Cars looked like the stupidest movie Pixar had ever made, so I didn't see it.
I'm definitely not seeing a sequel to what looked like the stupidest movie Pixar had ever made, so I'll just ignore the trailers and wait for the next animated movie that looks interesting.
Pixar's Cars 2: Taxi Driver.

I'd pay to watch that thrice.

[HEADING=1]Merchandising. It cannot flop.[/HEADING]
By this I mean that Cars (1) was the biggest merchandising opportunity ever created: kids movie (kids like movies) and it's about cars (kids REALLY like cars). Investors actually pulled out a bit when Up was made, simply because they could not foresee any marketing, unlike Cars.
Pixar KNOWS every kid in the nation will want to see this, and once they see it, every little kid in the nation will then want $300+ worth of Cars paraphernalia.

I get tired of people claiming Cars sucked when they haven't even seen it.
It's really not a terrible movie, not the greatest, but still pretty good.

I was skeptical about Cars. I was skeptical about Toy Story 3 too to be honest. Ended up loving both. I was skeptical about Wall-E too. But in that case, I loved it up until they introduced the humans. I found the captain and the two humans Wall-E ran into to be unbelievable in character. Such a shame too... The characterization of the robots was terrific...

I'll be skeptical about this too though, because I'm skeptical about all movies that come now, regardless of who makes them. That's just the way I am.

Geez, what the hell.
Some serious "I am disappoint" goin' on in this thread.

Am I the only one who loved Cars? That movie was brilliant.

Have yet to see a Pixar movie I haven't liked.
No you are not my friend...It's my favorite after Up. I hate NASCAR too.

I don't get what's the beef most people seem to have with Cars. It's a nice, heart-warming though simplistic story.

Really, is all of the critisism because of the NASCAR thing?

Cars is fine, my son loves it and got a poster and bed sheets of Cars. One thing that goes with aging is enjoying simplicity. He can watch it over an over and all I see is that they never ever let him call his lawyer. What I blame Cars 2 for is the jump it takes between casual justice issue in a little town to an international spying/counter-terrorism mission.

One movie I've enjoyed was Miyazaki's Spirited Away (and I'd probably enjoy his whole filmography), yet I never actually understood the story. It was just odd, but such an art/animation masterpiece.

I agree would have prefered a sequel to Wall-E than Cars.

I haven't even seen and judged Ratatouille so I can't comment on them all(Pixars movies), yet but I did watch and I hated Cars compared to the rest of Pixar's offerings that I've seen

At least it'll still be infinitely better than Shrek 5 or whatever it's called. =D

But Kung Fu Panda 2 still looks cool.
Agreed, there have been four good Pixar-esque 3D animation Dreamworks flicks and those are Shrek (1), Kung Fu Panda, Ice Age (1) and Ants. I do hope they don't kill the Kung Fu Panda franchise like they did Shrek and Ice Age...It could happen, but I'm an optimist.

Honestly, I couldn't wrap my mind around the first one. There's just...something...wrong about how they have all this stuff built and they have no hands because they're all cars. It completely overshadowed anything and everything else about the movie for me. My mind recoils at the very premise of the movie.

So, naturally, I can't muster any interest in another. I'll just try to avoid it.

Let's just call it "not for everyone", assume it's a cartoon for kids and leave it to them.

Just remember Pixar also likes money and simple flashy cartoons are the way there, but that will all go into fueling other quality projects, or so I hope.

I didn't really care for the first Cars (I really didn't like the characters, especially Mater), so it baffles me that Pixar would choose this of all their movies to get a sequel. If any of their movies deserves a sequel, it should be The Incredibles, because they still have a lot they could do with that.
I understand perfectly why Cars was chosen. Because Cars was a merchandise selling machine. More than a billion dollars worth of crap associated with the movie was sold, and any reports I found indicated the total was far higher than any other movie they had made. Sure, all those other movies had heart and character but, really, how many merchandising options are there for a movie like Wall-e?
