Nailos sighed "Very well then, please atleast try and rest to recover your strengh. We may need it later." After speaking his peace Nailos returned to his pipe and book, every now and then nibbling on food.
"We should probably set up watch rotations, you never know if those bandits are going to try to come back or not seeing as how their leader ran away. We wouldn't want to be ambushed, again" Isaac says to everyone (i'm assuming everyone, or at least mostly everyone is within earshot of me) "I'll stay up on lookout for a bit, anyone care to join me?"
What about Taven? He ran away after the conflict. So technically I have no Idea where He would be in relation to you guys. It seems like nobody notices he left but id he notice he ditched you guys? Better question, doe he care?
The peace of nighttime directly opposes the gruesome sight left below, the ground stained crimson from the blood of bandits and yourselves alike.
The two bandits you hold prisoner whisper quietly among themselves. Just loud enough that a slight breeze was enough to carry their voices to your ears. They look beaten and weary, and a growling sound can be heard from the pit of one mans stomach. They don't seem to notice that their talk is being overheard...
Nailos finishs the tobacco from his pipe marks his book and walks to Issacc. "I shall stand watch with you friend, perhapes it is best to stand near the prisoners, less they attempt escape and slit our throats under the blanket of darkness. I also worry of Taven he seems to have dissappered and I didn't see him when I was making my rounds. Though it is to late to be searching for him, we should keep a eye out."
Trace lay down on the ground near Nailos and Issac. "Is there any way your magic can replace lost energy? Cause this head ache is killing me" he said as he rubbed the side of his temples. The bandits words hit his ears, so he yelled out at them, "If you guys try and escape, or even think about it, I'll send enough electricity through you to incapacitate your legs for a week."
He didn't care if that sounded harsh, he didn't want them escaping.
"Thank you my good friend, it is nice to see someone volunteer for this job so quickly. Not many people do. And I worry about Taven too, he is headstrong and easy to agitate. If we want to get through this alive we all need to learn to work together despite our many differences" Isaac says shaking his head "What do you make of our fellow allies, and even of myself?" Isaac asks now with a quizzical look on his face
"Well yes but I've grown tried though..." Nailos said wearily, he had a recipe for a herbal drink but it required a fire to cook it. A risk that he wasn't sure he wanted to take. "Well trace I could boil a nice herbal drink for everyone here but a fire might draw unwanted attention, I am no authority here nor a leader. If the others think it is worth the risk then I will prepare it."
"You think fire is a problem?" Trace asked Nailos hypothetically, he raised his hand and made a small flame appear at his fingertips, "I'm a mage, I can boil it without a fire." He motioned with his hand if hw could throw it over to him.
"I dont think it would be horrible if you started a rather small fire here. I don't know what the others would say if they even cared at all. We could always just move camp a little ways away if we felt the need"
"Or Trace could just go and do that, that also works. What's it like Trace? To have such tremendous power at your fingertips like that. I've always wondered what it would be like since I gave up that power a long time ago so I could learn the intricacies that tie magic to machinery"
"Hmm, I suppose that will do." Nailos reached into his bag and pulled out a small leather pack, with a rich smell to it. "Do we have a pot in which to boil this.? Oh and to answer your question earlier Issac.
I think we are a diverse group and I think that is were our strengh lays, the warriors bold tatics, the Maverick and his cold logic, the thief couple and their subtly, Traces bold magic and somewhat caring ways, and you Issac and your masters courage and balance. That is were we draw such a strengh that I have never seen in my life, though we often get in conflicts amongest ourselves I think in time we will put them aside." Nailos took a deep breath and sighed. "Hopfully we will be able to put aside our differances soon."
The thieves look to Trace at his threat, one of them spitting on the ground in response as they fall silent, their fidgeting and commotion halted for the moment.
Stupid dumb mage, thinks he's all that. The boss'll come back fer us. Then he'll see, I'll gut him personally I will. Think I'll start by taking off those pesky hands of his though. Take away his magic and blade and he can't do anything... Wouldn't want him to bleed out so we'd stick the stumps in fire..... Oh yes that would be quite nice indeed....... Thought one of the bandits as he drifted off into unconsciousness.
Trace laughed, and he put his hand back to the ground, ripping out a chunk of the earth. He molded it to e come the shape of a bowl, then burnt it, cleaning it with the fire. "That should do" He tossed it towards Nailos. He sat up, resting his elbows on the ground, "I don't know Isaac. I was taught how to refine my skills at a young age, so I don't know anything else really." his head was downcast, as if he missed the thought of being normal for once, "But I suppose its nice, it's really helpful, but a massive burden at the same time. Do you know how much hours I have to study and practice per day?" he paused for a few seconds, he was going to answer his own question, "5 Hours per day."
"Excellent" Trace smiled, this head ache was driving him nuts, it was really hard to sleep when your head feels like it's splitting open. He sits up properly and takes the bowl from Nailos.
He sends some energy to his hands, heating the bowl up, the ingredients quickly begin to boil, large bubbles begin rising out from the mixture, "Is that enough?" he asked Nailos, not wanted to ruin his drink.
Trace took the cup readily and drank it, he used some of his magic to cool it first, so it wouldn't burn his throat, to bad though, that it still burnt. Not from the heat, from the taste.
He gagged slightly, but held it down. "Bleh. Thats horrible... But I suppose my head aches gone, thanks." he said as he rested the cup back down, and rested his entire body back down again.
"I'll gladly have some, thank you Nailos." Isaac says as he takes a glass from Nailos gulping it down as quick as he can so he can barely taste it. "A trick I learned to cope with Master Eovik's cooking" He says with a laugh.
I sure hope we can put all our differences aside soon... This will be alot harder if we can't
Isaac peers into the darkness around them "Had it not been for these bandits I would spend the night gazing upon these stars. Now I have to waste it on looking for reinforcements. And Taven. I hope he's alright, he's a fierce warrior but he lets his emotions control him, he needs patience, but i'm sure there's resoning behind why he is the way he is
Sorry if my posts are rather "lacking" i'm at work so i can't spend as much time thinking as i'd like to
Nailos swished the elixer in his cup before drinking it slowly savioring every taste. "Hmm" he said with satisfaction. "Surprised you guys didn't find the drink tasty, I guess it is a aquired taste." He finished his drink and pulled out his corncob pipe and sat there in the stale darkness. Happy to be there in the company of good people, he hoped to call friends someday.
I knew I would be busy, so I momentarily removed Taven from the area.
a short distance away, behind a small stone outcropping, Taven has made camp. the smoke from his fire should be visible to the others.
when Taven got there, he was breathing heavily. he wasn't running to catch his opponent. he didn't really know why he was running.
-I dont need them. I dont need anyone-
he removed his helmet. it hung limply in his hand.
-its better if I dont get attached.-
he let it drop to the ground. he slowly removed the rest of his armor, and sat leaning against the cold, rough stone around which he chose to make camp.
he built a fire, striking the flame from tools in his pack.
-still, best let them know I'm here. If that even matters to them.-
his armor lay nearby, carelessly dropped. only his swords sat, placed with care, on top of his pack, by his side.
the fire creates a clear line of smoke, and light enough for the others to see
Taven picks up his helmet by the bottom of the faceplate. his stare poured into the helm, and his iron reflection returned his gaze.
"I see a fire, could that be Taven perhaps. I'll go check it out, its not too far away from here I should be fine. I'm not sure who else would take up lookout duty if we all went, and you'll definately hear me if anything dares to try and attack me" Isaac says with a laugh. He waves farewell to Nailos and Trace They'll be fine without me for now, hopefully that IS Taven otherwise I might be in trouble...
