Garrant edged closer to Kinglet and when he was a meter away from her, he reached out and directed her head to face his, taking her gaze away from the visceral even to him sight of her assailant and towards his eyes. He looked at her for a second, reading the terror in her eyes, a terror he had not seen in her since he had sprung her from that mansion all those years ago.

"Come with me" was all he said in a flat, resolved tone. He moved a few meters towards the bushes before looking back and beckoning for Kinglet to follow him.

As much as he hated it, he would have to teach her how to fight and she would have to learn quickly.

Maverick jerked out the blade as he saw the Bandit's life fade away. He had found another Sniping Position, allowing him observation of the entire Battle again. He was about to crawl back to the Bushes when he heard the Patter of Hurried Feet. Maverick immediately hid in the bushes and pulled out his sidearm. He quickly looked to the edge and judged that it wouldn't be tall enough to kill him.

A single man appeared, apparently the partner of the man he killed. The Artificer shrugged and aimed his weapon at the man's center of mass, trusting his own skills that he would be able to kill the man before he could alert his opponents to his position. He squeezed the trigger multiple times, not taking any chances with the bandit.

The First 2 shots hit the man in the chest, Air and Fire Rounds. The Combination seemed to have a most interesting effect. While the air sliced the man apart due to it's power, the flames only grew stronger from the air and thus the man seemed to spontaneously combust. His body seemingly exploding to little chunks of meat.

This was NOT what Maverick wanted. He was about to curse the Gods when 4 men, attracted by the sudden explosion, rushed to the sight and immediately saw Maverick. They brought out their bows and attempted to open fire, but Maverick was not there anymore. He had jumped off the cliff, towards the pitched battle below. He landed with a deep crunch, his left arm having been dislocated by the fall.

Maverick grimaced in pain, he had been expecting that. To limit damage to his weapons, he had deliberately let his body take the brunt of the damage. He glanced up and saw to his irritation a Bandit coming to try and take advantage of his situation. He snorted 'Idiotic Fool. I still have my Right Arm'

He immediately lifted his sidearm at the man and pulled the trigger. The Earth Round Impacted right at center mass, the strength having broken the man's spine. He slowly stood up, his left arm hanging uselessly, as he began to seek shelter.

When Fitzgerald commanded it Isaac let loose another storm of bullets from his pitsol all aimed at the heads of the enemies he had blinded with his shield. It was harder to aim with the pain throbbing through his shoulder but he toughed it out to make sure his shots hit their mark. "Damn this hurts, I forgot how much a bolt can hurt, thanks for the protection there Fitzgerald. It's much appreciated" Isaac says with a grand smile

Maverick saw another Bandit come at him, blade raised high and desire to chop heads apparent. The Artificer immediately raised his right hand and squeezed the last round off. The Crimson round imbedded itself upon the Bandit's Collarbone and exploded. Maverick was momentarily thinking how he could possibly reload with one arm when he felt an Unknown Energy Source heal him. He felt his Shoulder pop painfully back in place and any other wounds quickly stitching itself.

He didn't waste the opportunity. He immediately ran as fast as he could towards a nearby rock formation and stayed in place. He looked to his right and saw another man, somewhat far off. He assumed he was the one who had healed him and waved his hand. Signaling that he appreciated the assistance.

He immediately took out his Rifle and ran farther back, ensuring that he had as much space between the Bandits as possible. As he slid to the ground, he saw two figures, a male and a female, from the corner of his eye. He was about to aim and fire his weapon at them when he realized that one of them was the girl he had saved earlier. He decided to figure it out later and aim his rifle to the Sniping Position he had just left.

Maverick saw one of the Men he had run from earlier, firing arrow after arrow at his Allies. He aimed his Rifle at the Man and squeezed. The Crimson Round punched through the man's gut as he fell. He was uncertain if he would live or not, most likely die seeing as his organs were fried. He cocked his rifle again and aimed for another opponent.

Kinglet sat stock still, her back planted firmly against the rock. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and forced herself to push aside the shame and humiliation. A moment ago all she had felt was fear, but all that was left now was the nagging thought of being.. well, rather useless.

Later then. The skirmish was still going on.

