Anybody notice how fast that one cop was? Like there was a hail of bullets there and like 0 seconds later he's right up in there.

What did he even shoot her with? Mind control bullets?

What do you want me to say? The news snippet is barely audible, the trailer makes no damn sense and the notion that I'm supposed to go away and do research after watching an advert is ludicrous. You are defending an advert that fails on every conceivable level to perform the functions expected of an advert and on top of that it has a truly disturbing ending shot.
It really isn't that hard to follow and by 'research' they mean reading three paragraphs of a description on the video, which isn't even necessary to understand it. The trailer doesn't even end on that shot, did you close out the second the logo came up? It then shows her with the police officer listening to the song, now a part of the Psycho Squad (only thing I had to 'research' to get) that's why the song fits so well, she joined them and is taking "PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY" because "underneath my skin there is a violence it's got a gun it's hands" (read: she went psycho) The trailer makes perfect sense and is easily one of the better ones I've seen, shame you didn't understand it.

Edit: Feel the need to note that I've never heard of Cyberpunk 2077 (or whatever the number is for the source material) before this and if I recall one of your posts correctly (I think it was yours) I've seen less Cyberpunk stuff than you, so it's not exactly required to get the trailer.

This conversation confuses me because when I see someone covered in blood with blades coming out of their arms, surrounded by corpses and police I automatically assume that they went on a rampage.

Maybe it's just because I grew up watching Ghost in the Shell

I only read a few pages, so these points might have been covered, but I'll feel a lot better if I get these off my chest:

1. For all those who think the woman's breasts are unrealistic, this is a CG model based on a real human woman. These are what real (attractive) human breasts look like. Get over it. (This reminds me of people criticizing new Lara Croft's British accent.... WHO IS PLAYED BY A BLOODY BRITISH WOMAN... christ)

2. She is not being attacked for being a slut/hooker/whatever, she is being attacked because she went crazy and killed a bunch of people.

3. Regarding her outfight, and the statements that it is pointless and not representative of typical garb, visit an actual nightclub right now. You will retract your statement.

4. The blades are not impractical, they are designed in such a way to fold out of the arm, so that they remain concealed most of the time.

5. There is a difference between an artful representation of metaphorical avatars of different factions in a potential future society and a gorn inciting naked torso.

I feel a little better now.

nope. this goes over just "sex appeal" when you start openly fondling your huge tits in a close up.

this does more than just try to sell a review with sex appeal.

THIS shows how the perception about gamers IS around the gaming world and the people who make products for gamers / game reviewers/ game suppliers.

and thats what is wrong with it.

people still percieve people who play videogames as 11 years old douchenozzles who just care and can bring a minimum of attention to anything when its about " TITS OR GTFO!!!!!!".
Uhh yes. I'm not denying there's a problem with the video and the perception of gamers. If it's not sex appeal via soft core porn, what would you label it as?

Probably a microwaver. It's a close range EMP type weapon designed to take out cybernetics. Then remove the worst of the implants and give her a few weeks/months of braindance and/or therapy to make sure she does what she's told then off she goes onto C-SWAT.

Also just thought, it could well be a man's brain in there.

Oh great, now the transgender community is going to be all over this.
You're right...I meant trans-woman's brain. There, everyone should be happy now.

Although it could be a man who just got a female borg body 'cause they were out of male models and he just couldn't wait, or maybe it was part of a disguise for a covert op, or maybe he's a wanted criminal and thought he could evade detection by getting a woman's body. So there, transgender community, that's actually what I meant, you can stop your PC witch hunt now, I've done nothing, NOTHING, you hear me? Call off your attack dogs you vicious hellions.

I don't whether I laughed so hard cause that was funny, or the fact that you instantly picked up on the joke that I was making (was worried someone would mistake it for bigotry). Either way, good going my friend.

I found this piece on how the business and culture interact and perpetuate the really ugly side of videogames. I think it's worth a read and worth discussing.

I've read some crazy inane crap in my time, and while this article is up there treading bullshit with the best of them, it just doesn't have that je ne sais quoi that pushes the crazy meter all the way up to completely batshit insane.

Let me help you with that.

This, this is only the beginning of the video game industry's plan for outright WORLD DOMINATION!

Their plan is raise a veritable army of disillusioned predominately white men from the European and North American video game markets and secretly train them to loathe and despise women and homosexuals, which will channel their repressed sexual desires into the last remaining outlet that will be available to them.

Throbbing hot gun love.

But the madness doesn't stop there. No, my friend. It has just begun because as part of a global effort Japan will raise it's own army, and they will be armed with the most advanced weaponised sex toys that mankind has ever devised.

And combined these armies will combine and reap a grim harvest of murder, rape and processed semi-organic matter that closely resembles food. Until the skies will weep mountain dew and entire cities will be buried under that orange shit you get on your fingers when you eat Cheetos.

Considering I haven't talked about Anita since the outrage other than a dissent of her outlook on games, I'd think you would be the one with the obsession or buy into her argument that there is some group dedicated to be against her.
Explain, since you were the one who brought her up. You know, here:

I'm sorry but Anita, this "writer"(not even that great of an article) and many people who think they are on some crusade to "improve" games by essentially removing all content that is imaginative and more importantly human is what is really making this hobby extremely unenjoyable and more importantly stagnant and boring.
This is the reason you were questioned. Instead of making irrelevant accusations, perhaps you could address the fact that you DID bring her up in this context. You specifically, not the nebulous "group" you have accused me of believing in.

Maybe we should just go back to having the Nazis be the bad guys. It was easy then.

Or zombies, BUT THEY HAVE TO BE WHITE!

N'Gai Croal didn't actually have a general problem with zombies being black in Resi 5, just a few shots he thought were inadvertently inappropriate. But everyone pounced on his comments and took it as proof the game was racist for suggesting black people might be victim to the same pathogen that universally afflicted everyone else, after a series spanning 15 years of every other sort of group possible.

"Racism! RACISM!!! Wow, someone give me a Pulitzer for noticing this terrible injustice"

Again, very little of this is about people actually having their gaming experience ruined by the content, this is about professional complainers.

And people who are sensitive to violence playing a violent video game. Why are you playing a violent video game? If you have post traumatic stress disorder, every game shouldn't become non-violent. If you have a peanut allergy, peanuts don't have to be banned. I believe such things should be labelled but not excluded from people who can be exposed to such things without problem.

People with peanut allergies cannot complain to me about eating peanuts when I'm not even eating them anywhere near them.

Now you're tapping into the real problem of it; the trailer left way way WAY too much to question and gave nothing in terms of context.
When was it the rule that video game trailers always had context for violence against men?

Look at this promotional image for Resident Evil 4:

I can't find a single person on the whole internet who had any problem with this when it came out.

No context. No explanation. Just a man getting ACTIVELY SAWN IN HALF WITH A CHAINSAW!

If the problem was violence, everyone has been awfully quiet about it till now. Or does it just not matter when men are being slaughtered? Most victims of violent crime are males.

Sorry, but I've never ever heard of that website, I don't know of that video existing until someone posted a video complaining about me (I am a gamer) watching it.

How can it possibly represent all gamers.

Even if a small proportion of gamers watched it and liked it, so what?

You know what ELSE exists? PORNOGRAPHY! No one is freaking out - any more - about pornography existing.

And women are human as well, they have their boy bands, Justin Timberlake flashing his abs, Twilight, 50 Shades of Grey. If women had such a problem with men indulging in some sexual pandering they wouldn't indulge in it themselves.
