have you ever declared something Non-canon
a series that create a particularly bad sequal that you simply forgot about and pretended the series was already over
im doing this right now the the Ratchet and Clank series who after a stunning and amazing conclusion, are bringing it back as a coop beatem up
im sorry insomiac but your not sucking me into this one
i will go ahead and pretend this one doesnt exist
What? There was no conclusion to that series. Only to the "Future" games which are the first ones to have a story told over multiple games. But the series itself was never meant to be over, the ending of A Crack in Time made that quite clear. I don't know where you got the notion that A Crack in Time was supposed to be the last of Ratchet and Clank for good, but it's quite silly. I also don't know where you're getting your info about All 4 One, but it's not a beat-em up.
That out of the way, my stuff:
There is only one Matrix movie.
The only Die Hard movies are Die Hard and Die Hard With a Vengeance.
They also never made a Home Alone 3 about some other kid being bothered by other villains that aren't as awesome as Harry and Marv.
Isn't it a good thing that The Simpsons ended after just a few seasons? It would have sucked if it kept going on for 20 or more while not being even remotely funny anymore.
There is no such thing as Command and Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight. We're still waiting for a sequel to C&C3 to see if the world gets consumed by tiberium or if we get it under control and take back the planet.
There is no such place as the Johto region in Pokémon and thus certainly no games set in such a place.
The Mega Man X series ended with Mega Man X5, just as Inafune intended.
Dead Rising 2 did not have an overtime mode where you ran around collecting random, pointless crap. (Thankfully, this retcon is fully supported by Capcom themselves. Thanks Dead Rising 2 Case Zero!)
Anyone remember those Sonic the Hedgehog games back on the SEGA Genesis? Those were pretty good, it's just too bad we haven't seen a new one since Sonic & Knuckles came out in 1994.
Speaking of 1994, isn't that also when the last Final Fantasy game came out? #6 I think. It's a good thing Square quit while they were ahead rather than bogging us down with terrible game after terrible game that spent less time being games and more time being movies with each release.
I'm also glad that there isn't a Metal Gear Solid game with Raiden as the main character again coming out.
I wonder why there were no Burnout games after Burnout Revenge. Ah well, at least they didn't make some awful open world game that steals control away from you every 5 seconds. Better no game than that kind of game.

Yup. Technically, the Megaman Zero series is an alternate to X6 and beyond. Anyone who's played 4 will get how.
No, sadly the Zero series altered itself to include things that happened in X6 and beyond.
Originally, Zero was going to be dead at the end of X5 and stay that way until Ciel finds and revives him in in Z1. However, they later decided that Zero coming back for X6 happened, and Zero later seals himself. Then Zero's original body is stolen, Zero is revived in a copy body to help X fight off Weil (guy who stole Zero's original body for his own purposes), and then Zero seals himself AGAIN and stays there until Ciel finds him in Z1.
So sadly, as much as I would have loved the entire Zero series to pretend that X6 and beyond never existed, it clearly embraces those games as canon.
Furthermore I don't know what you think in Z4 says that X6 and beyond never happened. Z3 makes it all quite clear that X6 and beyond did happen, and Z4 does nothing to retcon any of that.

No! That's not my call to make. Only the original creator has the right to declare what is or is not canon, or in the absence of the original creator, whomever is left in creative control of the thing. Whoever goes around declaring things non-canon because they didn't like it obviously has their head stuck so far up their own ass that they now breathe shit instead of air.
Oh settle down man. It's just a different way of saying "what part of a series didn't you like?" I don't think any of us are seriously trying to deny that anything we've said doesn't actually exist. I certainly wouldn't seriously debate with somebody that there is no C&C4 or that Final Fantasy only had 6 games in the series.
Generally I stick with established canon so I don't selectively forget certain episodes. However the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Threshold" where they travel to Warp 10 and turn into lizards is SO non-canon in my eyes. They really wrote themselves into a mess there, and I'm glad it was never mentioned again. I mean Star Trek is well known for having extraordinary technical maguffins and cop outs; in TNG they effectively found a way to reverse the ageing process, and I can't wait to see what the JJ Abrams movies do with "Trans-Warp Beaming". Instant travel to anywhere, and being able to turn a lizard back into a person? Bullshit.
On the subject of Trek I think of Enterprise as Canon (maybe a bit of fuzziness to get it to fit with TOS) and I loved the way they tried to explain why Klingons didn't have head ridges until the Movies.
I know I've read somewhere on The Escapist that "Threshold" actually is officially non-canon (thank God for small mercies).
As for Abrams, although I enjoyed the reboot the whole thing blows established Trek lore to hell. I'm curious to see where he takes it but I see many problems ahead besides the interplanetary transporter. It certainly violates the established canon but maybe it's another looking-glass universe or somesuch. We'll see whether he's got an explanation and whether it's worth bothering with.
I did like Enterprise's explanation for the changing Klingons though. Probably the best thing to come out of the last two seasons.
What is up with all the Indiana Jones 4 hate? How does 2 get a pass and not 4? 2 is the wost Indiana Jones movie ever made, so bad I find it insulting to the audience that enjoyed 1. Crystal skull should be in more than Temple of Doom.
I let the author tell me what's cannon pretty much. Sometimes they destroy their story by doing that but that's why I call them retarded and move on.
The movie that was supposed to wrap up the Fullmetal Alchemist anime, the original one. If they would have just ended it with a short scene or something where one of them said something along the lines of "Hey, look! Maybe we could get back this way!" or something. No, it ended horribly and with bad taste. Yuck. I just pretended I never saw it. If you plan on watching the show, don't watch the movie. The show was great, though.
Eh, the second half wasn't bad, just completely different from the manga, and fair enough, they needed to finish it eventually.
And yeah, the movie was quite horrible.
The three mandalore episodes in SW: Clone Wars
I love the republic commando books, but Lucas decided to do a ret-con, taking away this story (which contributed much needed grey area to the SW universe) so he could make the mandalorians more accesible to kids.
Ok, I can deal.
Wait, Mandalor is called a Duchess now? They're peaceful? She had a romantic relationship with Obi-Wan, a Jedi?
Fuck you Lucas.
*Rereads Republic Commando books with sadness, as the ret-con eliminated any chance of a second Imperial Commando book.

I hope "Threshold" was thrown out of canon. What happened was never mentioned or used again so it's ok.
Also I appreciate Abrams throwing in the "Alternate timeline" thing to give fans something to hold on to, but we all know that it disregards the established lore (like Kirk not being born on Earth, the design of the ships and Uniforms, etc. That happened before the timelines split)
I don't see why they had to reboot the series to make it "new", but I'm getting off track.
damn near all of the Star Wars fiction... after looking at a bunch of stuff on wookieepedia, you wouldnt believe how many characters are cloned or turn evil and whatnot. it makes no sense
The ending well... all 7 of them felt like Pick your own story endings. I kinda like the Choice System where what you did effects the story (Sorta like Colony Wars for the PS1)
But WHOA... the endings and outcomes were laughble only 2 maybe 3 of them could be believed but one ending had Fox McCloud give up flying and Merc Jobs altogether and become a F-Zero Racer.

Though EU stuff isn't strict Canon. It's complicated. Since the "official" stuff like the CGI Clone Wars movie and the TV show (though I've only seen a couple of episodes) are awful the Novels are the only place to go for good Star Wars stories. I'm liking the current Fate of the Jedi series.
Yes, and of course all of the expanded universe novels and Graphic novels. But only three actual movies, is there any actual debate about this point? in 1997 someone killed George Lucas died before he could make those prequels, and so we'll never know how they would have turned out.
