Fitzgerald had finished replacing the blessings on his armor and watched from the log he was leaning against as the group cooked their tea. A new day soon aproaches, I held my vows and protected my allies. Tommorow will be another trial where I shall stand again. With that Fitzgerald allowed himself to sleep.

Taven was drifting into sleep. his thoughts weighed heavily on him, as did the day's activities.
-what was that?-
he heard something, something like...
-a footstep!-
his eyes snap open. he rises, drawing his katana from the ground in one motion, holding it vertically in both hands close to the right side of his chest. he slowly circles the fire, keeping his back to it, looking at the surrounding area. the campfire cast Taven's silhouette as he prepared himself for whatever was approaching him

As Isaac approaches the flame he draws both his sword and his pistol I would hate to be caught off guard by more of those bandits, I'd look like a fool to everyone Isaac lets out a small inaudible chuckle to himself. Isaac readies himself as he turns the corner prepared to parry any sword or dive back around the corner if need be. Well here goes nothing!

Taven turns to face the approaching man, sword ready.
-wait... he's one of the others, what is he doing out here?-
he slowly lowers his katana
"what are you doing out here at this time of night?"

Garrant sat atop the cliff and gazed down into the valley below, he could make out the groups campfire, a tiny speck off in the distance, flickering like a firefly in the pitch blackness, that seemed to swallow everything around them.

He'd had to get away, to get some respite and to think about the situation, that was rapidly spiralling out of control.

He'd sworn to leave his killing days behind, sworn to shelter Kay from that world and he had failed. He didn't even know why he was taking them on this ridiculous excursion, not even all the gold in that Elven lords coffers could compensate them for this, yet why was he staying?

'I enjoy it' came the insidious little response to the unasked question, weaselling its way into the front of his conciousness, like a thief into a poorly secured mansion.

He continued to sit and contemplate, gathering his thoughts and analysing, this and that, watching over the valley and generally thinking.

Eventually he broke himself out of his trance and descended from his perch, he was not going to solve his problems by running away like last time, he needed to tackle them head on.

And so, in the pitch black, he made his way back to the camp.

Sorry for the crappy post but 15 units of alcohol (minimum), 2 hours of sleep and a 10 mile walk (at 7am), will fuck up a dudes thinky word brain

"I saw a small fire and decided to check it out, I had hoped it was you. We were worried when you left and didn't come back, its too dangerous to be out alone like this. The bandits could return at any moment so we need to be on our guard and to stay together, not abandon each other like this"

Yeah I've done the same, although we stayed up all night then decided to walk from a friends farm to town for breakfast at McDonalds... what a horrible idea

"I havent abandoned anyone. from the start I was not traveling with your group."
he sheathes his sword and lowers himself down so he can carefully place the sword where it was.
"and anyways, I dont want others fighting for me"

"We don't fight FOR you we fight WITH you, if you want to go it alone then thats fine with me. Its your decision and I don't plan on fighting you over it. All of us were chosen for a reason, if we don't stick together then everything turns to shit and people die, and I don't want that on my conscience. But I'll respect your wishes and depart if you insist, i'm glad to see that you are unharmed and I hope that it continues to stay that way"

Isaac stares at Taven, anger building but he also shows great concern for him as he turns and starts walking back towards the other camp.

"If you wish to come join the rest of us you are more than welcome, and if not that is also fine. Goodnight Taven, and may the gods watch over you this night." Isaac says as he waves his hand farewell

Nailos had started up a small campfire despite his fear, he had heard Isaac arguing with Tavan from here. He thought if Tavan wanted to come back to the camp site tonight, it would be easier for him, if there was a light guiding him to us... Or guide the enemy. Nailos pushed those thoughts away he was becoming to paranoid.

Kinglet had huddled up with her back to the fire. She refused to have her night vision ruined, knowing well that keeping an eye on the dark spread around them was more important than comfort. She had learned her lesson on vigilance once already a few hours ago, she did not want another serving of the same.

Where Garrant was she did not know. He'd slipped away in his usual, quiet manner, and would return whenever he saw fit. To worry would just be a waste of nerves. And there were other things to turn in her head, to scrutinize and weight.

The girl slid a hand into a pant pocked and produced the three wooden juggling balls. She started tossing them into the air while her mind wandered. It was meant to calm her, focus her, and so it did, though the crystal clear and simple thought that forced itself to the surface scared her.

Could she take a life?

Nailos noticing Kinglet's troubling arua decide to try and consalet her. The words of his old teacher echoed in his head. "Mental health is just as important as physical health Nailos, it is your job not to fight but to make sure everyone else can." He sat a couple of feet away form Kay and said "Hello Kay what seems to be troubling you?"

She caught each ball fluently and looked towards Nailos.

"What?"

...to answer a question with a question, gave time to think of the answer. Kinglet had to learn the hard way that speaking your mind without first considering was a bad habit she had to get rid of.

