"Ah, Ms. I was beginning to wonder. Have you spoken with the town's ponies? Will we be heading off soon?"

"sorry to make you wait so long, but yes, we should be leaving soon. our search turned up nothing and Fromanzio said he'd give a once over of the area for them. so when he comes back we'll probably be leaving" she said as she got up next to him against the fence "as to warning the people, no, least i'm not, we don't have anything solid other then a 'maybe', and as some one who's been on both ends of the fates whims, a 'maybe' isn't enough to go on for a warning"

"But how do you know they are dead.. maybe one of them was an mage and they simply teleported. I mean there wasn't even the slightest sound or sign of struggle. And you said yourself that he was strong, what could have killed him in less then a minute and not even leave behind an trail?"

Fromanzio shook his head again. "Nope, unlike Rook to leave without a trace or a fight. With that in mind it seems likely he was killed by one stronger than himself. Fairly quickly no doubt and while I don't mind teaching whoever did this why killing members of the market is a poor idea, one of us would probably die in the exchange. As such, Fromanzio will leave this to you."

Fromanzio was about to figure out exactly how expendable the group was to William. He did not care either way, he knew he would survive this but it was still an interesting idea. Duty or his soldiers, every good general has gone through that conflict and all of them make the same decision.

William looked shocked. If someone was strong enough to do that they wouldn't stand much of an change. He decided that we would discuss it with the rest of the group before making an decision. "Fromanzio And Claire would you please follow me. We we are going to go to regroup with Bom and Rias, and discuss what our next move should be." William began to walk toward where Bom should be thinking that both his companion would follow him.

Claire saluted at the request and followed. As she did, she noted how empty the town was - Forget what happened to Rook, what had happened to all the other people? She made her question known to William, not liking this situation at all. "Commander... when you were searching around, did you see any townsfolk?"

Claire drew her sword but kept it at her side - it payed to be prepared after all; still rushing to regroup before whatever it was that caused this moved against them as well.

"Commander... when you were searching around, did you see any townsfolk?" "huh?" William looked around but indeed the streets were allot emptier then you would expect, and so were the homes, allot of people were gone...William looked around confused. He sighed as he sheeted his sword. "I don't know what thing did this but it is too late now. It seems like whatever bad was going to happen already happened or isn't going to happen. The only thing we can do to help these villagers is solve this war, so their village won't be destroyed by the army of another country." William walked in the direction of Bom. He wanted to leave this town behind him.

Rias waved as they three came up, before making eye contact with Claire, 'she'll probably find out sooner or later' she thought "so how'd the search go?"

"so how'd the search go?" Rias asked, a funny look in her eye - though perhaps it was her imagination.

"Poorly" Claire answered, still rather disturbed by the emptied nature of the town. She left a note at the elderly woman's store - If nothing else it offered her a chance. Claire would have preferred a more direct approach, but the world did not seem to be so kind to them.

"I think we have done all we can. What do the rest of you think?"

Rias nodded "well, if there's nothing more to be done we should move along" she said before fidgeting a little, "look we should probably talk since you'll probably figure it out on your own anyway" she said to Claire, before pulling a small black box out of her pack "so let just get it out of the way now"

"...so let just get it out of the way now" Rias said fidgeting.

Claire looked on somewhat confused, before saying "figure what out?" Thinking quickly, it was clear that something had been bothering her; almost since they had met at the training ground. That said, Claire was getting a little concerned: it had been less then a day since their commander had sworn his oath, so Claire could only guess what revelation was to come. "Maybe I gave her some soup as a child and saved her life too" Claire mused in a highly sarcastic internal dialogue, with only a trace hint of worry.

"figure what out?"

Rias fidgeted a little bit, the box still in her hand "the 'tongue slip' earlier" she said opening the box, revealing the pendent she'd gotten from her parents "the truth is I'm ... technically a noble, but not really." she started "My parents, my real parents that is, where members of the DeDannan and Duncan houses, in fact, my dad was the son of the current head of the DeDannan. the 'not really' part is, the DeDannan's refuse to acknowledge me as a member of the family cause they refused to consent to the union between my parents and they went ahead with it anyway, i donno how the Duncan's feel about it, never tried contacting them." she said, as a depressed tone crept into her voice "the rejection i got from the DeDannan's was pretty brutal, both times, so i haven't bothered trying the other side of the family"

Rias closed the box "anyway, it's not something i normally tell people, but since your a noble your self, i figured you'd be able to check up and call me out on the 'I'm related to' line from earlier, so i figured I'd just explain it now and save some time"

Bom blinked.

