I thought the reason the first 2 dead rising games looked childish was because they were on the Wii, and the WII didnt support hardcore violent games like the 360, PS3 and PC. The 3rd one looks amazing though.

...wuh?
The first one was on 360 exclusively for a good few years, then a watered down version got released on Wii. 2 and Off the Record were 360, PS3 and PC titles, and I'm pretty sure the DLC for 2 was console exclusive.

Also there are some violent titles on the Wii. It doesn't just not support "violence" as a hardware limit or something.

Capcom has already admitted that they are TRYING to appeal to the CoD audience, which is so stupid I can't even believe it, but it's true. http://www.destructoid.com/dead-rising-3-designed-to-appeal-to-call-of-duty-fans-256136.phtml

I am COD fan, as well as a Dead Rising fan, so its a win-win no matter how I look at it!!!...

That begin said... I hope they dont take it TOO far...

I really don't know, the only reason I came up with that conclusion was from Mortal Kombat 1. SNES didn't support blood or show any of the cool fatalities.

Any series that sees success the current AAA industry will try and change into the same type of game they think has wide appeal and can sell 10 million copies. That means open world, "gritty" and "realistic", serious, and drab.

Dead Rising fans prepare to have your favorite series ruined.

Disagree. Realistic = Challenge. Most people want their skills increased. How do you think they find Drone Fliers.

There are so many zombie games that I really find it hard to give a damn whether one or another is any good. They're all generic and bland, no matter what twists they care to put in them. Even games which aren't zombie games, get zombies in them, like Saints Row 3, CoD, Borderlands and so on.

Why no vampire games? I know we have Dark coming out, but that's one game. What about werewolves? Seriously? Why always with the fu***ng zombies? What about ghosts, mummys, skeletons? Imps and demons? There are so many undead and horrific creatures out there why are there 100x as many zombie games as any other kind, excepting MMSs?

Something original please.

As if Vampires, werewolves, ghosts, mummys, skeletons Imps and demos were original...

I think it's understandable that everybody is nuts in DR1, if you go by the situation they're in. This is the first zombie outbreak that anyone has actually survived, the psychos deal with it by well, going nuts and killing people in various ways, the survivors deal with it by freaking out and panicking all the time, and Frank deals with it by throwing out corny one liners and sarcastic quips.

Chuck, on the other hand, is the Only Sane Man thanks to starring in that reality show I can't remember the name of right now is used to dealing with zombies all the time, as well as having his daughter around to keep him grounded makes him one of the few people who CAN stay sane in that kind of situation.

As for Case West and OTR, one could argue that with the former Frank is more used to zombies by then and thus acts more serious about it, and in the latter he reverts back to form, but I think the latter is just the developers pandering to the fans that liked the old Frank more.
Doesn't Chuck Greene become a psychopath as well though? I thought that was a superb touch to the spin-off.

Might want to actually, you know, play the fecking game before you make any judgments. It is highly like it might not be what you are expecting...

And seriously, the series has always been wacky? Maybe in the gameplay, but not so much in the story. The story in 2, at least, was melodramatic as all hell.

Part of me was hoping DR3 would has a female protagonist... Ah well.

Also, yeah... The dark gritty brown realism thing. I love DR1 wackiness and campy feeling, that made it awesome. They did away with a lot of it in DR2, and now it looks like it's gone completely here. Then again, we haven't seen much yet, but eh.

I so Fucking tired of Publishers thinking they can get COD Dollars, if they have any basic understanding the people that spend money on COD are going to buy COD, it is that simple, the only way you can get COD money is if Activision stopped making COD. So give up Publishers and make new IPs instead. Hell put me in charge ill work for half the bloated top brass work for and I will not be chasing Call of Duty as there are more markets out there for other games.

First of all, Dead Rising's setting wasn't about the whole whacky "trapped in the mall for 3 days". It was more of a commentary on Consumerism, the average joe's reaction to what is the effective breakdown of society in a small environment. Making the main satire theme more profound will be interesting to see though.
You're implying those two are mutually exclusive?
The first game was wacky. You could dress-up in disco outfits, put goofy heads on zombies, make smoothies, take pictures of zombies that were scored based on being sexy or funny. I don't see how you could make a zombie game any wackier than that. It was doing what Saint's Row now does for GTA.

Also "commentary on consumerism" ? The zombie genre has always been a commentary on consumerism, if anything Dead Rising's wackiness is what enhanced that aspect.

Well yeah, Chuck does go nuts because Katie died. Without her around to give him a reason to live he loses it.

He does and it's really funny when you kill him in Co-Op cause he is the other character.

The city-sized sandbox sounds great but the price was just too high. Then again, we've only seen a fraction of what's on offer and, air-strikes aren't mandatory like any other weapon. With a huge city, I can't help but think Capcom are trying to take a Skyrim approach: sure there will be levity but it'll be stuff that you have to search out...like sex shops and, strip clubs...we also don't know how many of the buildings we're going to be able to walk around in and, explore. If every building can be explored, with limited to no loading in between, then I'd still be interested to play the game.

I was absolutely underwhelmed by the presentation but I'm glad item-crafting is still in while photography is...unaccounted for. I'm going to wait for a fuller picture before I decide one way or another when it comes to a buying choice. If I can wander around the city, with nothing but Zombies to kill and, no time limit to hinder me then I'm down for this. If they introduce a "get out of the city before the nuke drops" or, "get out of the city before CDC mercs gun you down" plot then I may have to stay away from this one.

Also, hopefully, you can use things like smart-glass or the PS4 equivalent to spray-paint shit all over the city. Also spray-paint stuff in general...like for car customization.

It's a Xbone exclusive, so I don't care either way anymore as I'll never get to experience it.

Actually supposedly they've said that by making it super serious looking, it'd heighten the humor where it exists because of the dissonance.

http://www.penny-arcade.com/report/article/xbox-ones-dead-rising-3-is-super-serious-about-zombies-and-that-makes-it-hi

Basically when everything's super serious brown/gray grim/dark, the fact that a guy running through with a brightly colored Blanka head is all the more "WTF?"
