dude, CoD4, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. made me wanna visit XD i'd so go :D hell i can now that i'm in the navy /me books a trip ^_^
Sorry dude but as I mentioned before. And the people who are only interested cause of a game had this one lv there, you need to re-evaluate somethings in your life before even thinking of going there.
Theres more to it then just a abandoned place with a *post apocalyptyc look*

Take time to look at the pictures of the place. Posted a link to some in previous note.
Everyone learns about foreign areas from somewhere... if a game sparked someone's interest in something, I see nothing wrong with that. I never had as much interest in ancient European architecture before playing Assassin's Creed as I do after. I also had little interest in the Italian language. Is there anything wrong with learning something cool about pretty much anything with video games as the medium?

I'm kinda sad to see this. It's not an exclusive thing anymore, now it's a tourist attraction. I wished to go there one day, to see it while it was still relatively unspoiled. I don't know if the strange charm holds if hunderds of other people visited it before me.

True but there are a lot of numsculls out there, who get it wrong. Also given subject is a bit more touchier then, say what you brought as example, as explained in a other response to Kevonovitch.

Don't Feed The Snipers.

I think we should leave it alone and just study the effects of decay on human structures.

As long as no one turns into hideous, radiated walking corpses - as in, as long as they stay in the acceptable-radiation areas - I'm perfectly fine with it.

If this turns into Shadow of Chernobyl somehow, though, don't say I didn't warn you.

My only problem with going would be that I have loved STALKER so much that I will be slightly dissapointed not to see any invisible zombies. Or not have to clear out an entire factory full of bandits to find enough ammo for my next mission (and enough of those funny pie things for supper). Or what's worse is that the landscape wont resemble what I have seen in STALKER at all and that will just permanently ruin any future play-through's that I will make (note I have completed STALKER (Shadow of Chernobyl)4 times now. )

So long as the giant cockroaches don't attack it should be safe enough.

The entire area was exposed to large amounts of radiation but that doesn't make the whole area radio active, most of the material as been washed below the surface, just don't drink the water and stay on high ground, should be safe and enjoyable.

The whole area is overgrown with vegetation, it's an interesting experience to wonder through a perfect new town that was just abandoned one day, no where else like it on earth.

Pardon my harsh response and generalsation your first post lead me,I mistook you for the average numscull and apologise.
Just that a lot of people just don't know jack about the actuality. The people who lost their homes, their lives cause of the incident and the severe reprecussions that fallowed it.
I agree with you. But I wouldn't worry too much about that. I didn't play STALKER for more than ten minutes, but most of the people that did play it seem intelligent enough to understand that. And I don't think bros that play CoD would go anyways.

"YO BRO! They opened Chernill!"
"What's Chernill dog?"
"That sniper place from cod!"
"Whaaaat! Dude, I am so down. Lets get down there. How much is it?"
"Let me see... Holy! Two g's there and back. Apparently it's in Ukraine. That's like... Russia."
"A'ight dayumn that's too much gold. We ain't going then. Pass a brewskie."

I would be interested in seeing it. I thought there were already tours, and as mentioned above, there apparently were. I have always been interested in the cold war, and nuclear history. This is definitely a big part of it.

Mostly cause the main part of the community are actualy over 20, heck bout half the people I know from there are bout 2-4x times my age. Also a considerable part of the community is from surrounding countrys or actualy live in Ukraine.

To each their own, I'd have to say.
While I'd love to visit Pripyat, (Get it right!) I dunno if I would do it, merely because thanks, I'm already likely to get cancer. Thanks, Mendel.
Now, visiting Chernobyl (Yes, there IS a difference) would be foolish beyond my level.

I'd love to see Prypiat, there's been urban explorers going there for years. The radiation's been dropping for the past few years, people know the risks when they go there and carry geiger counters.

The reports of mutated pigs and Ukrainian men saying 'get out of here, stalker' haven't gone down though.
Not the point!

sorry mis-Quote

Seems interesting, but I'm a wimp, so I wouldn't go unless I had a really good friend with me. And even then, I'd be tempted to play songs by The Ink Spots the whole time...

"Still "dangerous"" is only positive for the image. I'm sure many people would like to visit that place. Just think of the amount of apocalypse-threads on The Escapist...
They're not going to a real life dangerous area, they just like the idea of being the hero in a zombie apocalypse because they like the idea of being much greater than themselves and actually being able to do something.

On topic,.....cooooool....?
