"I suppose there would be water near there. It looks safe enough to venture towards and if there is any danger the other would be able to hear and see us."

Nailos was more worried then he acted, but he was starting to feel his over planning and paranoia was going to start holding the group back.

"Well then lets be off then shall we?" Nailos collected his bag and canteens.

"Alright then, lets go" Isaac smiles and nods to Nailos. He's got something on his mind that he's not telling me... Could it be that he's just worried that we might be attacked while hunting or is it something else? Maybe I'll ask along the way, that way he might answer since we won't be near everyone else and maybe it'll provide some "bonding" between party members. He's nice, probably even to a fault as well as he cares more about others than he does himself. He'll be a great cleric one day, I'll have to make sure to protect him if anything happens

"Trace? Master?" Isaac calls out trying to see if either are awake yet or not. "Me and Nailos are going ahead to catch some fish for breakfast. We're heading towards those caves to the East where Tanan said the water elementals are supposed to be. We'll see you there. If any trouble comes our way I'll give you the signal alright Master?" And with that Isaac starts walking with Nailos towards the eastern cave

"Hmm" Nailos mused "You don't suppose that there is any dangers at the mouth of the cave do you? Taran was very unspecifce as to details but I it should be fine... I seem to worry more than I should though dealing with thiefs and the likes have made me a little more, cautious of my surroundings."

Nailos feeling a little better about getting his worries off his chest, thought this would be a good time to here Isaac's tell.

"So Isaac how did you and your master stumble apon joining this little group? If you don't mind me asking."

Trace had been up for hours compared to Isaac and Nailos, it was a force of habit due to his training. He had woken up before the sun had risen, and walked off by himself. Admiring the cool air rush across his face, the stars shining in the sky, and the moon, providing as much light as it could.

He drew his longsword out, quickly embedding it into the ground. Crouching before the sword, he sent a small amount of energy into it, before standing back up. He looked around, seeing nobody remotely near him, it had taken him a 20 minute walk to get there by himself. He sat back down, taking his time, he needed to be as comfortable as possible, he would be there for a few hours.

After having the ground set up the way he wanted, he crossed his legs, closed his eyes, and shut off his mind. The task of shutting off his mind, took many years to achieve, but now he could become calm and precise at any moment. The only thing in his mind, was his masters voice. Let your mind go blank, concentrate on one specific thing, then let that slowly go from your consciousness. he did as instructed, and was quickly just a floating shell of what was Trace. Except this was much different to sleeping, it didn't rest his body, it took energy to perform. The entire time he was meditating, energy was forming around him, swirling around him, forming a shield.
_____________________________

Trace's trance was broken as sunlight hit him. He let his energy slowly form back into him, refilling his supply. He took out his sword, which had grown icy to the touch. He sheathed it and began his trek back towards the camp.

When he was close, a call hit his ears, it could clearly hear his name, but not the rest of it. He broke into a run, meaning to catch up to them.

When he could finally see them, he shouted and waved, "Oi! What did you want?"

Sleep had come easy. It tended to, for Kinglet. If she could fall asleep in an oaktree, she could very well sleep tight on a makeshift bed of cloth and leaves. When she woke the camp had already begun moving. She propped herself up on an elbow and looked for Garrant, even before yesterday's events pierced the lull of sleep still clinging to her thoughts.

They didn't seem too bad after a nights rest.

That brought a smile to the young woman's face, and she crawled from her nest, gathered her things, and slipped away towards the nearest water source to freshen up. She just hoped they wouldn't all leave without her.

Maverick woke up to the Dawn Light that had woken the Artificer from his Disturbed Sleep. Nothing new anyway, merely replayed memories of when Horus and the rest of his family betrayed him. Though, and rationality would say so, he should be beyond that already. Had he not done worse? Experience Worse than what those fools sitting on their little Golden Thrones ever did? No. He Should be beyond simple pain like that. But he wasn't.

'Thus is the folly of the Flesh' Maverick thought wryly. He stood up, the Light washing away the clinging arms of his Dream, and stretched for a few moments. He saw the slight commotion in the camp and realized that the time has come. He stoically checked his weapons and, after confirming they were in proper condition, he began to walk with the rest of them. His eyes calmly and analytically scanned the terrain they were all in.

"Trace, me and Nailos are heading towards those caves to the East, they seem to be our destination anyways. We figured there would be a stream or ravine of some sorts so that we could go catch some breakfast so that we could use our rations sparingly. You up for a walk ahead of the others? If not thats fine with me. Me and Nailos should be able to handle ourselves but you're more than welcome to tag along. We're leaving ASAP so if you plan on joining us then you'd best hurry up"

Kinglet adjusted her footing on the rough bark of the tree. Below her the ground was eagerly awaiting her to slip and break a few bones upon impact. She reinforced her grip on the branch she was clinging to, and stretcher her other arm farther and farther out along its lengths. Eventually her fingers touched the fruit that had been teasing her from it's heights. She grasped it, plucked it, and shoved it into a makeshift bag. The bag was really her soft, outer shirt slung around her waist, which left her slender arms uncovered and her upper body wrapped in tight fitting leathers with a soft gray undershirt beneath.

