Meh. Citizen Kane and Vertigo both aren't that great to me. Sound, sure, but great? I'm filled with an unimpressed mind on this one. Of course, my tastes are a lot different than what a film critic's are.
upon reading this my instant reaction was "well that guys clearly 12" and moved on to read other replies. it wasn't to start ripping on the guy for an (albeit fucking stupid) opinion. leave off guysmattttherman3 said:The Dark Knight Rises is the best movie of all time. What do you mean? Michael Bay is the greatest thing to happen to movies ever. His clearly superior understanding of pacing, humor, character development, and spatial editing during action sequences are second to none, and who doesn't love the unnaturally orange skin of his actors? Pearl Harbor is a true American classic and a reverent reminder of what happened on that fateful day, and I wouldn't have it any other-gunny1993 said:One second, you're an AMURICAN. That makes Pearl Harbour your favourite movie and your idol is Michael Bay .... lol, can't even keep a straight face whilst writing this.
trty00 said:Wait... do you think my favorite movie is TDKR? Because it's not. And instead of just asking the guy why TDKR is his favorite movie, you called him "sad." There are ways to disagree with people without being mean! Finally, you ARE being a jerk. Why? You're touting your opinions as complete and utter fact, you're being completely unironic about it to.Lee Quitt said:trty00 said:You said it "was sad" that the guy's favorite movie was TDKR. That's... pretty "blatant" to me. Not to mention, "great" is completely subjective. If someone came up to me and said that The Room was their favorite, I wouldn't care. Finally, don't just tell me to "harden up," you were being a jerk, and I called you on it.Lee Quitt said:Your definition of blatant insult is really extreme. Honestly it is really sad that you cant appreciate some of the greatest films of all time. On a side note, um, harden up son.trty00 said:You blatantly insulted someone for a differing opinion. Lol, It is sad that you cant watch any film that is black and white, and yeah it is sad that you honestly believe that dark knight rising is the greatest film of all time. It doesn't make me a jerk to call out your sadly lacking film experience.
Your going to have to accept that as we grow older people will challenge our opinions on the internet, sometimes sarcastically sometimes dismissively but it doesn't make them all jerks,
I have watched it several times but i have to say the first time you discover the secret (not spoiling it because people might have not yet seen it) you can't really get the oh my god moment where all the pieces fit together.Spitfire said:First of all, I regard anyone who tries to tell me what the best of something subjective is, as being pretentious at best, and insulting at worst.
Ignoring that, however, I still don't agree with them. Personally, I think that Citizen Kane is a way better movie than Vertigo.
Why is that?NoneOfYourBusiness said:I would have to say Fight Club, even though you can't really watch it twice
Fight Club is one of the few movies I can think of that I can discover something new in, every time I watch it. There's an amazing amount of detail in that movie, and for that, I'd say it warrants quite a few viewings.
