The dictionary has been banned from libraries & schools in the US before.
The idiot Palin (she who thinks that being able to see across several miles of ocean grants diplomatic & political experience, & who claims to read newspapers but doesn't know which ones), when she was mayor of Wasilla, was instrumental in banning it from Anchorage in '87. In a truly Orwellian nightmare of 1984's heinous Big Brother style, she said it 'contains objectionable words'. Previously in '78 it was banned from Missouri libraries for similar reasons.
For those unfamiliar with 1984: an ultra-fascist dictatorship, upheld by the brutal & psychotic 'Thought Police', imprisons & enslaves not just the bodies but also the minds of the populace by removing words from the language, thus reducing people's ability to even contemplate thinking for themselves.
This is the English dictionary, the single most essential text book for any English speaking student or academic. But then just a few weeks ago weren't they having book burnings in the US? Ironically Fahrenheit 451, a book which criticizes censorship & embodies it as legally compulsory book burning, was also banned until only twelve years ago.

More & more frequently the world looks at the US, the so-called 'Land of the Free', & weeps.
