Heres what I feel: (SPOILERS AHEAD FOR SOME GAMES)gmaverick019 said:Snip
When I look at a character, they need to serve a real purpose. I guess I didn't describe Nathan Drake as well as I should have.
Nathan Drake is supposed to be "relatable", all I see is a somehow handsome, non-caring, douchebag who has killed more people than one should care. Before bringing up the issue that: "They shot first" or "Their mercenaries". At some point, one would consider going crazy. He isn't a soldier so he isn't trained to accept the enemies death, and he isn't a civilian so he isn't a wuss. Thats your problem. You can't be perfect in combat and yet somehow be a good looking and witty, as well as extremely successful, as well as mentally healthy.
Now, I guess I sound ironic when I don't like "perfect" characters. What I meant was that I don't like characters that are unrealistically perfect. I loved Alcatraz in Crysis 2, as the nanosuit was the only reason you were alive, you really felt like you could fall apart after enough hits. I also like Master Chief, he was BRED to be a soldier, so when he kills, its understandable that he can handle the fact that he killed something. Nathan Drake is just a super model from Jersey Shore with an AK47, and thats the problem.
I like characters with reasons for their actions. One of my favorites is Noble Six. I may get back lash for it, but I see quite alot of character for an avatar with 5 lines. For starters, his back story is that he is responsible for the dissapearance of hundreds of soldiers. He is also widly spread amongst his talents, particularly lone wolf stuff. Lastly, he is able to assess a situation and understand what he must do, selflessly (He gives his life so a human ship could leave reach)
Nathan Drake...I can't stand, he's just there. All he does is make comments that are supposed to be witty, that EVERY guy would say, while also being relatable and being able to do things only a real soldier could do.
Also I'm not some fat pimpled face geek who needs to see him as relatable. I am a very lean, tall, and quite sarcastic person who likes to delve into things deeply.