Triumphant at last. With the last fruit the bag was now filled to the brim.

She threw a look over her shoulder and down, plotted her path along branches and the remains of some, and then made her way back to the bottom. Her feet and hand moved quickly and precisely, not once pausing, let alone slipping. Until a branch broke beneath her weight, anyway.

It gave an almost deafening crack in comparison to the otherwise tranquil forest, and Kinglet joined it with a stifled yelp. At first she clung on to the branch above with her hands and put her feet up against the trunk. Then the branch she was hanging from decided to bend and give way too.

Kinglet decided that jumping was a much more dignified way to end her excursion for fruit than falling. She pushed herself away from the tree, sailed through the air down to the forest floor, and caught her fall in a practiced roll. Someone else might have broken bones. Not so Kinglet.

The girl stood, and without wasting another moment, ran in a circle collecting the fruit she had dropped in the tumble. Then she orientated herself against the trees around her, and jogged back towards the camp. When she reached them she had already picked the best of her collection of fruit, cleaned it dutifully against her pant leg, and was scanning the area for Garrant.

What he had said last night, that he had failed her, was still nagging at her. And since she couldn't think of another way to work against the gloom that had settled over them, Kinglet thought a fruit might just do to show she had not forgotten and would be forever grateful.

... thought now that she was thinking about that and looking at the silly fruit, she figured she was just making an idiot out of herself.

Oh well.

Garrant caught the knife once more and delivered another slash to the tree infront of him, making the grand total of slashes 307 by his count, though it looked like less because they were clustered around neck level on the tree. The tree also spotted, seemingly randomly, with stab marks but if one were to look closely, they would discover that the stabs would be deadly if applied to a human body, with the stabs centred on the temples, throat (once more), armpit, chest and groin.

500 stab marks in total.

He'd been working on the tree since he had left Kinglet the night before. He had not wished to sleep and certainly wouldn't have been able to. He kept going over what Maverick had said, that he was a monster, that youth didn't even know the half of it. Garrant knew he bore this label however, he'd accepted it ever since he'd seen the blood on his hands that one fateful time. It had been the first time he had ever felt sickened after a kill, the first time he'd ever...

He pushed the thoughts from his head as he slashed on the tree once more, sending chips flying from it. He stood back and felt the warm sun on his head and neck, alerting him that it was most likely time to get back to the others and so he sheathed his stiletto in his cloak, pulled up his hood and began to make his way back to the camp.

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Garrant re-entered the camp area studying his right hand through the hole in his glove, it had been closed pretty decently and the salve had helped, yet it still ached and there was a nasty blister right between the knuckles of his first and fore-fingers. He resisted the temptation to just pop it and approached Kay, who was carrying a bunch of strange fruit.

'What is she doing?' he thought as he chuckled inwardly to himself.

"I suppose we should catch up to our 'companions'"

Sorry, I'm at work and have been speed reading and missed this part
"Well How my master Eovik came to be here in Kharn would be a question you would have to ask him. I'm completely unaware as to how he managed to wind up here like the rest of us. I on the other hand have been travelling across Roissha for the last few years, well more like wandereing I guess. I've been to many places learning to further my knowledge of the intricacies that tie both magic and machine together as well as helping those in need as much as I could. I wound up in Kharn because while I was travelling I had a very close friend, one whose life was taken before my very eyes. I heard that the man responsible was there, or at the very least had stopped there on his way through.

I wouldn't say exactly that i'm out for revenge, but I can't deny that the thought doesn't regularly cross my mind. It's not right to take another mans life, we don't have the right, it's not our decision. I've learned that much over my years of wandering. But I also know that in order to help those in need those who are good need to survive. I made a promise to my friend that I would fight the injustices that I see and that I would never give up, that I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger when I had to.

You could say that there's a conflict going on inside of me, with the persona that you currently are seeing and the one that everyone usually tends to, but there is another half. One that craves for revenge and the destruction of those who oppose me, it last showed itself when I talked to those bandits we captured, it's hard to contorl sometimes, If it had not been for master Eovik I may have succumbed to those urges a very long time ago..."

Fitzgerald arises, his hair is still in perfect condition despite all that has appened. A gleaming light passes off of his hair and he looks to see Avalon neighing nearby." Come Avalon, we have much to do today."

"Quickly eh?" Trace said to himself. He continued running, thinking about many ways to get over there quickly, but all seemed to require energy, or explosions. He decided against the explosions.

By the time he had thought of a suitable way to get closer to the group, he had already reached them. He let out an audible sigh and groan. "Aww, that would have been cool." he said to himself.

He straightened himself up, and fixed his sword, "I doubt Nailos could really hold his own." he jested.

Kinglet held the fruit up to Garrant, without further explaining.

"Mh. I suppose we should," she said. "Don't want to miss rooting around in caves and tunnels."

Nailos Smiled "Why would I need to hold my own when I have such fine and strong compains such as you guys?"

Nailos near his strengh didn't lay with himself but with those he followed and was fine with that, even though he wished he could be strong or powerful sometimes, but that wasn't him.

