We should just split California into two states. Northern and Southern California have completely different ideals. It'll make governing the damn thing a heck of a whole lot easier.
Sadly...you have point. These are the same idiots that build their houses in the forest, then can't do a logical control burn..then wonders why there is a state wide (I wish) fire. I'd like to see a law passed that kept those that lived in a natural disaster area there. After all, everyone should know by now; fire bad.Kejui said:Unfortunately, it's more likely that they'll infest the rest of the United States after their own land becomes uninhabitable. You should instead hope that legislation is passed that says if you live in an earthquake zone, and you know you live in an earthquake zone, you have to stay there after an earthquake. No moving.RyuSanada said:Hmm, so that one vote for let the parents do their fucking job.omicron1 said:What.
Banning materials isn't the way to raise a kid. Proper instruction and explanation works much better and is more reasonable. (and if your kid is looking up the definition of oral sex in a dictionary, you're already falling behind)
Seriously, I think if parents actually 'raised' their children right then there would be no issues with banning things. I read the Dictionary as a kid. Hell when I got in trouble, I had to write every word and definition in a random section of it (always hoped for X though). I also played M-Rated games on the Sega (Mortal Combat), and I haven't gone off burning people's face's with acid (Reptile is one of my favorite fighters xD). Hell, I even remember buying Alien on VHS, a Rated R movie, with no parent when I was a kid. It honestly shows that parents are more willing to sit kids in front the 'virtual babysitter' instead of teaching them. Then only get offend after they realize what they bought/showed little Timmy wasn't something he could handle. [/rant]
A.D.H.D. kinda led me off topic, but still on the plus side California is one good earthquake from shaking off the continental US, then we can declare it its own nation to help save some face.
Just shows the idiocy of those people...they actually live where a natural disaster will happen.
Seems to me that 'Southern" anything in the US is pretty much a bad idea. Except southern-fried chicken :3PurpLemons said:We should just split California into two states. Really? I never got a copy of the Koran growing up, nor the Talmud. OR are you saying we *should* place them there? And what about the Atheist holy book? Seems to me that'd be a lot more popular to study... I would say something about hypocrisy but I think it's obvious.
Hey, I'm from Idaho, and as far as I'm concerned California is a different country altogether, lol.A Pious Cultist said:Hurray, more stuff to tease the US members of The Escapist about.
I don't think it's a "California is worse than Texas thing." It seems to be that the south of the U.S. has gone completely, bat shit insane.Canid117 said:Since when was California worse than Texas?
Why not just halve the U.S. Those that want to live in the other half have to pass a psychological evaluation, and then find a trading partner (someone who wants to move to your half) for housing (to be fair). Seems like a good step, to me.PurpLemons said:We should just split California into two states. Northern and Southern California have completely different ideals. Well. That's just par for the course.
Yes, that should have been a should there as well. You got me before I could subtly edit that, darn you! ;PLexodus said:Really? I never got a copy of the Koran growing up, nor the Talmud. The overtly religious parents can be dicks like that, yeah. I've had the same thing happen in a Catholic school setting.Kejui said:Tell that to the parents of students I had that complained to school administrators that I was "preaching non-Christian ideals." I taught a WORLD LITERATURE class and part of that was reading the book Siddhartha (basically Buddhist in message). Prior to the book, I was to do a research paper project and chose the topic of RELIGIONS OF EAST ASIA.ShadowsofHope said:I realize the intention of this comment, but we also place every single religious text known to modern man in those schools as well. Long story short, because of complaints, the assignment became RELIGIONS OF EAST ASIA AND CHRISTIANITY...I still assigned the kids that belonged to those parents religions that were not related to Christianity.
Sadly, I agree with you even though it is a jab at myself. This kind of stupidity overtakes any sense of national pride I felt.A Pious Cultist said:Hurray, more stuff to tease the US members of The Escapist about.
