I think I should have seen this coming when Codename: KND was introduced as a Cartoon Cartoon. I didn't like it, as it paled in comparison to Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls, and the king of them all, Ed, Edd n' Eddy. Hell, even I. M. Weasel was better. And even then, we still got classic Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry.

Now we have Chowder and stupid reality TV on a network that even just TEN YEARS AGO was advertised cartoons "24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 a year, forever and ever and ever UNTIL THE END OF TIME!" Even seeing Codename on the network again would make me happy...alas, all that's left are fragments of a glorious era....reruns of Courage, Billy and Mandy, and Ed, Edd n' Eddy. At least Tom and Jerry is still one of the "classics..."
It seems like CN has reached the Heart of Darkness.

CN was like the yin to my yang, man! The alpha to my omega, the checkerboard to my chess pieces, the, uh...

Leggatt to my Captain, heh heh...
I fail to recognize that last one. Care explaining?

i miss the old cartoon network you have to wake up almost at the crack of dawn just to catch old shows like tom and jerry, teen titans, and the good scooby doo movies, but that only last for so long. it is really sad i want to believe that they can come back but with the current roster it seems impossible

I basically turn to that channel solely for Adult Swim now.
Me too, and even AS has been on the decline for the last year or so.

At least they still show some decent anime on Saturday nights and they have a new season of The Venture Bros. starting in September.

Cartoon Network died when SWAT Kats was cancelled because it was deemed too "aggressive".
...Who said that!?
Up, how do you feel about an assassination mission?

And It truly is a shame that CN is heading in this direction.
I miss Toonami more and more each day.. ._.

I never did watch that channel so it's no great shakes for me; but I will mourn the passing of another unique idea in favour of what's 'mainstream'. Somebody, please, kill the idea of so-called 'reality' television soon; it's already almost too late.

Cartoon Network died when they bastardized, and subsequently canceled Toonami, and cut off Samurai Jack after 4 seasons.

I swear, whenever I see Chowder, and Total Drama Island, and remember that I was watching the channel that, not even a decade ago, introduced me to Dragon Ball Z, Gundam, The Toonami Blocks, Dexter's Lab, Cow & Chicken, and Samurai Jack...A part of my soul dies.

Joseph Conrad's "The Secret Sharer?" He also wrote a book called "Heart of Darkness," which I thought was where your name came from, but I guess not.
I only read "Heart of Darkness". I did not read "The Secret Sharer."
And yes, the name did come from the novella.

Another death of a beloved childhood memory maker. It seems like they are trying to eradicate the good older cartoons from TV. The WB (or the CW), Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, Toon Disney, Nicktoons TV, and now Cartoon Network. At least they are having the courtesy to release some of the old cartoons on DVD...

Quite sadly, it was Hannah Barbara that said so. It was their biggest hit at the moment as well.
Complete madness if you ask me.

While I do love all of the shows you guys mentioned, I think nostalgia does have something to do with us thinking the new stuff is terrible. I remember when I was younger, I was watching Ed,Edd,and Eddy, and my dad had a friend over. There conversation was like: "What is this? It's just a bunch of idiots running around! What happened to the good cartoons like the Flinstones?" and so on. Basically, this thread about 10 years ago.

(the following is all just my own opinion. Thank you)

Okay, I agree with most of what if being said. Total Drama Island, 6teen, and all that live action crap is not very good. But what's with all the hate on Chowder? It's original, has a great voice cast, a quirky animation style, and probably has one of the best running gags I've seen in any show:

Plus, John DiMaggio as Schnitzel = win. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8ryWLdsY4s

And this ep was just brilliant in my mind. I mean seriously, is it just me, or did Tara Strong seem to be suggesting that they could whore her out for cash?

(this has all been my opinion. Thank you)

Anyhow, yeah, general lack of good cartoons these days. I do like Chowder, Spongebob, The Misadventures of Flapjack and The Penguins of Madagascar on occasion, but that's about it. And there's barely any decent action/drama cartoons. I mean, I loved Gargoyles to death back when. Avatar was a good step, and Batman: The Brave and the Bold is a decent diversion. I do enjoy Spectacular Spiderman quite a bit.

EDIT: Only talking about american cartoons. I watch plenty of anime too.