Edit this post felt like it was really lacking

"Thanks" said Garrant gratefully as he took the piece of fruit from Kinglet, affording her a small smile. He gestured to the path the others had taken and they began to walk, side-by-side, Garrant eating the fruit as they did so.

"So" he said after a moment, breaking the silence.

"You haven't told my what your thoughts were when you found out" he asked, a slight hint of hesitation in his voice.

Eyes to the ground, watching where she stepped, Kinglet kept pace with Garrant. His question had her hesitate, so she stalled by grabbing another fruit from the makeshift bag.

"If I say I didn't care, I would be lying. If I say I was disgusted, I'd be lying just as much," she said, unable to find better words for it.

"You could have told me right from the beginning, but then again I never asked. So would I have had the right to know?" She chewed on the fruit, savoring the taste--or tried to at least, it wasn't really as tasty as she had expected. Rather sour, bitter. The girl spat out the chunk and threw the fruit over her shoulder without looking if someone was behind them or not.

"I don't think so. And it's not that what bothers me. It's..." She glanced at him, light eyes lingering, studying for a moment, before averting them back to the uneven ground, watching her feet. "...I don't know."

I wanted to be like you.
I thought I was like you.
Tried to be.
Now I know I'm not.
What now?
Can I still be?
Do I want to?

The confusion was leaving a rightful mess in her head. She had thought that sleep had sorted it, but it evidently hadn't.

Maverick looked at the Pine Tree and calculated the distance between himself and it. He gave the distance at around 720m and mentally calculated his Rifle's current strength and effectiveness. The Artificer decided to give it a try and laid on the grass, calibrating his Rifle as he did.

He had been practicing his aim ever since he woke up 2 hours ago, though he had not thought to discharge his weapon until now. All of his companions were all awake and rested, meaning that if an Opponent would appear, he had enough Meatshields to allow a Bullet to pass through his Head, sending him into Fiery Oblivion.

He aimed the Rifle just above his target, his Reticule sighting the leaves just below it. He looked at the Grass between him and the tree and compensated for the Wind Speed. His breathing slowed as he entered the Cold and Calculating mind frame necessary for a Sniper. He slowly pulled the trigger until it was just about to discharge his weapon when he stopped. He waited for a few tense minutes until the wind began to give a little before discharging his weapon.

The Rifle gave a Rough Bark as Crimson fire flew out of the weapon. He watched as the fire ate up the air directly in front of it, giving the illusion that the bullet was a mage bolt for a few seconds before it Impacted. The Bullet Impacted directly on the tree, to be more specific, at the point where the Trunk began to diverge into the many branches holding it's leaves. The Bullet's Impact didn't seem impressive from this distance, a dull glow, nothing more, but The Artificer was sure of the Lethality of his shot.

He frowned at his hands for a moment. He had thought to hit the Trunk dead center, the fact that it moved upward like that meant that either his aim, calculations, or the Rifle itself, was wrong. His face moved into a mask of disgust. 'Of that had been Horus, I would have missed him entirely! I would have simply burned through one of his guards, giving away my position. Sure, I probably would have clipped his cheek or something, but he would still be alive.'

A loud crackling tore him away from his dark thoughts as the Tree caught fire. He nodded, having expected such a reaction. The Rifle was not particularly strong, having been made hastily on the spot as Maverick attempted to leave with his Life intact, but it was still an Effective Fire-based rifle. While the Bullet did not explode magnificently, it made up for it in sheer Subtlety.

A target hit by the bullet would, of course, feel the sting. But he would believe himself to be alive and well, thinking the Magitek Rifle having malfunctioned. The Rifle, of course, had not. But the Deception was necessary for 10 seconds, once the delay was over, the man would die. No Power in the world would be able to stop it.

The Heat from the rifle would spread deep within the Target's body. Since the Magic was deeply concentrated within the small bullet, all of it going into the Target's body would hardly be felt. The Magic would then quickly multiply, spreading it's feelers across the entire Biological Being until it was sure that all there was to consume was present. Once done, the Magic would show it's prescence, burning Skin, Melting Bone, and Boiling Blood. The Target would typically die writhing in pain for 13 seconds, nothing anyone could do would be able to stop the Taint.

That had all been experimental until now of course. He had modified his rifle earlier that night into it's present Form. His Pistol remained largely unchanged, besides the fact it now exclusively threw Body shattering Earth Rounds at his enemies.

Maverick got up and realized that the majority of the Camp had bone on ahead to the Caves. While this annoyed the Artificer slightly, it also made sure that no one knew of his Rifle's new Modification. He sighed as he began to walk, looking for the others and wondering if he could entrap any of the Water Elementals under the Caves.

"You should be disgusted" said Garrant, his voice a soft murmur, it had a darkness to it that chilled even him.

"I would have told you from the beginning, but I thought that life was over, I saw no reason to burden you with the information but looking back... I should have"

"Being disgusted would have made me miserable," she looked at him again, a weak but persistent smile on her lips. "And I have no business being miserable, especially with a perpetually gloomy ass like you around. If I don't shine a bit of light on you, who else will."

Kinglet looked ahead again, though this time she kept her eyes on the backs of their travel companions and brothers at arms, or whatever one might want to call them.
