Fitzgerald turned to block the knives leaving his back exposed to the archers in the distance. They let loose another volley, aiming squarely for the back of the juggernaut. The bolts hit home most scuffing off his glorious golden armour, however one managed to pierce the plate and bite into his side. The thieves he was charging ran back behind the rocks to rejoin with the others who were approaching the group.
At the request of Eovik I'm gonna say something for him when he's not here. Usually just for combat when not enough people are here.
Eovik drew his pistol from it's holster and fired off a few shots at the fleeing thieves but to no avail as he ran for a patch of cover to shield him from the bolts.

So much for backup from him... I thought he was a better shot than that Isaac takes aim at the archers above them and lets loose a hail of bullets hoping that they all reach their mark. I sure hope Fitzgerald's doing alright, its only an arrow but i'm not sure how many more are going to pierce it before help arrives

Trace shook his head, and drew his sword out. He did not raise it, he just left it hanging loosely by his side in his right hand. His other hand is raised into the air, charging a spell. He felt his energy flow into his hand, and let it go into the atmosphere, giving it shape. The shape he chose was a lightning bolt, directed towards the bandit leader.

He didn't pay much attention if it hit its target or not, but he knew it would at least by Taven some time. He brought up his longsword, facing towards the sky, but kept his left hand free for spells.

The lightning bolt arced across the air alongside the bullets Isaac had fired. The bright flash of energy distracting one of the archers causing him to unfortunately not get out of the way in time as the flaming bullet pierced his skull.

The bolt continued on causing the bandit leader to disengage Taven so he avoid being blasted by the spell. He charged forward once more however landing a heavy kick on the warrior and pushing him towards his bandit ally.

Trace looked at Taven, he would be fine for the moment, but he knew he would have to help unless he wanted to see him be impaled on a sword. He lowered his hand slightly and pointed towards an archer hiding behind some rocks. He charged some energy to his hands and let it out, slowly this time. He made it leak out of his hands, and aim it towards the archer. As it reached him, a smile crept across his face, and he said quietly, "Boom" as he snapped his fingers together. Igniting the energy around the archer, creating an explosion near him.

Trace stood out after that initial burst of magic. He had caught the attention of the archers and that was never a good thing. One of them leaned out and took aim as the Battlemage was preparing another spell. The bandit pulled the trigger half a second before the explosion rocked the air around him launching the burning and most certainly dead body flying forward; the trigger had still been pulled however. The bolt whistled through the air its trajectory affected by the explosion behind it causing it to cut a deep gash across the Traces arm instead of pierce his heart like intended. The remaining two archers fired off quick shots before using the cover to move to different locations.

Isaac looked over at Trace and smiled Damn, maybe I should have delved deeper into the arcane arts, those powers are tremendous "Nice work Trace, thanks for the backup" Are these the ones who killed that other scouting party? If say I'll make them pay... But for now I'll make my way back towards Trace, that way it'll be easier to protect each others backs Isaac sheathes his sword and starts running towards Trace, when he makes it he stops and turns around on a dime lifting his pistol and now steadying it with his other hand takes aim at the archers once more

For all those who are unable to act at this time, I'm basically leaving you alone. Except for you Czargent Sane. You were here at the start. =p Just assume that the rest of you are in cover for when you return, which is why I haven't filled your bodies chock full for crossbow bolts.

Isaac's bullet ricocheted off a rock and landed in a smoking heap at the boot of one the charging bandits. They were getting closer. The four worked the land well, weaving and rolling over obstacles that would have hampered anyone else.

One of them made a quick hand signal as he came out of his roll and another two bolts were shot from the crossbow, heading for the young artificer and his deadly mage ally.

The bandits then at the last second jumped off to opposite sides, lost behind the rock and hidden completely from sight.

Isaac quickly pushed Trace out of the way hoping to save him from the bolts heading towards the two of them Isaac then tried diving in the opposite direction but it was too late, he let out a sharp cry of pain as a bolt hit him in the shoulder. Isaac grunts in pain as he rips the bolt out. damn i'm just too nice oh well as long as Trace is okay, I wonder where Nailos is and how the others are doing Isaac quickly looked around the battlefield for a cluster of rocks or a fairly large tree to take cover behind. While running to cover Isaac takes a few pot shots at the leader hoping to distract him some more and to buy Taven more time

Trace looked at the man who could have just saved his life, he was hit, and he needed revenge for him. He charged at the archers, while discretely charging a spell. As he ran close, cutting down each arrow as it flew towards him, he stopped suddenly and slammed his fist into the ground.

