You know, the game also has Cave Johnson firing a man in a wheelchair beacause, and I quote, "Ramps are expensive". So either he's making too big a deal out of this clearly satyrical game, or he's being a hypocrit for not touching on any other 'controvertial' quotes.

i understand where he is coming from, however, i also think he needs to have a better sense of humor of things. he has every right to skip it, but causing a ruckus about it is ridiculous.

i also thought it was hilarious when the news lady said "i contacted SONY which DISTRIBUTES the game but they passed it to valve" and then they act all disappointed when a company with no ties minus the fact that it is on thier console "passed the buck"

Rated E doesn't mean it's a kids game, it means that it would be appropriate for children

Also, why are they convinced the game is Educational?

It was my understanding that those comments in the game were specifically designed to make GLaDOS come across as petty and horrible. Yes, I can see how having the subject come up so suddenly in ones house can be jarring, especially if the parent hasn't had any kind of talks with their child about it (which is most definitely the parent's fault, not the game's), but seriously? THIS is offensive? Okay, so I guess tomorrow, I could call up a news station and tell them about how I was offended by Voldemort's hatred of muggles in Harry Potter, because I'm a muggle and I wasn't prepared to be confronted by that fact by the antagonist in a piece of fiction... Or I could just act like an intelligent human being and realize that antagonists are generally meant to express views opposite of those that the creator of that work holds, but intelligence is for silly people and the murderous, fat, orphan-hating, rapists that obviously make up the gaming community, so we can't have that.

When I was playing Portal 2 GLaDOS called me stupid. As a freaking idiot this offended me greatly.

Maby I should go on this news show and cry about the swedish chef in the muppets show.
I think he gives a false image of the swedish people being plush dolls that talk nonsens

Wow, the level of idiocy in this thread is extraordinary. This 10 year old kid is playing the game with her adoptive father and she hears something like that, it's obviously pretty horrible. She's a kid, a kid who hasn't come to grips with the fact she'll probably never know her real parents, she's 10, obviously she doesn't understand the games dark sense of humor. Although she says she didn't hear it, I doubt that. She probably doesn't want to upset her parents any more.

Airing this on the news wasn't the best route in my opinion, a letter to valve would have been my choice, either way, for a young adopted child the jokes are very hurtful. I don't think the jokes shouldn't have been in the game or that it should have had higher rating, but it doesn't change the fact that it's insensitive (Just like most of you are being).

I have a BMI of 41, I'm in a wheelchair, I'm adopted, I'm allergic to peanuts, I have been told I have a "minor case of serious brain damage", I suffer from moon rock poisoning, and the laws of physics no longer apply to me. I'm thinking of suing Amazon for selling me this horrible mean game! Who's with me?

I actually want test this out. I want to adopt a kid, make them play Portal 2 and see if they are even offended. Girl in the video looked like she didn't even care. Its also funny because they let her continue playing the game even after the first adoption joke.

I was fine with it up until 1:06 where the reporter calls it a "popular kid's videogame".

This guy's been making a mountain out of this molehill for a while.

It's just silly though. The player isn't told that. The characters are told that. You aren't you when you play the game, you're Chell. You step into her role. The other characters talk to you and refer to you as if you were a grown woman, because that's your role in the game.

And anyway, if you were offended by that... as many people care to mention, wasn't the comment redacted later anyway (by GLaDOS)?
How the hell is this a kids game? it has gun turrets, does have violence and even in the first portal there were similar taunts from gladios, how the hell, when the hell did this become a kids game?!
...

Are you building/bouncing off what I said, or did you severely misread me?

If the former: you probably should have been clearer about that.

If the latter: You do realize I said "I was fine with it until she called it a kid's game"? Implying that when the reporter branded Portal 2 a "kid's game", the report lost whatever case or credibility it had, because it was ill-researched and ill-founded?

Seriously... Maybe you should take a reading comprehension class or something.
I was adding to your first reply, backing your responce.Yes i should have said that sorry.
Peace

"Popular kids game."
Validity ended.
(Ignoring the fact that it was ended when a news show talked about video games)

Also old news. But it still is annoying.

Edit: Incase you dont understand, the Portal games seem more suited to older people. Rated E doesnt mean kids game. It just means no boobs or gore.
Please do some checking of facts BEFORE publishing.
If you find your data was incorrect, it should be law to revoke your statement with the same level of rabidness that you proclaimed it.
EDIT: I meant the news guys, you're fine.
