Not nearly enough Johnny Cash here. I'd go with Streets of Loredo, Man in Black, I Hung My Head and The Man Comes Around. Seriously, enough of this emo-style depressing music and more blues stuff.

The Dillinger Escape Plan - "Mouth Of Ghosts"
Maybe. Although a soundtrack to backflip off a stage "accidentally" karate-chopping 6 people on the way down is a better use for TDEP if you ask me.

Although, I have to say I find Hannah Montana pretty depressing as well.

Anything by Starsailor. You know the song at the end of MGS 3? Way To Fall it's called, all their songs are as or more depressing.

All The Lonely People by The Beatles.

Alot of other songs that really wouldn't be depressing for most people are for me. And by that I mean songs that are not supposed to be depressing. Connotations. You know.

Adam's Song by Blink 182 depresses me at times
Blink 182's my favourite band for listening to depressed music.
I dont listen to them for depressing music really. I like their earlier stuff like carousel and Josie etc.

Street Spirit (Fade Out) By Radiohead , that song hypnotizes me somehow....
I just was on Pandora and I was listening to that song except it was by Eliza Lumley.. I'm unsure of which is better.

Many of these songs have a positive tone about the melody, but depressing lyrics. I'm straight going for depressing throughout, Street Spirit is a great example
Ya it really is a lovely song, great finger-picking. I just had to learn how to play it the first time i heard it.
Awww dude when I heard the song I only heard the lyrics-I singled them out. I play guitar, too; that's pretty sweet.

Suicide Note part 1 and Hollow by Pantera. They're both about as sad as thrash metal can get.

I'm in a depressed kind of music mood, and I really want to hear more depressing songs with mellow vocals and piano and stuff. Like Mad World by Gary Jules! If anyone has any songs that are similar to this, please post them.

Also, I just found a band called Summer at Shatter Creek. With lyrics like,

"If life is just a bunch of memories, then what are these?" and "When you've got no one, there's no one to lose."

They are goddamn amazing, please google and listen to them to find out what kind of music they play.
Nin - A Warm Place [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1vxJb6MQ34]
It's instrumental but powerfully melancholic.

Sigur Ros - Glosoli [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zr_MJAOyOeU&feature=fvst]
Sigur Ros are always good, these guys created their own language to write music to.
Extremely beautiful sounds made by using Violin Bows on FX heavy electric guitars.

VAST - You [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X72Dv4svRxI]
Probably in my top 5 most beautiful songs of all time. Still gives me shivers down my spine every time <3

The Fine Art of Falling Apart by Matthew Good

Lyrically, Every Night by Screeching Weasel, though the tempo of the song is fairly upbeat.