The effect was immediate, using his magic he sucked energy from the earth, making a stronger spell, to have a spire of earth rise from the ground underneath the archers.

He ran back to Isaac, Damn, I don't know any healing spells. I always relied on Roxald. Wheres Nailos? I can at least make sure he doesn't get hurt. He dropped his sword to the ground and raised both his hands in concentration. A flame appeared there, and quickly expanded, forming a ball around Issac and Trace, it flickered quickly, and couldn't be seen anymore. "It's a spell, that should burn up all arrows before they hit you, unless they have magic arrows, which I doubt. I've set its focal point as you, when you move it will follow you, I suggest not doing much, its allot of effort to keep this up and to make it move is allot harder."

As he finished talking he jumped back out into the fight. I should fight normally, conserve energy he thought. And for th first time in the battle, gripped his sword with both hands to actually battle.

Garrant took several deep breaths as he moved swiftly but silently through the foliage, he could see an archer, he was deeply concentrated on pelting Garrant's new 'allies' with crossbow bolts and Garrant couldn't stand for that. He conjured one of the many stiletto's he hid around his body almost magically into his hands and he checked his surroundings one last time.

'Good, no sign of back-up, no sign of Kay...'

"Proceeding" he said under his breath involuntarily.

He sprinted forward silently, keeping low and silent, a skill practised to perfection from his days as a thief and used ruthlessly during his assassin days.

Three meters away he jumped and flew towards the man, the unfortunate archer looking up at the shadow approaching him a second to late. Garrant fell upon the man and they both crumpled to the floor, a second passed before Garrant stood once more, after retrieving his blade from the mans left temple. He looked around for a time and then set his sights on another archer, also absorbed in the process of harassing the others.

'Doesn't feel right, unfair advantage, will contemplate later' he thought as he moved swiftly to the next target, a shadow, a ghost, an assassin born once more.

Maverick's back was to a large stone formation, having weathered most of the Bandit's arrows. He had half a mind to run after the fleeing cowards, but his rational mind easily won the argument. He had endeavored to act as little as possible in the battle, his newly found Materials were almost upended and thrown down a cliff by a near hit from a Bandit Arrow.

He had spent the entire time in the battle quickly disassembling, then reassembling his Weapons. Reconfiguring them with the new Materials at hand. There was an instance where a Bandit had found Maverick, probably sent in a flanking maneuver, and attempted to rush The Artificer with his knives. Maverick, who had been partially finished with his pistol Modification, shot at the bandit. The Discharge was Fire related, and so burned out a good portion of his skin.

Unfortunately, Maverick had not yet modified the pistol for more than 1 shot. So the Bandit managed to escape before he could fire another round. Obviously taking his chances and deciding to leave when he could. The Artificer had shrugged and continued with his Modifications.

He replaced the nearly worn out catalysts with the new, more efficient Catalysts that the Royal Hound had given him. He modified the structure of the pistol so as to fire 6 rounds, though repeated, Unceasing use will easily destroy the Catalyst. Which would force him to replace it, which would cause a valuable loss in time. He modified the Rifle as well, adding a slot for a magazine, though he still needed to cock the Weapon. The Modifications would allow him to fire 5 rounds now. In addition, the Rifle had been re calibrated into firing Long Range shots. This would give him an advantage in the current situation, though he may or may not change it once again if they were to enter the cave. Thus making Long Range Useless.

These were all the modifications he was willing to do with anyone watching him however. He had used up a third of his Materials, and a Fourth of his Catalysts. The remaining pieces would allow him to build another Rifle, with a little less than half of the Catalyst remaining.

However, The Artificer wasn't planning on making another Rifle. There were other, more clandestine designs that he would not allow anyone else to see. That, he would create once they got back from this Useless Quest. Then, once the Hound had given him the rest of the Supplies, then he could continue with the other designs as well.

He crouched at his position, hand on his pistol, and his Rifle slung securely on his back. He pulled out one of his Knives, painted black and sharp enough to pierce through Leather Armor easily. He began to move towards the High Ground, allowing him to make use of his Rifle.

Before the quick flash of Trace's shield Isaac saw something from the corner of his eye. He waited and counted the shots being fired. Unless that one's taking his time to catch one of us off guard one of the thieves must have got him. Just in case i'll give them some cover fire to help them out. Isaac takes aim at the archers letting loose a few shots each time they raise their heads to buy his friends some more time to maneuver around the battlefield. I sure hope this works...

