Before you try to refute my post, I live in Puerto Rico, im pre med with around a year and a half left till med school. And im an OR Tech, so im in a hospital enviroment pretty much everyday.

I am curious as to weather or not you're right about the fire spewing penis though, I think that would be a bit immature, however if it is representing some kind of STI like Chlamydia or clamidia (depending on your region) it might add a lot to the boss (Like if using the attack causes him a great deal of pain)

So yeah, I think they're going a bit over the top. They could have cleverly conceived a sexual theme throughout the level's decoration, without sticking a penis in, but I guess Visceral has given up on subtelty.

I'm old enough and mature enough that I don't get off over boobs, if I want to see a pair I'll look up some porn or strip down my girlfriend, if I see boobs in a game I'm happy to accept it's artistic and to be expected, I would be outraged if I didn't see a bare breasted demon with the clothes burnt from it's body... Calling it a publicity stunt is like calling torn clothes on a zombie a publicity stunt, this shit is to be expected people and if they've done it right all the dangly bits hanging everywhere should be making you cringe and contribute to creating an amazing atmosphere...

Apparently, killing small demon babies is not enough for the creators of the new game: Dante's Inferno. In the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB)'s new report, they write that there is going to be some (if not a lot) of nudity in the game.
They can report that there is going to be a lot of female monsters with bare breasts, some with tentacles, (hentai much?) and some on paintings and such.
BUT! As if that wasn't enough, there's going to be:
A boss with a big dick that he's going to swing around while you fight him.
Is it just me, or does that sound hilarious?
Or are they trying too hard?

During one sequence, a distraught demon-like creature seizes Dante's right hand and slowly guides it across her bare chest; during another, "shade minions" in high heels moan lustfully-in the Lust level-as tentacles protrude from their stomachs, their lower regions. As for the nudity: a tapestry-style (hand-drawn) image of a topless woman embracing a man; the same art-style depicting a slave woman-breasts exposed-lying on the floor with the guilt-ridden; a naked woman on a stone slab levitating in the air (only her breasts are fully defined); the aforementioned topless Cleopatra; and a bluish devil/demon in boss-battle mode-its penis visible during the flying and fire-spewing, the standing around (there are equivalent physics applied to female/male body parts).
I've searched the forums, and I couldn't find anywhere this has been posted before.
Remember when 90% of art depicted nudity. People did it because it created atmosphere, it was logical and most of all artistic and beautiful.
They didn't do it to draw the attention of the media or to get their jollies off. Artists like that still exist but if they dare draw a bare breast the floodgates open and in comes the criticism... When will people learn.

Well, at least they aren't too familiar with this poem beyond the fact that the protagonist is named 'Dante' and it takes place in hell. Beyond that, they crapped all over the source material. .
Personally, I can't wait until they make "The Odyssey" and Odysseus is a demigod that uses a huge sword to smash his way through Troy, Scilla, Charybdis, and anything else stupid enough to get in his way.
OK I get the whole lust thing but why a Giant Penis Monster? Think about it the majority of gamers are male and won't want to see of fight a Giant Penis Monster. On a side note, why the hell is Lust considered a Sin anyway isn't it natural for a species to want to reproduce off-topic I know but just an observation.

I have to admit, it's kinda nice to finally have a game where you can see male genetalia... everywhere else, it sounds like seeing a penis is akin to dousing your face in 12M hydrochloric acid, then trying to get it off with grease that will then be set on fire! C'mon, people, you see boobs in everyday culture now, even in America (considering how scantly clad so many models and such are today, it's practically a pinup on every advertisement), so why the hell is it so taboo for a guy to whip his out, if a lady can have her pair hanging loose?
I'm proud of this game for taking it a step further and giving an accurate portrayal of what Hell is like, according to the Divine Comedy (well, if not the whole journey bit, at least it gets the gist of the layers correct). Seriously, suck it up and realize that boobs and cock do exist and you can suck it up to see them once in a while, no matter how homophobic you are.

It was sort of my springboard into the conversation, the rest of what I typed was targeted at the thread as a whole and what other people said, the first line was the only thing really targeted as you. Well actually it is by no means nice to see a penis flying towards my face and I will never celebrate a game for showing penis or boobs. In fact it's down right awkward to see penises as a guy and does draw out the homophobia and awkwardness of most people including myself.
But you know what it's not about showing a penis, it's about setting the scene, calling up those emotions, getting a response out of you, the gamer and that I will celebrate. It's about creating a powerful and immersive atmosphere and with the game being set in hell if somebody were to ask me if I felt it necessary to show genitalia my answer would be "yes". The game is set in hell and the atmosphere should reflect that, to fall short of this is a failure as a game designer.
