I knew the basics at 9, and the details at 12. My mom tried to talk to me when I was 13, until I said "No shit Mom." so she segued from "General Sex 101" straight into "Not Getting A Girl Pregnant/Not Getting A Social Disease That Will Rot Your Johnson Off". She tried, but she was too late.

Somehow, I managed to learn about sex and stay rather naive for a long time. I had a Charlie Brown encyclopedia about The Body as a kid, and that's where I learn that babies start as a sperm and egg. My young mind never wondered how they got together, but my parents never had to give me the "Birds and the bees" talk.

We had the puberty class in grade 6, but that was just a one-day thing. Then in grade eight our school has "Cool Camp" where all the grade eight kids go out for the weekend and learn about sex, drugs, STDs and protection. Even better, is that the 11s and 12s get to teach it. And I will be, this year.

I learned all the important stuff from American Pie.

They taught us all about it in school. We watched hentai iirc. Well, an animation of people having sex, there were no tenticles or anything involved. I don't think my mums even said the word sex or penis or whatever around me before. She knows I was relatively young when I had my first serious relationship and she works at a school so she knew we covered the bases there.
My mum did walk in on the action once before though. As did my best friend, for that matter.
