits snap all around you. Before you go out there, find the strongest recruits have all snapped too and then be forced to shoot a civilian who's taken up arms against the evil invading marauders.

Hell yes, Viet Nam has the chance for some great psychological effects.
