"The impact it could have on these very young children"? Are you fucking kidding me? My faith in the justice system has been steadily deciling over the years but this has just made it fucking plummet.

There is NO impact on the kids because they wont be WATCHING the fucking video will they? In absolutely NO way was this guy acting innapropriately towards children. He orchestrated a raunchy, maybe even tasteless joke that was to be absorbed and criticised by an adult audience.

Dear god this just makes me want to vomit my gizzards into the gutter. I've seen so many stories with peadophiles being let out on fucking BAIL after a week or two in the slammer and this guy is looking at 20 years? Absolutely fucking unbeleivable.

My god, this has to be one of the most ridiculous cases ive ever heard, its actually mind-blowing.

Its actually rather scarey that theres a chance he might be found guilty.

That's just ridiculous. I'd understand if some of the parents watched the video with their child in it and asked him to take the video down, that would be perfectly reasonable, but 20-25 years? That's... Wow. Just wow.

I agree he deserves some prison time, but not for the charges bought against him. He exploited the trust of the people who were involved and should get like 5 years for that but he is no threat to anyone and this does not require the full extent of a law that is being stretched to meet the situation (and a win could see it further stretched as well).
Lets hope they loose completely (though as said before he does deserve something, just not this charge)
5 years? for editing a movie that made it look like he was singing to a bunch of kids in a class.

Or we could be resonable and do this: remove vid or blure the faces so you cant se them

There case close now go catch some real predators

I'm fairly sure they'll find him not guilty- i still have some faith in humanity. Still, the fact that he is being prosecuted at all is just stupid. Society today is just too paranoid about pedophilia, this man is just a victim of societies paranoid delusions about them.

Perhaps society needs some kind of internal enemy to persecute even if such an enemy is sometimes non-existent. First it was blacks and communists, then it was homosexuals and now it's pedophiles.
You've just hihglighted a very big part of human nature. It's the same reason the crusty old politicians get all bent out of shape about videogames, and that whole debacle followed the same pattern. Movies, then magazines, then comics, now videogames. They just need something to hate.

Peadophile are despicable creatures yes, but this guy clearly isnt one.

this is BULLSH*T, why do USA overreact to EVERYTHING >.< should for instance Shane Dawson (on youtube) get put in jail for every single sex and pedophile joke he does on that crazy show. what about Rey William Johnson or Philly DeFranco, who some will clearly say are sexist -.-;

let the youtube fail out of court >o<

There is actually a South Park episode about how people still secretly believe in ritualistic killings because they think it will somehow give them higher yields of corn. They kill Britney Spears by driving her to insanity. You should watch it. The principle is pretty much the same as what you're talking about.

Youtube doesn't have porn. If his video was on there. It's not porn. Case solved. How is anyone listening to dirty music porn anyways?

I haven't seen the video so I can't really know how bad it was, but it reminds me of a song that had no real scrutiny at all from Whitest Kids You know.

Not quite the same, but it reminded me of it. At worst the guy should get fined for posting the video of the kids without parents consent or something.

I didn't know you could make child porn without children, ya'know, child porn.

We should start a facebook group and make videos like this ourselves and post them on the group, then it will stop seeming so serious.

EDIT

the group already exists http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/Free-Evan-Emory/192566290767711

one question no one seems to be asking here is did he get the permission of the parents to use the footage from the first video (which he would have needed their permission to record) in the second video? i dont really know how the law works on that issue in the us, but as far as i know, here in britain, you need permission from parents to record their children for any purpose, even when filming your own child such as at a school play (stupid but true) and you would certainly need permission to re-edit the footage. everyone is bringing up tv shows in the defence of this guy but they certainly have the permission of the children's parents and the kids are more than likely actors who are being paid anyway.

the problem these days is you have to be very careful with what you say and do. i perform part time as a stand up comic and the other night i was doing a show where i made a joke about american attitudes to mexicans when someone called me racist. i countered it by saying "to be honest i was going for cutting cultural satire" which got a laugh but it became a bit of a struggle to get some people back on side and i only had them all 15 mins later at the end of the set.

the lesson really is that you have to analyse everything from all angles to see what you might be accused of because no matter what someone will take offense. i dont think this guy deserves 20 years in jail or the stigma of a child porn charge and/or conviction but he does need to think in future about the legal implications of what he's doing.

I agree that it's wrong for his to go to jail over this, but I think the putting it onto YouTube is the wrong bit. As it says in that clip, the children can be clearly identified on the video, so who knows how it could effect them in the future or whatever?

I'm not saying he deserves that long in prison, I am completely against that, I'm just saying he should have thought about what he was doing instead of trying to get some cheap laughs.

Next on the DA's list : Memes.

Seriously, don't they have real criminals to convict? Are they this bored? Really?

Of course this is an important lesson: never get too good in photo manipulation or video editing. I wish I could stay that I think he'll get away with it, but I don't. There are enough loons out there that would convict.
Unless you get paid for it and pay taxes. I swear I've seen things like this before on tv

Okay, this is just retarded. Just because you've got no other universally hated enemy you've got to arrest someone who simply resembles one through satire? Fuck is wrong with you? Are you really so paranoid that you'll charge someone with a lawsuit just because of artistic expression?

Land of the free, indeed.

*looks out the window* Oh, there goes a bit more of my faith in humanity. It'll be missed. If anything he should just get fined or something but 20 YEARS IN PRISON!? In the mean time there are people writing songs about "slappin' hoes" and "shootin' bitches" (saying that with my posh english accent never gets old) Comedy is still an art form and while people should think while they do things like this about what'll happen I still don't think he should do 20 years in prison.

Doing what he did was stupid? Possibly but there's been worse.