Its off to work for me again so i won't be able to reply for awhile

Maverick was sneaking his way to a fairly elevated mound of land when he heard the whispering shots of several Arrows being fired at once. He cautiously peeked up at the sight and immediately found 2 of the Bandits, tirelessly letting loose their arrows at his current Allies. The Artificer smiled and stealthily approached them, holstering his pistol as he did. He was close enough to lunge when he accidentally stepped on a branch that he had not accounted for. The 2 cutthroats immediately started turning around and Maverick jumped to action.

He used the knife on his left hand to stab the man's left arm at the forearm, rendering it useless for firing arrows. The man cursed and dropped his right arm to his dagger before Maverick stabbed him in the stomach, quickly negating that action. Maverick saw, out of the corner of his eye, the other bandit preparing to shoot. The Artificer immediately let go of his knife and initiated a choke hold on the Thief, not fast enough though, as one of the arrows pierced his left shoulder just before he could shield it.

'Okay. You're gonna die now. Nothing Personal....okay, maybe it IS personal. So sue me.' He gritted his teeth as he used his right arm to pull out the pistol from his holster and aim it at the other thief, using his captive's shoulder as a steady firing ground. He squeezed the trigger.

The Round burst out in a display of crimson fire as it raced to reach the opponent. The Thief had barely enough time to think 'Oh Sh-' before the round impacted on his Chest, breaking his ribs from the impact and boiling his blood and organs. The Artificer aimed slightly higher and squeezed out another round. This round was also bathed in crimson, as it impacted on the opponents throat. The Thief collapsed to the ground, clutching his throat as he slowly died.

Maverick looked at the captive he had and, once confirming he was dying, decided to kill him. His left arm grabbed hold of his knife, still in the Thief's stomach, and pulled as hard as he could. The Man's Intestines dropped to the ground as the Sharp knife cut through. Maverick grimaced in pain as his left arm continued to be a nuisance. He checked on the Pistol and realized that the next round was Earth Related. Unable to resist the experimentation, he aimed the gun to the dying man's head and pulled the trigger.

Blood and Gore exploded violently as the round penetrated, exited, and went forth from the man's head. Maverick was not the least bit bothered by the blood and looked quizzically at the impact that the bullet made. It had hit the ground and caused a small crater to from upon it. Maverick nodded and kept that as an Observation to be analyzed later. He looked at the other man, the one suffering from the Flames and fired his pistol again. An Earth round went forth and hit his body. While not as spectacular as the Headshot, he could still hear the Cracks of Bones and Organs as the Round shattered inside the man.

Nodding in assent, he reloaded his Pistol and quickly holstered it. He then pulled out his Long Range Rifle and, upon seeing the correct Round Configuration was used, laid on the ground and waited for a possible target.

An arrow--or bolt, she didn't know, nor care at that point--lodged itself into the earth by her left hand. She withdrew her arm and pushed her back tighter against the rock outcropping that was supposed to provide cover. So far it was doing a horrible job.

All around Kinglet the world was filled with the noise and smell of fighting. The fighting that drew blood, and filled the air with the distinct taste of copper. And all she could do was watch.

She had promised, had sworn. Worse, she had lost sight of Garrant. When the girl dove into cover, he had apparently slipped away, and no matter where she looked she couldn't find him. Whenever she tried to peek out from behind the rock, someone would spot her and decide to loosen an arrow into her direction, which would then either crack into the rock, or sail over her head with a THRUMMM as it cut the air.

Kinglet dropped her right hand and grasped the hilt of her dagger. The leather nuzzled her palm. It felt reassuring, encouraging. She should break her promise and go look for him. The young thief leaned against the rock again and peered around the corner. Her lips were drawn into a thin line and her heart was racing. She was so focused on trying to figure out her next step, that she didn't immediately notice one of the bandits that had flanked around the skirmish and was creeping up on her from the other end of the outcropping.

Maverick slowly breathed as he set his sights on the Rifle. There was a large array of targets. Ranging from the Archers who had not yet realized that the location where their allies had been stationed in had fallen. He knew that he could only fire several rounds before he would be forced to relocate, lest the Bandits figure out his position.

As he scanned the Battlefield, he realized that one of his 'Allies' was currently being stalked by a Bandit. From the looks of it, she seemed scared out of her mind. His eyes slid to the slowly advancing Bandit and decided to do her a slight favor. Favor because he was about to blast the Bandit's brains all over the Ground. Slight because he was going to wait until he came closer, so as for her to see what would have happened had he not interfered.

