I just listen to this song if things get tough....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kma6yeHY9Sc

I'm just a step away
I'm just a breath away
Losing my faith today
Falling off the edge today

I am just a man
Not superhuman
I'm not superhuman
Someone save me from the hate

It's just another war
Just another family torn
Falling from my faith today
Just a step from the edge
Just another day in the world we live

I need a hero to save me now
I need a hero, save me now
I need a hero to save my life
A hero will save me just in time

I've gotta fight today
To live another day
Speaking my mind today
My voice will be heard today

I've gotta make a stand
But I am just a man
I'm not superhuman
My voice will be heard today

It's just another war
Just another family torn
My voice will be heard today
It's just another kill
The countdown begins to destroy ourselves

I need a hero to save me now
I need a hero, save me now
I need a hero to save my life
A hero will save me just in time

I need a hero to save my life
I need a hero, just in time
Save me just in time
Save me just in time

Who's gonna fight for what's right?
Who's gonna help us survive?
We're in the fight of our lives
And we're not ready to die

Who's gonna fight for the weak?
Who's gonna make 'em believe?
I've got a hero, I've got a hero
Living in me

I'm gonna fight for what's right
Today I'm speaking my mind
And if it kills me tonight
I will be ready to die

A hero's not afraid to give his life
A hero's gonna save me just in time

I need a hero to save me now
I need a hero, save me now
I need a hero to save my life
A hero will save me just in time

(I need a hero)
Who's gonna fight for what's right?
Who's gonna help us survive?

(I need a hero)
Who's gonna fight for the weak?
Who's gonna make 'em believe?
I've got a hero

I need a hero
A hero's gonna save me just in time

I'd say I was very depressed around the summer holidays, always staying up to 5am on my computer, not knowing what day it was and having a lot of arguments with my family.

Although now I'm going to a normal school I've perked up a bit.

Well I hope it works out for you. Unfortunately I will be 28 years old in just over 3 months, I'm running out of time; and I don't know the first thing about dating and I can barely talk to people let alone girls. My prospects don't look good. It doesn't help when you have a younger sister whose already pregnant with her second child and you're... well... let's just say I've never even been to the factory.
Bless but still there is always time. I was a loner. All i did was ask if he was meant to be in my class since it was our first day in college and they had moved the classroom. He looked up at me answered and then said his name. I looked into his eyes and i quote from Breaking Dawn "Steal cables held me" to him.
That is all it takes. A short question, one look and your hooked for as long as you can make it last.

(Congrats on your future niece/nephew) You never know (I hope it does not for her sake and the kids) but your sister's relationship could end at any time as you never know what the future holds sadly.
I just find the older I get the harder hope is to hold on to, and as I already said I'm coming up 28.

I'm clinically depressed, and it's not all about feeling down or miserable, at least not to all people suffering from it, and also, it seems to be a catch all term for anyone who's having a bad day or feeling a bit low.

For me it comes thru more as a feeling of being unable to summon the energy or will to do anything, in fact, I once heard depression as a feeling of having a great weight on you at all times, slowing you down and stopping you from normal actions and life.

Also annoys me that in the UK press, we're the current scapegoats, and that anyone 'depressed' is just acting up to get free benefits, and if you don't have two broken legs you should be down a coal mine somewhere.

Part of the problem being that it is not a 24/7 thing, and some days I can leave the house, go shopping for groceries etc, and look fairly 'normal' and of course, if anyone saw me on those days they'd assume I was fine.

Whenever I'm feeling down about the blame piled on me in this way, I just try to remember I worked full time for 15 years and paid into the system, so I shouldn't feel bad about it.

I think this is the first time I've mentioned this on the site, as I didn't want to give away too much of myself, but this thread just fitted.

I find its best just not to share, although what am I doing, one of the biggest mistakes I have made was telling my friends how I felt because they felt compelled to try and "help" and basically fucked up my life, and now I would be more likely to slit there throats then thank them.

I haven't really been depressed so much that I've thought about suicide. I value my life and all it's beauty too much. But there are times when I've just crawled up in a corner and cried silently. Mostly I've been depressed over having crushes repeatedly. I'm desperate for love, you could say. One time when I was particularly depressed was when I realized that the girl I had a huge crush on could never be mine. I'm still pretty bummed about it, but I've gotten over it pretty much, thanks to some time thinking over it and some soothing music (and by that I mean death metal).

This may be the gin talking (don't ask) but I can't help wanting to track down everyone in this thread and hug them, just to show someone cares. No matter how badly you think of yourself, you each have it in you to change the world, or at least change someone's.

Having discussed depression with many people and analysed my own experience with it I strong recommend people who suspect they might be depressed or know someone depressed should take a look here [http://www.studentdepression.org/warning_signs.php].

To any of you seriously struggling with drepssion and suicidal thoughts I would direct you to Buckminster Fuller [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckminster_Fuller] who became suicidal and depressed and recovered to become a massively successful designer and writer. The story goes that having lost everything "Bucky" decided to treat everything he could achieve or gain as a blessing - freed from the fear of failure or concern for his future he used his talents to great effect.

I was suicidal when I was 11, but never actually did anything since I was afraid of death. (Which, ironically, is why I was suicidal. That always makes me laugh.) I'm no longer suicidal or depressed, but I must say that the only thing mentally linking me to this planet is my significant other. Makes a world of difference to have someone.

Yes! It is real! You can find out yourself by doing many things! Examples include...

Drinking Bleach
Shooting oneself in the face
Cutting your throat
Drinking 3000 bottles of beer in one night
100000000 paper cuts
Watching Kirsten Dunst try to act

Try it today!

Don't feel down on it, my parents met each other and got married at 35, and they have one of the best marriages I've ever seen.

i started thinking about life and went in to deep.

a deep dark hole of depression i got out by anti-depressives (drugs)
that calmed my mind and made me less pessimistic about life.

i now (2years later) value life and see it as a sin to commit suicide, i don,t look down on people who attempt to end it. but i,d wish the,d find a better solution.

you,ll hurt so many people by commiting suicide.

Not really.
Sure I feel like "meh" about our meaningless existence in general, but I make up to that by not taking anything seriously.
I'm not a nice person, but at least I don't even try to be.
As for suicide attempts: never got around to it. I just don't have the time to bruise my ego like that.

When I was younger I used to get depressed quite often, which has turned me into a cold, emotional, asshole. And, despite my best efforts to be optomistic and nice, it has seperated me emotionally from most people.
