actually that is a myth that started when states decided to have tort reform, Ive never found evidence of that actually happening and Ive looked, its one of those stories that is designed to foster distrust of the legal system and generally make it harder to sue, which is both good and bad
Well there are two stories my law teacher told. One is of a robber who won a court case against a family because he got trapped in there house while they were on vacation and had to eat dog food. The second is of a man who thought his Winnebago's (or some other brand) cruise control actually drove the car for him. Now they have to put that in the owners manual.
the first one I would like to see some proof of, the 2nd sounds more plausible but it is entirely possible its one of those urban legends, really never underestimate the urge to lie to people listening too you

No matter how hard you try, you'll never succeed in giving justification to the title.

Why? Just why?

You avatar seems very appropriate for this thread, well done. This seems similar to the same reason why Catcher and the Rye is banned in some schools.

May we just nuke California now, please? It's becoming painfully obvious the people they're all mentally deficient and have nothing positive to give us anymore. -___-

Just so you know, in some states it is a crime to use excessive violence against a burglar in your home. Look up your state's castle laws to be sure.

1. Why is a UK news site reporting on this? Are there any US news outlets reporting this?

2. How many schools are we talking about and what level? Highschool? Elementary? Is it all schools? Then why isn't northern California affected. Yeesh, I thought the British were suppose to be good at jounalism but I see now that, that might only apply to the BBC.

3. It's southern California. I think we all know their reputation by now. They aren't the first to ban books, either, although this does seem to go too far.

Why not just explain what oral sex is to your fucking children? Haven't you had the talk yet? Parents, just bite the bullet and teach your kids about sex. Fuck, just have the "offended" pull their kids out of school and have them live in a tiny sterile bubble for the rest of their life. Fuck does stupid shit like this pisses me off! Your fucking kids aren't as innocent as you think. Trust me, those punks aren't being "corrupted". That happened long ago. If Daniel Webster was still alive he would beat these people to death with his big fucking book.

The dictionary has been banned in some schools in southern California.
The ban results from a parental complaint about their child looking up the definition of ?oral sex.?

no wonder these people want to ban videogames...

Tell us something that just makes you facepalm!
This story is like 9 months old.

It was published in January.

California?

Well. That's just par for the course.
Hey, California is fairly liberal.

Yeah...just a bit.
It's also the most populated, so anything that happens in good ol' Cali eventually trickles down to the rest of the country; whether we want to deal with it or not.

yeah, I remember when bush became gov and did that, allot of those stories listed as false were going around... well similar stories, really the main benefactor of such tort reform is businesses since while it might keep imaginary suits down it can also curb real lawsuits, like in tx under perry they reformed the medical malpractice suits, so now its very difficult to sue a doctor for malpractice since it wont be enough to get most law firms to care

oh and its still illegal to carry a pair of wire cutters in your pocket in tx

That could be a good with the re-legalization of same sex marriage and possibly marijuana. Though, everyone, and I mean everyone, hates the California public school system. With the exception of the officials.
