Eh well it is a pretty weird religon but sure why not wear a full pirate costume? Ninjas get to wear full ninja costumes to school.
How do you know that?

No man has ever seen a true ninja and lived.

Spaghetti is an Italian dish made of dough. Meatballs are meat. Pirates were people who stole things.

If the origin of the object can be explained, I don't see how it's divine. Teapot's (China teapot), and as for the unicorn, well, you got me on that, I could say humans made it up, someone would counter with God being so, but I still can't abide by Pastafarianism.

After all, the guy was just pissed because they were teaching intelligent design instead of evolution. I can understand that, but still, now it's starting to pass off as something legible.

I can't argue for other religions, I don't really research them, I live in my Deist/Pantheistic life and don't bother most others.

But the Muslims at my school don't wear their clothes, and the Pastafarians don't wear there pirate outfits. Courtesy, more than anything, is what I expect. He can wear the pirate outfit at home.

Some schools pick and choose, I do not support this, and leave it out. Basically, although I say Pastafarianism isn't a legible belief, I don't care much. But you leave your religious stuff at home; everyone.

Though the pirate thing is a clever attack at the whole "correlation/causation" thing. Stick it to the bitches, Henderson.

Hahaa.
I just love Pastafarianism.

It shows that all of the religions are based on lies.
Those people who say that Pastafarianism isn't right, because the deity is so ridiculously supernatural, are just digging their own graves.

Gods? thay are all paranormal.
So they are either all real or all fake.
[small]I'd say: Fakes, they are. Fakes.[/small]

You can't just make up your own religion and expect people to heed to your beliefs without question.
Perhaps the same could be said of all religions.

They were all made up by somebody.
Your words are as empty as your soul!
quoting from the same game :)
Was that a jab or an excuse to quote?
Well, that wasn't my intention when I wrote that, but I gave it some thought, and this kids a prick. I sincerely doubt he seriously wants to dress as a pirate his whole life, and that he believes in a flying spaghetti monster. I also don't think this school was at fault, since puswhateverism doesn't have NEARLY enough enough followers to be considered a legitimate religion.
Seriously people, I know you guys aren't religous but this obviously doesn't hold the same ground as things like christianity and judism.

They said they suspended him because of his outfit, not because of his religion. His outfit is part of his religion, therefor if they are not discriminating against his religion he should be allowed to come in a pirate costume at school because of his religion.
It's the same as suspending a girl because she wore a Burka to school...
Are you serious? It's a made up religion, nobody really believes in it, the kid was being an ass hat and got punished for it, it's not like taking away a muslim girls burka.
I fail to see the difference...

So just because someone dresses oddly, he should be suspended? That argument doesn't hold up either. If for example someone from another country that had a completely differing dressing style that was rather flamboyant; should he not be allowed to wear attire from his home country? That's discrimination right there.

These issues will resurface if ever we encounter intelligent life from another planet as well, who are we to prevent them from wearing what they wear? Just because *you* or *other people* think it's inappropriate or distracting doesn't mean he can't wear it.
Which would teenagers pay attention to, advanced theories on the formation of the culture of Classical Han China or the kid in a pirate suit?

I'm sorry, are you honestly saying that a burka is more distracting than a kid dressed like Captain-fucking-Morgan?
First of all, if you get distracted from your schoolwork by someone's style of clothing, then you seriously just need a blindfold. Second, no, it is not more distracting. It is equally distracting. You consider a burka acceptable because it's part of a more established world religion. Which means that by not accepting the pirate attire, you're not only discriminating against a religion... You're discriminating against a minority, making you a double bigot.
I lol'd when you called me a bigot. You're right, I am a bigot. A big one. I hate black people too. And I can't stand those durn homosexuals. All because I don't think a kid should be able to wear a pirate costume to school.

How many people have to believe something before it's "legitimate". more importantly how can you honestly encourage religious discrimination because not enough people believe in something? it would've been like the Romans refusing to allow Christianity because not enough people believed in it. (if you're historically illiterate you'll invariably point out that the Romans did in fact persecute Christians, and I'll point out that this was well after Christianity became "a legitimate religion")
So..then I guess those Romans were ignorant. I don't really see how that's relevant. :\

Anyways, having a lot of followers allows a religion to hold some ground, not make it legitimate, I guess I misstyped. what makes a religion a religion is it's purpose. A lot of athiests are under the impression that all religions are just some invisible guy telling people to kill eachother but that's really not what it's meant to be about. A religion is supposed to provide moral enlightenment and act as a guideline to those who are confused, feel that they have no purpose in this world, that nobody's looking out for them. Religions help people believe that they are here for a reason and that the world isn't just out to get them, and that they should try to live their lives as fully and considerately as they can.
Pastafarianism however, is just a joke. Teaching nothing other than that religons can be unrealistic at times. Poking fun at relgions, and this kids only dressing up like that for shits & giggles.

I'll ask again; Do you honestly think this kid believes the world was created by a flying spaghetti monster?

P.S. I still have no idea why people believe in Scientology. But then again i haven't looked into it from anything resembling their perspective.

What about the people who DON'T drink beer?
I can answer this one. The Beer is magical and will taste like anything you want it to taste like, it could taste like a Strawberry milkshake, or a nice cup of tea or even your favorite paint thinner, so it will always be the perfect drink to sate your desire for a drink at that moment.

R'amen
That doesn't make it not beer. You just said it TASTED however you wanted it, that still makes me not want to drink it.
EDIT: I'm kind of atheist, so I don't give half of anything to damn religion.