He waited for 10 seconds, watched with an Owl Like intensity as the Bandit prepared to move. There! He's about to lunge. A slight squeeze of the trigger and the Crimson Bolt left the Barrel, spiraling towards the Opponent's Body. He saw it strike the rough approximation of both the Bandit's heart AND Throat. He reloaded, allowing the spent cartridge to fall upon the ground as the new Shell automatically leapt to it's place. He aimed towards a group of Archers, who seemed to have finally noticed the deaths of their allies. Maverick smile cruelly as he aimed his sights upon the closest target.

Maverick saw his face explode from the sheer force of the Air Shell. It had gone in silently, leaving no Aura or Sign of Power. He immediately fired the remainder of his Magazine and got up from his position. He reloaded and switched to his pistol as he hunted for a new Sniping Position.

*Snap*

Another down, this one had to be taken out hand to hand because he wore a helmet, it had done its job in sustaining his life, if only for the three seconds more. He let the body fall to the ground, catching a glimpse of his foes already protruding and blue tongue, horrible memories tried to flood his mind but he shut them out, he had to focus.

From his concealed position he looked down upon the others, brawling away beneath him and making a hell of a mess, further behind was Kinglet, doing as instructed, Garrant smiled... And then he felt a chill go down his spine and the blood drain from his face.

Behind her was one of the bandits, stalking clumsily yet effectively towards Kay, sword in hand and a vicious look on his face.

He slid down the steep rocky incline he had been situated on top of and sprinted blindingly fast towards Kinglet and through the chaos around him, dodging the clumsy blows of the bandits and even his blood-drunk allies. He was nicked on the arm by a sword or a crossbow bolt, it didn't matter, he kept running and running. A horrible realisation came over him, he was too far away, he was not going to make it and as the thought set in, the bandit raised his sword.

He let out a cry as he continued to sprint towards Kinglet, his eyes frantic and his pulse hammering, the sword slashed through the air and then...

Dropped, it clattered to the floor besides Kinglet and her assailant stood wide eyed above her. A gaping hole had appeared in his chest and he only just managed to move a hand towards his injury before the life drained from his eyes and he collapsed onto the ground.

Garrant slid into the cover next to Kinglet and just sat for a moment, dumbfounded at her luck, almost overcome by the joy of seeing her alive. Looked up towards the outcropping once more just in time to see the barrel of a rifle disappear back into a bush, he didn't care who it was but right now he was the most grateful person in the world.

"Are you ok" he managed to ask, his composure slowly returning to normal, the emotions being locked away once more, to be replaced by a mask of neutrality.

Fitzgerald shouted out. " Merely a hornet's sting in the side of a bull." He saw that the bandits were aiming at his artifacer friend and that man with the blue hair. He did a slide infront of them, many arrows and bullets pounding on his sheild." When I say now, fire." HE used his highly glossed shield to send light into the eyes of the attacking bandits. "NOW!!"

Her eyes snapped to Garrant as she heard him and her heart jumped into her throat. The back of her neck tickled, and a cold hand gripped at her spine. It took her a mere heartbeat to register the shadow blot out the sun next to her, and realize that she was not alone and that the thing that flashed next to her was a sword and that she would feel the sting soon, be crushed, bleed to death, die, cease to be---

The girl let out a startled yelp. The bandit descended upon her. That he was actually dead by the time she turned to look she didn't realize until he staggered away from her. He fell to the ground with an ugly gurgle bubbling up his throat and lay there twitching while the life bled from him.

Kinglet stared at the body, her heart still thumping up in her throat instead of in her chest where it belonged. She heard the soft crunch of boots against the earth and the swish of cloth as Garrant slid down next to her, but it took his voice to shake her back into the now.

"Are you okay?"

No "Yes," she lied, eyes still on the dying man. She couldn't look at Garrant. He would see the fear in her eyes and he would send her away.

Don't look. Don't look.

"gah! you idiot! what the hell do you think you are doing!"
Taven screams in rage at the mage who tried to help him. he needed no help in this fight, and even if he did he would not want it. the man before him was a coward, a disgusting creature who hides behind tricks, who hides behind others. such a man was the very antithesis of Taven, and he would see him fall at his blade.
-dammit-
taven thinks as the boot connects, pushing him backwards.
-I had him there, why did the mage interfere!-
he tried to regain his bearings.
-focus. remember your training-
the leader was fast, and probably looking to counter with his lighter weapon. but he was filled with rage, and maybe careless.
at the man's next strike, taven locks swords with him. Taven steps in between his opponent's legs, takes hold of his chest with one gauntleted hand, and attempts to push him over the extended leg, tripping him and throwing downwards him onto the rocks headfirst.
