Type 1 for the...well, not quite the win...um...howzabout...the conciliatory prize?
And I've never been that sick after being low...and I've been down to 26 before...
The worst for me is when you're incredibly high-as in your meter will not display how high your sugar is, and after you think you've taken care of it, 30 minutes later, you still feel that sandpaper in your joints and eyes, and...eugh. No fun.
What do you mean you've been down to 26, i assume you mean 2.6 and thats nothing, 1.7, *****.

Lol, and btw do you mean the consolation prize?

Meh. I've learned to deal with it and the idiots who automatically assume that "you can't eat sugar."
I'm exactly the same.

No, I mean 26. My target is 120. I think our meters use different scales...I'm using mg/dL.
And the consolation prize is not dying immediately! Yay us!

Hi and welcome. I like the thread name. Will there be a Diabetes: The motion picture as well?? :p
In a world without insulin, will one man find the courage to inject it?

In a movie critics are calling "Slightly Interesting" and "Alright, I Guess", prepare for Tpye 1 thrills, and get ready be injected with a high dose of action, as Samuel L. Jackson is:

The Diabetic.

Coming to theaters this Summer.
how could you debate with a sales pitch like that?

Hooray for not dying.. im so sad.

Yes i think the meters do use different scales, my target is between 5 and 7 and below 4 is a hypo and the lowest ive been is 1.7, which is close to passing out so, that was pretty bad.

My prize is getting out of doing shit in class by saying (in whiny voice) "But miiisss, i was on a hypo!"

Type 1 you get, you can't prevent that

Type 2, just don't be fat.

Me and my friend were talking about things you could get away with by claiming diabetes

"Miss! i wan't to go to mcdonalds! and pay with your money!" "What?! Why?!" "I'm diabetic!" "Oh, fine."

Heh. I use it sometimes to get out of going to classes when I don't really want to go. I can send an email saying my pump is messing up, or my sugar is too high, and I get a pass. That's not to say I abuse it, though.

I was staying at a friends house for tea and stuff, and before it was time to eat, i thought i'd better do my injection stuff, and then realised, i'd left it at home, which then resulted in me running home, grabbing it, running back, and by the time i was back, it was cold and i was getting dirty looks from everyone, including the dog.
Done that many times myself...

The worst is when you go to a restaurant and ask for a diet coke/sprite etc and they give you a regular anyway because they think/assume you are just being difficult and cant tell. Usually putting them on the spot gets them to stop.

My mother (who is 62) was diagonised last year with the kind where you have to watch what you eat. Like she has to have sugarless cookies. I think it's type 2? She didn't eat much sugary food but it's still a life adjustment.

Because of my job, I meet a lot of diabetics who don't listen to the doctor so they have missing toes, faces that look like a cheese grater has been run up and down it, and/or the complextion of a muppet. Again these are people who don't do ANYTHING that they're supposed to.

ARGH.
That has happened to me several times as well. It's bloody annoying, especially when you're at a friend's house which is almost 15km from your house.
Woohoo... go type 1, go.

Meh, same tbh. Probably my only problem with diabetes is that i go on about 2 hypos per day, which is too much and it just fucks me up.

The first diabetic girl i met was called Heather, and she just didn't give a monkeys about her diabetes, seriously, she never took injections, did her count, she ingested sugar like water, i pride myself on being better than that

I knew a girl like that...she left her meter at home when she went off to a summer camp, and I had to let her use my meter until the group leaders went and bought her one at a local CVS.