She opened her eyes, climbed to her feet, and followed Garrant towards the underbrush--hoping he wouldn't just hog-tie her to a tree and leave her until all the important business was done.

"You need to be aware of your surroundings" said Garrant as he pushed his way through the foliage, knowing that Kay was following him and that she would most likely be listening.

"During a battle, get out of sight, if you stay still you die" he said his tone very matter-of-fact and straight forward. This was the way he had taught her when they had first met, stating facts, showing examples, answering questions, issuing instructions and then the practical.

Garrant had always hoped that he could keep this side of his hidden from her, keep her thinking that he was a simple thief and nothing more, but now her safety was in the question and Garrant would sacrifice her opinion of him, if it meant she had the know-how to survive.

They reached a clearing and as Garrant had expected, there was a crossbowman, busy firing shots into frenzy below.

"Watch and learn"

Garrant stood from his hiding place and whistled, catching the crossbowman's attention instantly, the bandit began to bring his weapon to bare but Garrant was too quick, stepping in and snatching the weapon from his hands, firing it off into the air and throwing it down the cliff towards the battle.

The bandit drew a knife and charged Garrant, slashing at him but missing every time, the thief dodging each blow with razor sharp reflexes and timing. The man continued to thrust until Garrant performed a spinning dodge and tripped the bandit up, causing the man to fall to the ground. Using the time this gave him, Garrant turned to Kinglet, rotatinghis neck and cracking the joints as he did so.

"Now, lesson one, the soft spots"

The man stood, but Garrant was ready, his fists already blurring towards the mans weak spots, kidneys, neck, temples etc, but not as fast as Garrant was used too, Kay had to take notes afterall.

Watch ou--

The exclamation never made it past her lips. Garrant was on the unsuspecting man in an instant, disarmed him, and weaved in and out of his reach with frightening ease.

She'd seen him fight before. More than once. You didn't lead their life and expect to stay unseen and uncontested each and every day. Or night, for that matter. But those had been scuffles. Short and to the point and with the only goal to give them enough time to slip away, leaving the guardsman or militia holding a bleeding nose or cradling a busted knee.

This was different.

"Now, lesson one. The soft spots."

The strikes were precise, effective and no-nonesense-to-the-point. And Kinglet felt each one of them as she heard the impacts on the crossbowman's-sanse-crossbow body.

Stop!

But she didn't say it. Not aloud, anyway. What she saw frightened her. Frightened her more than the man who had been about to kill her. As Kinglet was not stupid. She'd watched Garrant as she had watched others. And she could tell that the way he moved was not something you learned strictly for survival.

Garrant looked into the mans face, it was swollen, bloody and bruised, his eyes bore a unmistakable terror, the terror he hadn't seen since his days in the Barrens, he'd hoped never to see it again. However this was for the greater good, better this man and a hundred more like him perish, than have any harm befall Kinglet. He let the man fall to the ground, he was, put simply, broken and then turned to Kinglet.

She looked not only utterly terrified but also robbed, she had begun to see what her mentor, her saviour was capable of, what he was and just as he had predicted, she didn't like what she saw. It saddened him to see her like that and the sadness even broke through his icy mask, his eyes cauldrons of regret and despair.

She shouldn't have come

He should have trained her beforehand

He should have TOLD her beforehand

"You need... to learn" came the almost feeble excuse from his lips, he avoided her gaze and returned attention to the man, he would spare this one, he had suffered enough.

Garrant stood behind the whimpering man and wrapped his right arm around his neck, squeezing, cutting off the oxygen flow to the brain and within moments the man was out. He flopped to the floor and Garrant stepped away from the limp man. A strange silence followed, he could feel Kinglet's eyes on him, he tried to ignore it as he sat down on a rock and regained his breath.

Fitzgerald turned his head, still keeping his shields up to cover Issac. "Its what I'm here for." Fitzgerald looked over to Taven fighting the leader deciding not to join and protect the rest of the group.

Trace saw the walking wall guard him and Isaac. Phh, I don't need a shield he thought as the blue haired mage clicked his fingers and the heat shield around Isaac disappeared. A rush of relief and energy went back into him, causing him to become dizzy for a few seconds, which he quickly got over.

