"Oh kay. That's good, I guess." Prudence looked back at Kadence quickly then pulled out her new map. "So, where do you think we should look for this cave? It would probably be somewhere in the mountains or the dense forests on the west side of the island. The names slipped my mind and this stupid map didn't label any landmarks."

Kadence leaned over to look at the map. "Wow." she said softly. She hadn't realized there was so much space...so much land in the kingdom. She stared at the map. After a bit she figured out that the strip of brown was a mountain range and then she grinned. 'So if that is mountain, and that is trees...and if those trees where really tall and those were short and that part of the mountain is really a big hill then...There!'

Kadence pointed to a spot on the map, just to the right of the mountain near a familiar section of trees. "I'm pretty sure the mystery cave won't be there. That's Laterose, my home. And I've never noticed anything special about the caves nearby." She took her finger off of the map. Garret padded over to his partner at the mention of their village. Kadence dropped her arm to her side and brushed the fingers of her right hand against the wolf's fur while pointing awkwardly with her left hand.

"Maybe farther down, on the other end of the the mountains..." Kadence continued "Or in those forests you mentioned. Either way looks like we will be going that way." She swept her arm in the direction that was left of where they stood to indicate 'left' on the map.

"Laterose, huh? Well, I guess we have to options right now. We could cross this river up here and head for Meyerill," Prudence used her finger to draw a line from Gemmal to Meyerill. Sue sat on her shoulder and tried to read the map with her. "Then, into the forest. Or, we could go all the way around the mountains towards the South. I don't really think we should try to climb them."

Sai turned to Zestia "Alright that sounds like idea, better than nothin anyway." She said standing up. Kia looked towards the bushes wishing something would rustle so she could hunt for something to eat. "Oh come on after a bird that big you can't still be hungry."

The tavern girl thought for a minute thinking about bats, trying to recall any details she has heard about them over the years. She knew what bats were, and she knew that they flew around feeding by night, in her mind, she likened them to a nocturnal bird. "Do they sleep in the same place every night like birds?" she asked, thinking about how Cora and several other crows would always return to the same tree that overhung the back tavern wall to roost. "Maybe we can wait until night time is almost over and follow the bats back to their cave?" She suggested, it seemed to her like a better idea than wandering around blindly.

As Lev thought about the pros and cons of traveling with more people he noticed one of the women trip and fall over. He leaned a little to the side in an attempt to spot her through the groups of people, but ended up only getting a glance of her lying on the ground.
He frowned slightly as he started walking over, apparently one of them could be a klutz, but it could also have been nothing but an unfortunate accident, only time would tell he supposed.

He made his way over to where he saw the second woman still standing (and where the first one was still on the ground, he thought), careful not to bump into too many people on the way. And when he finally began to close in on them he saw that she had gotten back on her feet from her little mishap and that they were talking leaned over a piece of parchment or paper.

"Well, I guess we have two options right now. We could cross this river up here and head for Meyerill, then, into the forest. Or, we could go all the way around the mountains towards the South. I don't really think we should try to climb them." He heard the slightly taller blond woman say as he was closing in on them, he also looked down at the other woman's legs out of habit, and spotted her putting more weight on her left foot, but it hardly indicated anything other than a bruise or a sprain.

Deciding that he should probably start off the conversation politely, Lev straightened up his back and made his presence known to the two of them.

"Excuse me, I overheard that the two of you might be going to Meyerill? Me and an acquaintance are heading in that direction, and wondered if you'd like to accompany us?" He asked them.

Kadence stood up straight and turned carefully toward the stranger who had spoken. She recognized him as the one she'd seen in the crowd before. Garret took a few steps forward and sat down just slightly in front of his partner so that he too was facing the newcomers. Kadence looked down at the wolf but he didn't feel angry and she didn't get any indications of danger from him. If he were human, he'd be making a statement about...oh. 'Protective.', she deduced quickly. She looked up at the man.

She smiled politely and glanced over at Pru before replying. "We appreciate the offer, and that sounds like a good idea." Kadence looked over at Pru and tilted her head slightly. She hoped that the girl wouldn't mind an expansion of the group. Having more people together would be useful and the man had already helped them once before.

Prudence glanced back with a little less excitement and a little more fear. She was still quite awkward around Kadence, although she tried her best not to show it, and two strangers didn't sound like any fun, especially since one was a man. Her disposition transferred to Sue as well, and the bird looked sideways at the two new faces.

"I... guess it's... fine." Pru failed miserably at hiding her uncomfort.

Kadence frowned slightly. 'Well that was quite unconvincing'. she thought. She held up a hand to the newcomers in a 'please wait' gesture. "Could you excuse us for a moment?" she asked, polite smile back in place. She waited a second before moving. Garret remained seated where he was as Kadence carefully walked a few feet away and gestured to Pru to join her. As she waited for Pru Kadence wondered what her Companion sensed that she did not.