"Remarkable! Though somehow, I felt I knew it all along."

The nervous chuckle belied Bom's words. Rias the noble? This unrefined young lady who fought and swore so often, was actually one of the upper crust?

Fromanzio let out a chuckle. "Alright, Rias can be a noble and while we are at it, Fromanzio shall call himself a high ranking enforce- oh...wait...he is! Hmmm...wait why does Fromanzio even care what the brute calls herself? That is right, he doesn't! Fromanzio almost forgot!"

Fromanzio was ready to lighten the mood and haul out of the ghost town.

Rias rolled her eyes at Fromanzio "right, and tell me again why i care about what ever lame little title your group of human garbage gave you?" she said putting her pack back on "if Claire wasn't nobility her self I'd never have brought it up. i've had complications with other nobles in the past over it, I'm just looking to avoid trouble that could divert attention from what needs doing" and started down the road to the next stop

"...i've had complications with other nobles in the past over it, I'm just looking to avoid trouble that could divert attention from what needs doing" Rias said, explaining the situation.

Claire was little shocked by the revelation - Rias did not act in any way she would expect a noble to act, but it wasn't as if she had acted poorly, so it wasn't like she had any problem with her.

"Well, have no worry of 'complications' from me, so long as you continue acting as you have." Claire said with a shrug. "I wouldn't have bought you a sword if I didn't enjoy your company." she finished with a smile.

Rias told that she was an noble. William looked a bit suprised she didn't seem like an odinary noble. "Alright, Rias can be a noble and while we are at it,...Fromanzio almost forgot!" It seemed like he really disliked Rias. "right, I'm just looking to avoid trouble that could divert attention from what needs doing" William made his pony walk, as he walked over to Rias. He talked after the girl had said a few things. "Well I hand't excpected you to be an noble, I guess congratulations." He smiled at her it wasn't like this really changed anything though.

Rias shrugged, "i guess, if it wasn't for mom and dad generally being awesome while they where alive i wouldn't be using the 'DeDannan' surname, I'd be using my adoptive fathers name of Cole" she started "in all honesty, i hate the DeDannan's, take the contempt i've show Fromanzio, multiply that a thousand fold and you be close to how i feel about them. i dislike Fromanzio on principle, due to what he does and who he works for and that he reminds me of the garbage the killed my parents" she said with a shrug

"but 'representation' and 'reminding of some one else' are not the same as actual wrongs committed, The DeDannan's, on the other hand, insulted my parents, treated me like some kind of leper, and practically threw me to the wolves, when i was seven, if it hadn't been for Marcus, a complete stranger at the time i would be dead now in all likely hood, and all because mom and dad decided 'you know what, i like this person, they make me happy, i think I'll marry them', yeah, lucky me ...." she said finishing up

"anyway, can we talk about something else now? i really don't like talking about this unless it's 'necessary' and it just puts me in a bad mood"

William listened to Rias story. She hates them a thousand times as much? Wow that is quite allot. I will be sure not to bring this subject up again then. And it is never justifiable to throw out a child if she was 17 it was kind of understandable but 7?! that is just pure madness. It was this kind of behavior that made William loathe a lot of nobles.

"Sure we can change the subject. You wanted me to give you lessons in using an sword right? Well how about this, as soon as we build up camp to rest for the night I will give you your first lesson. Though before I can teach you effectively I need to know, have you ever used a sword before? Or have you ever received training with a sword before? It makes quite a big difference on where I need to start with my lessons you see." He smiled at her as he asked this. He had no problem with teaching someone his skills. If someone else also wanted lessons in using an sword, he would be happy to teach them as well.

"i dislike Fromanzio on principle, due to what he does and who he works for and that he reminds me of the garbage the killed my parents"

Fromanzio laughed again. "Oh I doubt he was garbage. From what Fromanzio hears, they had to have owed us a pretty penny. Unfortunate they were fools enough to challenge us but, that is how all double dealings must end. Also, before you call us trash, do keep in mind that almost every action in every major and most non major towns is run by us. We are clever, smart and efficient and if some rusty bolts get thrown in the waste bin, one could hardly blame us for keeping the machine working. You may have made a decent recruit for the market too, had we picked you up after killing your parents. Not an uncommon dealing actually. Perhaps you could have been another meat shiel-I mean ally of mine."

Fromanzio grabbed hold of his horse to show it he was ready to leave and get to a place with market influence. Report the unfortunate likelihood of Rook's passing.

Feeling that the discussion was once again getting a little heated, both Bom and his mule took a step back.

"Er, I think its time to move on again, don't you?"

Time to move on? I vote for a time skip.
