Cliffy B doesn't understand Mirror's Edge, and later compares demos to bad sex

Mirror's Edge actually convinced me to buy it because the demo was great. Unfortunatly however the actual game is shit.

If I remember the presentation about Mirror's edge it really was only running and jumping. Sorry... no guns there (if memory serves). But you know what... NOT ALL GAMES NEED GUNS.

guns are optional .. if i recall there's a trophy to be earned for completing the game and not firing a single bullet

While his points are retarded, I still think CliffyB is either awesome, or plotting world domination.

AND STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW MIRROR'S EDGE WAS ORIGINAL. Yes, it was. Gears was a cover-based shooter, which I haven't played many of either. And Gears DOESN'T make me never want to buy a game from that developer again. Mirror's edge showed me that originality can be a very, VERY bad thing.

Try not to necro it is against the rules.. and somewhat annoying....

He does have a point somewhere though. I haven't seen all the footage, but you don't get a good look at the enemies. If your running all the time, there better be something scary chasing you, otherwise it takes out the rush/urgent feeling I think is great in a platformer. (And no, time limit's aren't that scary)

I find time limits incredibly stressful but not scary.

I just love this thread. OMG Cliffy has an opinion that we don't agree with. What an asshole.

I sort of agree with what he said and Mirrors Edge was a waste of my money. While Gears of War wasn't my favorite game ever, at least it was worth finishing.

Also who really finds these stories interesting? . Why are we interviewing these people again? I'm not even this strapped for reading material in the toilet.

What is this guy's problem? Sure, I didn't LIKE Mirror's Edge, but I at least know that it wasn't supposed to have guns in it. AND IT DID ANYWAY.

The gun parts (aside from the bugs and shortness of the game) are what ruined Mirror's Edge IMO. It was too focused on shooting people and being able to take quite a few bullets for an unarmored target for my taste. I was hoping for a lot of running, and more avoiding the cops.

Well in the end he was sorta right about Mirrors Edge. It was average in my opinon and made me motion sick in the end. He's one of those guys who makes a great game (And I love Gears of war.)but you just want to hate him for it at the same time.

No it isn't. In the unofficial user written guide it even says that "On these forums, it is unspoken law that Thread Necroing > Repeat Threads"(found here)...

The point of Mirrors Edge WAS the Parkour involved, just like Gears of War had Guns....LOTS of guns. Clearly from his naive views he doesn't get that games don't all have to be the same. Next thing we hear from his ideas is for Nintendo to make a R rated Mario game with sex, drugs and Mario going on a bloody rampage at Woombas with a shotgun.

Both of those articles tell me that this guy is truly stupid.

...Or how about he wants to see about how the guns in the game actually contribute to the gameplay.