Charging out from behind the barrier, a bandit wielding a two handed Great-sword charged him. The Bandit struck high, coming straight down on top of Trace, which he blocked using his weapon. The man would not let up and kept pushing down, trying to tire out the mage.

Trace looked down at his foot, and summoned two different types of energy down there, a fire energy and an electrical. The fire went to the base of his foot, which he unleashed to bring allot of extra power to his kick, aimed at the mans unprotected ribcage. The Electricity went to the top, causing nerve damage and the bandit to lower his arm.

The Kick hit him square in the side, Trace's foot left behind a trail of fire and motion blur as it broke 3 of his ribs. The sword weakened in his hands as Trace smacked it away, then a vertical slash along his chest.

Isaac see's Fitzgerald crush the bandits skull with his massive plate boot. Then from the corner of his eye he notices some movement Oh shit, he was just a decoy! "Fitzgerald, Trace! Heads up their coming our way!" Isaac tumbles around Fitzgerald drawing his sword and parrying a slash meant for his defender the bandit being stunned by his parry is caught off guard. When he raises his sword to strike again Isaac lifts his pistol and pulls the trigger

"Nice try, it'll take more than that to beat us" Isaac says with a smirk. As he dashes towards the other bandits firing his gun to keep them away from his allies. When he reaches them he easily dodges the clumsy swing and counters by swinging his blade around slashing the bandit from his shoulder down horizontally continuing all the way to his leg crippling the bandit.

Isaac kicks his newest victim into the other bandit to throw him off balance while following the bandit he lunges with his sword piercing through both of them.Looks like I got myself a bandit shish-kabob Isaac then places his gun on the back of his "shields" body and pulls the trigger a few more times to make sure both are killed

"They just keep coming, this is ridiculous" he mutters to himself

Trace turned around to look at Isaac, he seemed to be holding well, but he knew those guns couldn't shoot for ever, he would need help. Seeing no one in his current path, he turns around to try and help out Isaac.

He runs over and leaves a large gash on one of his victims neck. He was some how unnoticed during his first attack, but was quickly confronted by 2 bandits. 'Two People fighting together are more of a nuisance to each other than you' his masters voice went through his head. He smiled as he charged a small amount of fire to his hand, and let it run free through his sword.

Trace attacked first, lashing out at the first man. He tried to block, but Trace's fire induced sword cut straight through the bandits weapon, cleaving it in half. The attack just missed the bandit, sweeping in front of his face. With a worried look he saw his sword was missing a half, but he quickly pulled out a smaller dagger.

The fire running through his sword burnt his hand, so he sheathed it quickly, and tried to win with magic. Bringing his hands up into a punching position, a small amount of lightning appeared arching around his knuckles. The bandits shared worried looks with each other, but the one with the longsword attacked first, believing he had the range. He would quickly find himself wrong.

Dashing backwards, Trace let the sword glide effortlessly past his face. He followed with a quick jab into the air, which let lightning arc from his hand, into the mans face, and his eye. He dropped his sword as he held his head in pain, so Trace took advantage, running up quickly, and sending electricity through the nerves on his neck.

Kinglet frowned. The sounds of the ongoing skirmish still rang towards them clearly, but it's ininital rush had worn off. She found it hard to care. Instead she looked at Garrant sitting there, not looking back at her, and realized that it didn't matter if the suspicion creeping at the back of her head had been true or not. It didn't change her dept to him, or her gratitude. She was in no position to argue how he had kept her alive. What mattered was that he had.

And she might still be wrong. What if he was just tired, and her fear, her doubt, was all for nothing?

Find out

The young thief threw a look over her shoulder, then scanned the area. Since the battle was still going on they weren't exactly safe here, and Garrant didn't seem too focused right now. Turning her attention back to him, Kinglet crossed the distance with slow, light steps. She stopped not half a meter from him, squatted down with her hands placed on her knees, and tilter head while looking up at him.

"So teach me."

A bandit wielding a axe and shield charged Fitzgerald. He charged him with his shield, but Fitzgerald matched his move and they held eachother in a shield lock. He tried to send his axe around Fitzgerald's side , but he blocked it and shield bashed the bandit and knocked him over. and then crushed him with the edge of his shield.