"Nothin' is troubling me," she said and put the cheerful, easy smile on her lips that lifted itself to her eyes, giving it credibility. "I might be a bit tired from escaping death today, but anyone not shaken by their mortality would be a foolish man. Don't you agree?"

Nailos knew she was hidding something but he was being to get tired so he thought it was best to just let this matters sort themselve out for now. "I suppose so, just remeber hidding your feelings can hurt you just as much as exposing them. Now if you forgive me I shall be going of to be keep a look out." Nailos walked back to his resting area and laid down his head and quickly fell asleep without a moments thought.

Trace saw that Nailos did not wish to press on Kinglet about her past or her problems, but he was in a talkative mood, so he sat up and crawled to be next to her, then lay back down, facing the stars, "I know it's hard to talk about, but keeping things inside never helps" he smiled at her, he may be with these people for a while, so he wanted to enjoy their company.

"Thank you for looking out for Kay" came a whisper from behind Maverick, it was a few meters away so that if Maverick was one of the jumpy types, Garrant wouldn't be skewered but close enough to be heard by Maverick alone.

Garrant remained in the shadows, unseen and shrouded by darkness, enveloped in HIS element.

He would stop by and converse with Kay after this, besides, right now she was busy being assailed by mage after mage and so she would be busy for the moment.

She palmed one of the wooden spheres, while the others had returned into her pocket. When Nailos left she had felt both relief and a pang of regret; being a street performer had imprinted her with a certain need for companionship, or--to be more precise--someone to entertain.

A shuffle of feet, followed by the rustling of cloth next to her, made her turn her eyes up to see Trace. The stranger had crawled over to her and was now lying on the ground, face turned upwards towards where the skies were sitting, perpetually out of reach.

"I know it's hard to talk about, but keeping things inside never helps"

She quirked a slender brow at him as he smiled at her.

"In my experience if you tell a stranger of your woes, they tend to drift into boredom or jest. If we're to pretend I have a woe that needs to be heard, then that would make you the stranger, and subject me to a hearty yawn or joke on my behalf."

The girl extended her free hand across towards the reclining man.

"Kay is the name."

Trace yawned and stretched, but he kept his ears sharp. He reached and grabbed her hand, he had been introduced to proper noble ladies, so he shook her hand that way, it was a process imprinted into him. As he shook her hand, he realised what an idiot he made of himself by doing it that way, he blushed, which luckily the darkness covered the majority of his embarrassment.

Scratching his head, he responded, "My names Trace", and beamed another smile at her, "Don't worry, I am practiced at pretending to listen." he boasted, the smile had spread even wider, but quickly turned sour as he let his head rest on the ground.

He closed his eyes as he felt the wind brush against his cheek, it felt satisfying knowing that he could change that if he wanted, "But if you really want a serious conversation, I can be obliged to do that." he said as he kept his eyes shut, focusing on the wind and his voice.

Maverick's eyebrows raised and, in a younger time, would have pumped all 6 bullets from his Pistol into the Figure that had snuck up on him. He had not. He had grown experienced enough to know such acts of Random Violence were uncalled for. If the Figure wanted him dead, then his throat would already be slit.

The Artificer turned around and momentarily saw only Shadows. Once his eyes adjusted however, he saw the figure of a man, a Thief obviously, standing in the shadows. His mind ripped apart the Info he had on the team and, in conjuncture with the Man's sentence, must mean that he was Kay's....brother?

Maverick turned around to face him and said "Don't thank me. She was a Teammate, and she was in danger. I have a responsibility to make sure her head stays on her shoulders. However." He started to squint at the Man, pretending disapproval. "You bring a Girl with so little Fighting Ability to this kind of mission? Why? From what I gather, you're her Guardian right? Her....brother? If so, why does she know so little?"

.....and so the Manipulations begin anew. Bring on your worst.

"Our reasons are our own" he said, the conviction in his voice much stronger, than the amount he actually felt, he still had to keep up appearances around their 'team mates' and it wouldn't do to have them second guessing him. He'd need to show them all his resolve and that Kay was not his weak spot, despite the fact that she was.

"Besides, she will learn, she has it in her" he continued, not bothering to correct the man, for brother was a pretty appropriate title, one that he would do his best to live up to.

Well Garrant isn't the manipulator that Neria is but he can hold his own, En garde!

"Trace," she echoed. "Far as I know, all men learn at a young age to pretend a woman's words can be the sole object of their attention. Most of them fail horribly though."

She slipped her hand away again, nestled her shoulders back against the boulder that she was propped up against, and began tossing the wooden ball into the air. Each toss she threw it higher, inching closer to the night-time ceiling.

"Don't worry though, no need. All that bothers me is that I almost died today. Chilling thought, that."

The juggling ball landed in her open palm with a thud once more, and she wrapped her fingers around it. Then she looked at Trace.

"What's it you're doing here? In that raggedy-rag-tag group?"
