The video was pretty inflammatory about the whole "Console players won't appreciate it." They (and I) do, that doesn't mean that I don't want to play it on PC either though. It'd be GREAT to play it at full 1080 instead of 720, and with better performance across the board. I won't mind AT ALL using a 360 controller. I recognize that sometimes some games just to better with them.

As somebody that owns it on XBox, I'm signing it. Just for the faint, distant chance of mods.

To be honest the console "fanboys" here are just as bad as the PC "elitists" they're railing against. We aren't here to start a flame war over stupid biases and idiotic vendettas against people we don't know because they have a slightly different opinion. It's all very hypocritical and pointless. :|

Now that the slightly ranty bit of my mind has been appeased for the day, onward. I personally think this is a good idea (both from a business perspective and I've been sad that neither of them were on PC) and will be signing, because a good game should be on as many platforms as possible.

hahah i think its great that the elitist pc crowd miss out on awesome games like this.

Dark Souls is my personal game of the year.

i own a PC, and an Xbox, but i dont feel the need to tell anyone and everyone why one is superior than the other.

get off your high horse and buy a console :)
But then you have people like me who get put in an "either/or" type situation. It's either a gaming PC or consoles (only have a Wii for Zelda and surrogates SNES because I traded in an arseload of stuff... >.>). I chose PC because I prefer it as a platform and I prefer Digital Distribution, quarterly Steam sales, and the occasional Indie gem like Terraria or Bastion over ludicrously expensive $60 games and the inability to mod games or upgrade my system.

Or there are just other people who already have a gaming rig but don't feel like buying a console just for one or two games.

I do think that the game should come to PC (and the 360 and the WiiU), because giving more people the chance to play a good game is always a good thing.

And WOW that guy is a total fucking twat. Which is a shame, because in his actual business analysis made a ton of sense. That is, whenever he wasn't spouting the usual PC Gamer cry of "Look at the size of my penis PC!" that seems to be hard-wired into every PC Gamer alive.
It already is on 360.

Also: "They would apperciate it more..?"

@Video
Yeah, it's not like Demon's Souls didn't become a cult classic and Dark Souls sold even more because of it. Yup, we console games don't apperciate it at ALL.

Mods would completely wreck a game like Dark Souls. The way that it works just doesn't support mods. Imagine people modding in ultimate weapons then going into PVP.

Honestly, I couldn;t care less if it was on PC, but the game just works better with a controller. I know you can plug a controller into a PC, but not everyone will be happy that it will be the only real way to play it. Mouse and Keyboard for Dark Souls... Ew... That just isn't a good mix at all. Espicially since PC gamers would (They really would) about not having things like hotkeys and such.

Also I like TB's videos but he came off not only has a huge PC elitist (which imo are the worst) and a bit of a prick.

I signed it, I'd pick this one up for $20 or so if it were on steam. This is why I don't complain about console ports*, because it means more games available for me to play.

*If it's a really shitty port, like from Ubisoft, then obviously that sucks, I'm just saying a console-oriented Skyrim is better than no Skyrim at all, etc.

I wouldn't mind playing SOMETHING like Dark Souls on PC, but Dark Souls itself? Nah, if only because while gorgeous by console standards, the game is a little grainy and blocky at times. Seeing how ports of Japanese console games have been pretty iffy thus far, I wouldn't really hold a lot of hope for a straight port of DS on the mouse and keyboard.

Besides, Diablo III's right around the corner! If that doesn't appeal to you, then wait it out. I'm sure someone will have listened and thought to design something for PC that's analogous to Dark Souls.

TotalBiscuit is awesome. Same spirit as RPS, but in video form.

I am also quite pleased by the state of the petition. The sooner this thing comes to the PC (and the sooner I can trade back my PS3 copy of it) the better.

On the subject of the experience being wrong for PC: Keep in mind that PC gamers play Binding of Isaac, Nethack (which I adore), Dungeon Defenders, etc. Dark Souls is pretty much the epitome of a PC-fit experience, and might well go a good ways towards convincing the reticent publishers that there's something to be said for the PC as a market.

Therefore, I really hope this has a positive effect!

I kind of made a point of this earlier as am also in an either/or situation. When an awesome-looking PC exclusive comes out I can either spend $500-800 to build a gaming rig to play it, OR use that money to pay medical bills and insurance and just be happy with my console I bought second-hand.

See, I find it hard to sympathize with the whole "I just want to enjoy it too!" thing when I've been on the other side of that deal wanting a port of a PC game only to have PC players turn up their nose and say "Dude, just build a PC."

Can't always get what you want you know. I learned that a long time ago. Why is it so hard for other people to learn that?

PS. Seriously, when was the last time a video game petition ever really done anything? Remember the 37,000 member boycott over L4D2?

'Appreciate it more'?

Because it's not like the success of Demon's Souls, a PS3 exclusive, paved the way towards Dark Souls actually getting made and getting a multi-platform release, proving that dirty console peasants actually appreciate this type of game.

I want as many people to enjoy this game as possible, but that kind of condecension really rubs me the wrong way.

