My mother would have rather bitten her tongue off, and I didn't get to know my dad until it was too late.

Conceived in N.Y.? you poor man . . . j/k

My mother spoke to me about sex . . . the morning after I lost my virginity . . . and basically it went like this:

Mom: You're having sex now?

Me: yes, . . .

Mom: condoms?

Me: yes . . .

Mom: you are mature . . . don't fuck up son

Me: . . . um . . . yeah . . . thanks?

I was book-smart on sex and reproduction by the age of 9 out of pure curiosity.

I didn't really need talking to.

Not that I actually received the talk, mind.
You needed the talk and then recieved it?
OT: Yes, sadly, dad pulled me aside and explained how the whole reproduction happens.

no, I learned it all on my own and when they started talking to me about it, I just told them to stop since I knew it already.

No, my school friends demonstrated safe and not safe sex with me
No, sex-ed class taught me all I need to know, and my mother never really initiated "The talk."

Yeah, but only after we learned about screwing in 4th grade. On the other hand, I moved to a new school district in sixth grade. This new school district didn't teach about the bang until you were in 9th grade (it was a very conservative town). Hilarity ensued. My parents got a call home from some distressed parents complaining that their kids (who were both in 8th grade, 2 years above me) miraculously found out about how to make love and blamed me for it. Good times.

I learned from books and tv, and these days my mom just gives me money for condoms if I ask nicely enough.

"If you have sex before you are married, your penis will fall off and you will die..." ... is not what my parents told me, but it's what I will tell my children (regardless of gender), to see if they understand if I'm joking. If they believe me, then I judge them stupid, and ban them from sex until they have watched all of the QI episodes ever made (plus, this means I get to buy all of the QI episodes ever made, which is an added bonus for me if I haven't got them by then).

But my parents never told me about it. The school did, and I have to say the videos were hilarious.

Well my parents caught me in the act when I was 15, so if they wanted to I guess they didn't really get that chance. Never mind.

Nope, not once. They would have if I had asked; we keep a policy of "Ask whatever you want, but be prepared to have to hear the answer." but public education got there first.

No, they knew that I had full access to the internet. Besides, we went over that in 5th grade.

My parents gave me the sex talk.
"Do you know what sex is?"
"Yes."
"Do you need birth control?"
"No."
"We can say it's for you're period if you're embarrassed."
"I don't even have a boyfriend yet."
She also thought my idea of waiting til I'm legal was strange and new.

My babysitter showed me adult videos when I was very little, so when my mother and dad attempted, very uneasily, to have this discussion I let them know a few things that I was already aware of (I was about 6) and we went out for pizza.
