This isn't about Christians. Most Christians aren't THAT stupid. This is about Creationists. And I'm not to beat around the bush, Creationists are morons.

Welcome to the escapist!

Anyways... sucks to be an American, I'd invite you all to Australia but you'd probably be killed by at least three animals as soon as you left the airport carpark... it's not safe here.
Of coarse it's not safe, Yahtzee lives there. There's a good reason he's not living in our country anymore.
Because it's Australia... What other reason do you need ..
We have the best beaches (and conversly get everything later but meh... just wait till our mutant deadly creature army attacks... giant spider sharks with snakes coming out of there head, kangaroos with tentacles, crocodiles that shoot "lazors". Australia will rise and with it the meat pie, our awesome (until this year) cricket team (fail team is fail[for now]), draconian internet measures and of course, turning everything we capture into a prison...(ohh wait thats not us... sorry [[small]But we will do it anyways[/small]]) ... lol ok on topic... lets just leave it at this...
I beleive that it would be wrong to deny a movie on the story of the life of Charles Darwin, when they let "The Passion of the Christ" through. Now I have nothing against aforementioned movie, I just didn't want to watch it. So I didn't. No yelling, No screaming, I just didn't watch it.
Mayhaps our angry moviegoers could follow that example.
I dunno that or we can all get together get really really drunk and just forget that we have any thing at all...

You can always count on the Yanks to inject mind-numbing stupidity into a situation.

I laugh derisively at people who slam down on the theory of evolution as being a load of crap that's full of holes, yet I can destroy 90% of pro-Christian arguments on almost any subject by simply stating "circular logic" at them.

That is what makes it so sad... that people will throw shit at sound scientific theory, yet expect a load of nonsensical crap written in some mouldy old book called "the Bible" to be flawless and absolute.

*clap*

Sigh, can this topic be locked? All I see this going is to anti-American bullshit. I know there is more then 39% of people who believe in evolution here. It's probably just some asshole in power pulling facts out of his ass. Or the .uk I see in there could be someone who hates America pulling numbers.
Don't mistake the population of the Escapist for the population of America. The strata is a whole lot different. The majority of Escapists, from what I see, are atheistic or agnostic. There are a few religious people on here, but they aren't really anywhere close to the majority. From what I've seen, heard, read and experienced, the opposite is true in the US.

Also, just because you don't like the statistics doesn't mean that they're false. They may well not be entirely accurate to your local area, but remember that they're representative of the entire US.

Also, why are Americans always so paranoid about things being 'anti-American'? Are you all so insecure that you can't take a bit of a ribbing?
Just because it has happened in America doesn't mean it the americans fault... Lets just blame jesus and let it be over with ... joking ... I see it as a religous based incident not a country based incident
But there aren't any Christians in any other country making this sort of fuss... Christianity is worldwide, but the only Christians raising hell over this are American ones. That alone is a pretty good indicator that the issue is American rather than Christian.

Just because it has happened in America doesn't mean it the americans fault...
This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
We are not the only over-religious place, and if its not Christians, its someone else. Also, the Vattican is in Italy, and the Pope is just as bad as Christians here.
No, you aren't the only overly religious place. You are, however, the only overly-loud Christian country. Even the Vatican doesn't raise as much of a fuss as you guys do.

I reiterate: there are Christians in almost every country. Only the Christians in America protest about this film. Thus, the issue is America, not Christianity or Christians in general.

Yea but I don't like just blaming the Americans, they have enough problems without me pissing on their heads...
I said it I respect America... (Or at least the Americans who don't yell the loudest)

Hah, most Christians would protest it. We unfortunatly have the loder ones as you said. Ofcourse, to blame America like you are is ignorant. Obviously we are the ones to have to deal with the problem but to blame us is like blaming a cancer patient for what the cancer does as oppose to the actual cancer. Yes, I compaired Christianity to cancer.

Yeah, I don't know what to say.

Anyone going to Mars any time soon? I could use a ride off this planet.

I mean seriously, we've created 'life' in laboratories and people are still calling Darwin a racist with a half-baked theory?

Hey, maybe the Americans who freak out over criticism like this should learn to seperate themselelves and their country as a whole a little bit more.

Evolution is not a belief, it's a fact.
Or at least a theory backed up by strong evidence, whereas the only "evidence" for creationism is a book that nobody knows who wrote it, and when he/she/they wrote it.
I'm betting somewhere in the afterlife there's some fat dude laughing at everybody because they bought into his prehistorian fantasy novel.

Well we have the internet so no cult leaders can keep me from watching that movie.

Also lets face it there is the discovery channel, HBO ( who would show a movie about child rape to get attention.)So we might not get to see it on the big screen but we will get it on every TV in the USA or anyone that has dish or good cable.

"sigh with a dash of facepalm" Nothing really surprises me anymore. I have to get off my butt and move to Europe or something. I have to put up with the Passion torture fans, but don't even get the option of seeing a Darwin movie. Freaking BS.

first off, before anyone else starts deploring the sad state of american culture, take a look at this:

only 25% of the country actually disbelieves evolution. the rest couldn't care less either way. not to say that isn't a problem in its own right, but america is far from the fundamentalist christian state everyone's making it out to be.

if you ask me, the problem is american distributors are idiots who don't know their audiences. doesn't anyone remember how well the DaVinci Code did? that movie constituted a far worse attack on christianity than anything darwin ever did.

Why can't we believe in evolution AND religion?
i honestly don't know why they can't just say god created the universe then evolution changed us. it goes hand in hand but people just go to extremes of black or white.