You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Dungeon Defenders is also on Ps3, xbox, and hell even ipod. :p (Actually came out on ipod a while before any other version.)

It's even coming out on Vita.

Always nice to get a perspective from the other side, and I apologize if my post seemed somewhat condescending...it kinda does now that I read it again. I also find the "dude, just build a PC" people annoying since when you don't have much disposable income, building a semi-decent (a good GPU and a kinda OK i3 CPU) gaming rig is a pain in the arse...

P.S. The petition is mostly just a morale tool for a cause, but there's still the thread over on their forums that the Devs and whatnot are actually watching. Also always nice to see other people discussing in a civil manner. :)

Any decent argument he made was nullified by his "Only PC gamers can truly appreciate a game like this" argument. What a twat.

You know, there are a lot of games that are PC-exclusive that I want to play. Like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for instance. But it'll never get a console port (Even though GDC said they were going to way back in '07) so if I want to play it I need to save up $500-800 and build a computer that can run it.

You want to play Dark Souls? The swallow your "pride" and go buy a $200 console like the rest of us.
I have a PS3 downstairs. Probably has about 9 or so months of dust on it. Why? I don't play it. Why buy a console to play ONE GAME? Besides, I think that Demon's Souls is better (Ooooh, look at me, I like the first game in the series!) and my opinion is the same as it was with Demon's Souls: Controls would be a *****, but if they can get past that, the port could be good.

Also, Steam is not on PS3. I don't care what kind of game DRM there is, YOU name an IM device on PS3 please. Name a place to get 50% off games. Name a way to conveniently minimize your game and look up walkthroughs, or even check the Escapist! I'm not saying PC gaming is better, I'm saying it's more convenient. If my PS3 had Steam, Sanctum, Magicka, etc. then I'd play it more. But it doesn't. Oh well.

EDIT: Oh yeah. And people complain that you should go out and buy a console? At least on PC, if one little bit of content is withheld, the game still comes out unlike Xbox http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/112562-Microsoft-Doesnt-Want-Sonys-Sloppy-Seconds.

Now I'm gonna go ahead and wait for people to say "They just want the best quality for us Xbox gamers!" Yeah? Then care to explain why Kratos shipped on PS3 Mortal Kombat and not Xbox 360? "Because most Xbox gamers wouldn't know who that was!" Indeed, but I've never played a Halo game and I know who Master Chief is. I've never played Gears of War, but I've heard of Marcus Fenix. Can I tell their life stories? No. Do I need to? No. I will not deny that some games work better on certain systems, but if we don't try something, how can we know if it's broken or not?

If content is restricted on PC, people can find a way around it, or they will make the content themselves. Children cannot be killed in Skyrim, but there is obviously a mod that fixes that.

No. Just no.

You do not know the amount of no that's going through my mind.

Just. No.
Please state a reason as to why? all the information i gain from your post is (purely educated guess on your thoughts right now) 'I DON'T WANT THE PC ELITISTS TO THROW SOMETHING ELSE AT MY FACE!'.
And you'd be right. I'm both a console and PC gamer, but I absolutely can't stand PC elitists, and I can't imagine wanting to play this with any of them.

He's a giant PC elitist like all the time, but he does have some very good points.
I agree. But seriously, what the fuck was that "I'd like to see it be on PC where it can truly be appreciated!" shit? Over 1.5 million copies sold in under a month! That's a fucking lot of copies, y'know?
As a primarily PC gamer, I got it on console but would have much preferred a PC version. I'm sure plenty of people feel the same way. PC gamers actually ZOMG own consoles too. I just don't particularly have any love for mine anymore.

When I can run games on max graphics in true HD, why would I want to buy an inferior copy that costs the same/more? (Also running a game like that cost me as much as it would to buy a console and an average size, 720P HDTV. Before someone comes in and says "OH GOSH A GAMING PC COSTS TOO MUCH MONEES!" someone always does.)

You want your console to have a hard drive? Hope you didn't buy a 360, that's another $120 for a decent sized drive. If you bought a PS3 and want a decent hard drive without having to install one, hope you don't mind shelling out $300.

Oh and if you want HD, better be prepared to shell out at least $400 if you want a mid size 720p TV.

So already you've exceeded how much it costed me to build my PC and get a monitor and the OS legally.

Golly gee gosh, it's almost like the argument that PC gaming is far more expensive is...ignorant and misinformed or something! Gasp!

*signs on the dotted line* doubt it will help but fuck it :D Demon's Souls was great and i had to get rid of my PS3, GIMMEH!!!

Not a good idea.
Dark Souls could never be better enough than the console versions to please the superior PC gamers. It was conceived with the crappy outdated shitty consoles in mind, therefore it is worthless as enjoyment, tech validation and as a source of superiority.

Sorry guys, hardware superiority and pathetic pride have a price. :(
yeah, you can keep your empty soulless pride over false superiority.

more good games for all platforms, end of story

Console accessories are just as crappy as the consoles themselves. If you want to play PC, use a keyboard and mouse, otherwise it's pointless.
cept, some games are, and will always be better with a controller :) it is an unavoidable fact.
