I really don't think China will last much longer. The government is trying to keep it quiet, but protests, riots, etc. aren't too uncommon. Only a matter of time before the people snap.
Where they gonna get there weapons?

There censorship is just being plain out controlling jerks in my opinion.
But US has a debt and they don't so I guess we need to adjust things a bit in US. There government has is not afraid to be dictators which isn't a trait US has much... (I want every rich person in US who isn't paying taxes to stop using there damn loop holes!!)

I take everything i hear about it with a grain of salt, two grains if it is the Chinese government that is talking. As far as i'm concerned they kidnapped Harold Holt and Kevin Rudd is a cyborg.

when the communists took over the people actually were fed for once. no communists- no food. communists-food
so dont hate on them without considering that

I was told that when i was in prague....Now it is a tourist hole, and there are the haves and the have nots....to paraphrase "During communism we had nothing, but at least we all had something"
While Communism is a great idea on paper, it could never be done in real life due to a little thing called human nature.

Yeah... and 12 million were killed in death camps.

As for my views, they are dangerous. not just the fact that they have nukes and a large army, plus the political instability, but should they decide to stop making our stuff,It could take a decade to get our factories back up and running.

Honestly, I'm expecting to see a Chinese revolution/civil war/whatever within my lifetime.
Which, if under certain circumstances, could potentially fuck over the planet's economy.
I was going to write something, but this sums it up perfectly.

The collective spirits of those who died during the Great Famine would probably contest that.

Personally, I wish NATO would have given Chiang Kai-Shek a lot more aide in the 40s and 50s so they could defeat Mao's communist regime. They would have stayed a capitalist state, the Cult of Mao would be just a "what-if" theory, 30 million people would still be alive because there wouldn't be famine caused by the Cultural Revolution and Great Leap BackwardForward. There would also be a more balanced male-female ratio. Yes, Chiang was a mean ************, but he wasn't in the same ranks as say Mao, Hitler, or Stalin.

I also wish the British would have amended their mandate of Hong Kong. It is the most developed sector of China for a reason. The People's Republic has ruined it and its only going to get worse.

It's exactly the same with capitalism.

Very true, but then all economic systems are flawed in that respect.

what do you think of China?
with all the Chinese government has done, how do you view the country
A little more direction would be nice(what are we talking about? =P).
As for me, i've been there plenty of times and it really is a lot better than what people make it out to be. I think I actually prefer it to the few years i've had to live stateside for school(*gasp*).

Also the Shanghai Expo = Awesome

you know those what? 20 some nukes the US has in storage for actual use eventually?

ya, use 10 of those on China. 6 for india.

the other 4 go to New York, Moscow, Switzerland, and Vagas.

no WW3, just absolute collapse of world powers.

Money? no longer exists.
China and India: nuclear deserts.
world Economy? gone with NYC
Militaries and PMCs: dissolve with NYC
Europe: dead. one nuke would kill everyone there already anyway.

If you're going to focus on the positive, China has had a huge economic advance in a matter of decades. It has already started to work on making renewable energy, and has higher emissions standards than the U.S. on vehicles. China is also the first country to make a true population control law. Over-population is the greatest threat to the environment, and China has more to brag about in terms of the environment than any other country for that reason.

On the negative side, China has perhaps too much controls and executions. In terms of other countries though, it has done far less evil in this world.

They're a economic super-power with one of the greatest populations to use for warfare, and are a dictatorship masquerading as a communistic-democracy.

Yup.
HAHAHA EVERYTHING IS WRONG ABOUT WHAT YOU HAVE SAID! I LOL AT YOU!

(So I do not get banned, I will explain.)

1. While they are economically pretty powerful, their GDP is just over one third of the USA's and just over one quarter the EU's. So I wouldn't call them a superpower.

2. Yes they have a very large military, so that isn't technically wrong, but in the context of modern warfare, it is not as relevant as your statement implys.

3. For them to be a dictatorship, they have to have a dictator, which they don't really. EDIT: Yes ok, they do resemble a dictatorship in some ways, but Wu Jintao does not have absolute power consolidated upon himself. Therefore, no dictatorship.

4. I've never heard them call themselves democratic, but they are hardly communists anymore. (Heloooooooooo Special Economic Zones!)

No goddammit! I hate when people say this! grrrr! Capitalism is a far better idea than Communism because Capitalism facilitates competition between large organizations to produce the best item. This is why the USA so far outstripped the USSR's technology! For instance: I believe than if the entire world had converted to Communism at the time of the Russian Revolution, computers would be either non-existent due to Stalin's ban on electronic research, or at most, still be at the stage where they were the size of refrigerators.
