Did you notice most big games this year have a 3?

With the exception of a few, almost every big game this year has a 3. For example: Mass Effect 3, Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3, Resistance 3, Modern Warfare 3, Killzone 3, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, and even those without 3s like The Last Guardian and Deus Ex: Human Revolution are still the 3rd even without them being a continuation.

So anyone else been noticing this? Also what are your thoughts and feelings on this year having so many 3s?

Well... its 2011, no, wait, that only equals 4. But if you take 2+1-1... no, thats just two. Oh, wait, I know! 2+1*1= 3. Obviously.

Honestly though, it just means companies dont want to take the chance on new things so much as they want to do that trilogy thing thats so popular nowadays (Halo, GoW (Gears and God), um... I think ME3 is supposed to be the last one).

I'm really only excited for one 3, and thats battlefront 3. The only other big number on my radar is 5. As in PERSONA 5!

well the current generation of consoles has been around about 6 years now, and a good game usually takes 2 years to go from development to release, so the maths works out.
but marvel VS capcom is 7-8 years overdue.

No Bad Company is a spin off. Battlefield is the original series.

It is actually just random chance that the third game in so many series is all coming out this year. Currently making new titles is a pretty big risk, so game companies are trying to stick to what actually sells.

And yeah, there's a couple threads about it, and supposedly there was E3 news. and Gameinformer hinted to it (I know, i know). you can find the threads in the gaming section I'm sure.

Well most of those games started this console generation, so it's not really that much of a coincidence. They leave a similar amount of time in between games (pretty standard) and voila!