Lev nodded to the auburn haired woman as she and her friend walked away, it was only natural that the two of them might not share the same opinion about traveling with others, and especially considering how shady he looked with his wounds, stubble, and weathered, but pale, skin.

He looked around a bit out of boredom as he waited, quickly glancing up at the sun and loosening the neck of his shirt again, before noticing that the wolf from before was still sitting in front of him. He looked down at the black wolf, thinking to himself that it was an odd coloration, having only seen the gray and white-ish wolves of the north before. But everything was possible, and companion animals tended to have more prominently unique features, he wasn't entirely sure why though.

'... On the subject of companions, where did Tatiana go off to? Lev found himself thinking as he looked down the road ahead. but, seeing no orange and black striped feline in sight, he just shrugged.
'Ah well... She'll find her way back when she's less grumpy.'

"I don't know," Pru said when she was alone with Kadence. "It's just that I don't like meeting new people. I'm sure they're very nice, but..." She looked down at the ground for a few seconds. "...It's fine, really. I'll be okay."

"Oh...sorry" Kadence replied. Even though Pru said she was okay Kadence felt that she needed to explain. "That guy is the one who recommended we stop by the apothecary earlier..." she paused. "...which may have been an insult. I couldn't tell. But I think he'd be a good person to travel with. He could be helpful..." she trailed off. The man reminded her a little of the guards at Selven, older men who didn't say much but knew how to do their job well. As she glanced back at the newcomers she noticed and wondered about the man's hand but recognized that it was probably not something she should ask about.

As her gaze traveled from the man to the woman behind him it occurred to Kadence that the coat held by the woman looked like it belonged in much colder weather then they were having now. Must not be from around here. she thought. She looked back at Pru, and had to lean her head up just a bit.

"Well, if you have a problem with them...just let me know. We don't have to travel with them." Kadence was willing to travel without the two others if it made the trip unbearable for Pru however she wasn't going to leave the girl completely alone. Kadence turned and prepared to walk back to her Companion but she paused briefly to see if Pru had anything else to say.

"It... will be alright. Maybe, I just need to talk to them, and I'll be a little more comfortable. It's the smart thing to do, having more people around." Sue flew down to Pru's finger and she petted her. "You don't have to worry about me. I just needed to get out of the city. If you want to leave me now, I don't care."

"No." Kadence said quickly. She hissed softly as she leaned on the wrong leg to turn and face Pru. "I don't want you to leave. Being out here alone. There's..." she paused to gesture vaguely, "...it's not safe to travel alone." She paused again. "Let's talk to these people."

Garret had turned when he sensed his partner's pain and was now padding toward them slowly. Hoping that Pru would follow, Kadence began walking and met her Companion halfway to the newcomers. The wolf slowly circled his partner. When his inspection was through Kadence walked the remaining distance to the two people patiently waiting for them. Garret sat down in his previous spot.

Prudence gently let Sue off her finger and the bird flew back up to her shoulder. She awkwardly rubbed her arm, while walking a few seconds behind Kadence. Does that mean she actually likes me? She doesn't want me to go out alone or get hurt, so I guess that must means she doesn't hate me. Huh. Pru stopped and stood a few feet behind her friend. She waved at the two new people like a shy school child.

"Sorry to keep you waiting...sir" Kadence became aware that they didn't know anyone's name yet. 'We should probably fix that' she thought.

"I'm sorry I didn't catch your name...My name is Kadence; this is Garret." Kadence gestured to the wolf seated beside of her. He looked up as she spoke. Kadence then gestured to Pru, "And this is my friend..." she hesitated as she realized that the girl might not want these two to know exactly who she was.

"Oh um, I'm, Pru," she said quietly. Sue gave a couple of chirps. "Oh, and this is my companion Sue." The bird looked satisfied, and Prudence curtsied. "It's a pleasure to meet you two."

"Yeah, the name's Lev Markov, and I usually have the pleasure of walking around with a temperamental 400 pound feline called Tatiana, but she's off on her own right now. [sub]Probably for the best too...[/sub]" Lev told the two of them as he leaned slightly on his spear and glanced down at Kadence's left foot, but quickly averted his gaze again. "And this here is Viktorya Maximovna Gorbacheva, and her companion Ursa Major." He added as Viktorya and Ursa came up next to him.

"I'm slightly glad you took the advice, by the way. Shows that you might have thought this out better than the average person."

"Hmm. That could work." Zestia said to the tavern girl. She took her backpack off and started searching in it. After a few moments, she pulled out a map.
"This should help us on our journey." she said and unfolded the map. It wasn't very big, but big enough it was. She looked over the map and then around her.

"According to the map, we should be able to go west to the next town, called Meyerill. On the way there, we could look for some caves."

"Well sound like we have a plan. And when we get to Meyerill, we can see about getting you some equipment." Sai said turning to the tavern girl. "Also I've been thinking on your name. How about Avi?" She asked, lugging her pack on to her her shoulder.
