The weapon i hate? The spartan lazer in Halo 3. I also do not like how everybody uses the shot gun in Gears 2. i feel as if I'm the only one who doesn't always use it.

Eh, I just counter by sneaking around with chainsaws (God that statement feels like an oxymoron). People call me a noob on it, but honestly, I feel it's as fair as them one shotting me.

Blame the game, not the player.

There's nothing wrong with complaining about noobtubes etc. You should just remember to direct your hate at the developer, not the other players. The devs put those overpowered weapons in the game.

There is camping and then there is spawn camping. Camping is alright Spawn campers should be sent to a special circle of hell. Also just because something is put in a game and is allowed doesn't mean it isn't overpowered. Noobtubes are a perfect example of this as they require little to no aiming other than the rough very very rough centre of the screen to catch someone in the explosion.

Also go play some AB in Guild Wars and come back and tell me if you still think that ganking is a fair tactic. These tactics are only barely legit as the community of said game hates them so you have a stigma over you for using them(kinda) devs don't get ridof them as not to alienate people.

The reason COD has so much camping is due to the game design making it easy for people to do it.

Maps like Rundown, Skid Row and Afghan have certain spots that cater to campers.

It just pisses me off when people do it in objective games, it ruins it for everyone else.

People argue: 'I bought it, I have the right to play however I want', this is true but if you ruin everyone else's fun you're a ****.

the Tactics are only deemed Unfair, or the weapons considered to good, when they are being used by the other team, and they are winning, thats how it always has been, and will remain that way a while

I don't like "noobtubes" because they're actually quite ineffective.
You fire a round, maybe kill someone and sit around reloading like a dopey twit and die.

Myself, I like to wait for crowds of people before I use explosives, I use my bullets on single targets, saves me a lot of bother.

I don't consider it cheap when people use one underbarrel-grenade on one person, I consider it wasteful and rather silly, because I wear a blastshield and use a shotgun... they never learn, of course, but who am I to complain?

Aye the noob tube rage I heard from a guy in college was hilarious. Somebody using just a grenade launcher is a bit sad I will admit, I use them but don't use them as my primary weapon. If I see somebody go into a building or duck behind something I'll lob one in alright.

I didn't play it but some servers in the first modern warfare made using grenade launchers a banable offense. Sure I wouldn't mind playing on them every now and then, don't think I'd play solely on them though. I like explosions >:)

I very much agree with this thread. In fact, I said something very similar in a <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.170536-Poll-To-everyone-who-has-ever-been-mad-at-a-camper-rusher-bunnyhopper-turtler-or-something-similar>thread of my own a while back.

To put it (way too) simply, if you're getting beaten by 'cheap' tactics, there can be two things going on. One: You suck. Stop whining and learn to play. Two: The game sucks. Stop whining and play something better.

What I've Learned
by Muffincakes

What I've learned from reading about camping and such is that there really is no actual reason to hate camping other than it bothers you. No one has listed any real reasons as to how it is cheating or how it is impossible to get around or anything like that. From this I must surmise that camping is totally legitimate, but annoying.

On the subject of overpowered weapons, I understand that some of them can kill you in one hit, but I also understand that those are either snipers or shotguns. Snipers are effective at long range, but they need a clear line of sight. Shotguns are effective at short range, but they have to be very close to you. If I am not incorrect, I believe that this means if you stay out of the snipers view and you watch your back, neither of them can kill you without you getting at least a glimpse or even a shot off. Only those people who never look behind themselves get shot in the back, or those who focus on one spot so hard that they lose sight of everything around them.

In my personal experience, most sniper spots are rather obvious, and you can always see someone running around if you take the time to look. Unless there is a teleportation skill, they must run through somewhere, and if you take the time to look, you can see and kill them while their guns are out of range.

As far as grenade launchers go, yes, they may be able to kill you quickly, but they are far from precise, and they have a limited number of rounds. In Modern Warfare 2, these launchers can be countered by the use of a Blast Shield, but many refuse to use said item and instead complain about the game/player being unfair. To this I must say, if you are given the means to accomplish something and then refuse them, not only are you waiving your rights to complain, but you are a fool.

In review, I find that no good reasons are given as to why any of these things are 'overpowered' or 'cheap.' They are easy enough to counter if you take the time to, but most people will not do this. Instead they wish to complain and nit-pick because they are not getting their way. This is the actual problem: People not getting their way. If they want a 30 kill streak, anyone who gets in their way of getting it is a noob who sucks at life. They choose to complain instead of bettering themselves at the task at hand, and they are the real reason that these games become no fun to play.

I complain but sometimes I find it challenge. How to work my way around, how to deceive the campers, and sometimes catch them in their own trap.

Camping is okay as a purely defensive tactic like playing Counter Stike as the terrorists.
You're not gonna leave the bomb alone to be ninja defused are you.

To quote Assassins Creed:

"Nothing is forbidden, Everything is permitted"

If you can not face and beat your opponent on all fronts, beating out cheap tactics or overpowered weapons/characters with superior skill and knowledge of the game... then you are a scrub.

If you have to play by an imaginary honor system that restricts common and easily accessible features of a game... Then you are a scrub.

The content of the game does not change simply because you deem it unfair. All you will do is limit your growth as a player. If you dislike a tactic, learn to counter it.

You could say that camping is a legitimate tactic; but at that point, it's like you've given up, and you're just hiding in the shadows waiting for someone to walk by and OH BOY I GET ANOTHER KILL YAY! Especially when you have an entire team doing this, and you can't walk out five steps without someone crapping themselves in excitement as they jump out of the shadows, unloading with a fully automatic rifle that has a heartbeat sensor. "OH BOY I GET ANOTHER KILL THAT I COULDN'T GET WITHOUT A FREAKING TV ATTACHED TO MY GUN TELLING WHERE EVERYONE IS AT ALL TIMES!"

i will only count a noobtube kill as legit if you kill someone by hitting them with the grenade before it arms. more often than not its more entertaining to the noobtuber and most people can respect that as a decent kill if their hit by it. sure its a one hit kill but so is a shotgun point blank or a knife.

I don't find camping too bad there. Although, I have found my fair share of guys camping as a Medic and constantly throwing down Medkits.

Personally camping is my pet hate in games. I know it's legit and all that, but it's still annoying, especially if they're camping in a spot with high traffic.
Blow there spot up, collapse a building on them, sneak up behind them and steal there dog tags etc. theres loads of ways to deal with them.

I love campers, there the easiest kills. The only ones that annoy me are the snipers who hide in the bushes, the only way to counter them is to go recon and equip it with the spot gadget and scan the edges of the map.

Or spam the select/back button.

If there spamming the noob tube theres a good chance they have the one man army perk (infinite grenades) and danger close perk (increased blast radius and increased damage), so the blast shield will take away the damage increase of danger close but it will still one hit you and it still has a larger blast radius.

There are also drawbacks to the blast shield, no radar (which I use alot) and limited visibility.

Wait, just scanning through these replies...
There are player specific perks in MP FPS games nowadays? And people complain not about these but the weapons immediately available to all players?
People are weird. Think I'll just stick to my lovely SP, thanks.
