No. Your not suprising anyone.FlameUnquenchable said:Is Twilight critically acclaimed? I thought it was just popular to massive amounts of rabid preteen and mid teen girls. I can't believe anyone outside that demographic would even watch it.
It was almost universally panned. Again, not so unusual. Though I would be interested if someone hated the much approved original. Not sure if it was critically acclaimed or not, but I hated the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still. The original was pretty good, the remake was a preachy diatribe on why man is 'evil' and had no redeeming qualities to speak of. Plus there were some large continuity issues that I hated.
That book annoyed the hell out of me. Perhaps I had gotten used to the concept of an unreliable narrator from many of the books subsequently released by authors influenced by Salinger's character. Perhaps I just didn't place much weight on a narrator being unreliable. Either way, I found him really irritating, to the point where I just couldn't tolerate reading of his antics.Julianking93 said:What the fuck is so great about Catcher in the Rye??
Have you seen Infernal Affairs? That was the original Hong Kong movie, before it was remade as The Departed. I think the original is better, though I don't see any point in recommending it to you - you already know exactly how the story goes from the remake, so there will be no suprises.Furburt said:The Departed, most probably.
I mean, I like crime dramas, I like Martin Scorsese's films (Well, his early stuff), and I liked Infernal Affairs. But the Departed came off as so utterly full of itself. I didn't enjoy it at all, yet everyone, I mean everyone, I've ever talked to about it except for my dad (who watched it with me) thinks it's a masterpiece.
On that note, Mad Men and The Wire.
Unreliable narrators are fucking superb when used for psychological and horror purposes, but really grate when it's the character's egotism, I find.maninahat said:That book annoyed the hell out of me. Remember the scene where Wall-E is riding that cart with Eve, and they enter a lobby area where that big receptionist robot is hanging from the ceiling? Wall-E waves to it, then it waves back, and when he passes it again later the thing waves at him again. It was a really cute moment.starfox444 said:What is this I don't even. I love all the other games Valve have done, and I love Steam. Half-Life is my favorite series! I refuse to be a fanboy though, and although I did give L4D a fair shot it just never grew on me. Maybe I'll try it again sometime and see if it can change my mind.dodo1331 said:Oh. Okay then.. Wow. You're one of the few people I've ever seen that doesn't like L4D on the PC. Do you like the other Valve games or do you only dislike Left 4 Dead?
