Some DLC is good some is not. Not all of it was originally on the disk to be unlocked for money later. The AC2 DLC? yeah that was bullshit but some DLC like most of the Mass Effect stuff is truly great.

Secret armoury of general Knoxx for Borderlands has gotta be one of if not the best DLC I have gotten. For the amount you pay, you get to play so much.

Well, I liked Brotherhood of Steel, but that was really just cause of the raised level cap and the fact that I got to keep playing.

This seems to be the consensus of the entire board (myself included), just add Oblivion to that list and you've mentioned pretty much the only games with good DLC on the system, and that's considering the past 4 years worth of content.

If you're patient, you can wait for GOTY editions or Deal of the Week, so the DLC is that much more worth it.

EDIT: Oh yeah, the GTA IV expansions were both pretty awesome as well.

Well pretty much Team Fortress 2.

Class updates, new maps, new game modes, all for the low, low price of $0.

So yeah, that.
Although it's not by definition, DLC typically means it's an optional supplement to a game, by all current uses of the term. TF2 doesn't really count.
Well with the way most publishers are pushing DLC these days, they seem less and less optional as time goes on...
DLC is ALWAYS an option. You control your wallet, not the game companies. The company can make half a game on disc, & the other half DLC. You would still have a choice to buy the DLC or not. Personally, I suggest not buying any game like that to show them they won't make as much money if they do that. Now, you can say "DLC isn't optional IF you want to enjoy all aspects of a game". That would be correct.

I'm with the OP. I want every aspect of my game to be on physical media. I want to be able to bring it with me to a friend's house, play it with him there, loan it to him, sell it to someone else, and even :gasp: play it on a 2nd console without having to ask the company, (via the internet,) may I pretty please play the fun thing I bought?

I bought an add-on pack for Fallout 3 on a disc. I was half way through my 2nd time playing through the game. I was only on level 15 when I decided to check out Point Lookout. I got my butt handed to me. I went back to the main game, leveled up some more, but lost interest before I hit level 20, but hey, at least I can resell my DLC on a disc if I ever want to.

"Keys to the City" DLC for Crackdown was hella fun, but it was free too.

No you actually are in love with the prices you are just lying to yourself. Microsoft is the best, you love them.

Overlord for ME2 is the best I've gotten so far.
This. I found Overlord to be quite the opposite of Bioware's previous DLC, what with them being more or less on the bad side. I actually had fun while playing Overlord.

Actually, Kasumi was pretty good as well. Or rather, it would have been, had it not been $7.

My favorites had to be the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 add-ons, mostly because I got Psylocke, Cable and Carnage (It also came with Magneto and Black Panther.) along with some extra bits of nerdy joy, it may or may not have been worth $9.99 (PSN, I don't have an Xbox anymore.) but I don't mind only because I use the add-ons.

I also liked Dragon Age:Origins for the missions with Shale (Though it was free for a while!) simply put I feel that that character added a lot of comedy to that game along with some amusing situations.

And I'm a bit of a sucker for Rock Band track packs on occasion...But can you blame me, the had Rancid, Offspring and Dead Kennedys there for download. I think those were 2.50-5 each, i don't remember.

And the Arkham Asylum stuff! On the PS3 you can't really beat those.

I think DLC can be good to get but only if you really love the game and don't mind paying a little extra to add to the experience of the game but if you don't feel you need it you really don't.

EDIT: I also liked Saint's Row 2's DLC, though the newest one has some insanely hard missions.

Im personally a fan of free map packs. The best type of DLC and the type I agree with the most. Though Bethesda is right to release extra bits for cash because I feel like I get their games at a steal for what I get content-wise. The COD kids do not deserve 15 bucks (or whatever it cost, I didnt download it) for their mappack... They just be playin tricks.

Also the Red dead multiplayer missions Im super excited to try out. And they be free.

Shivering Isles for TES IV.
I liked the setting, the characters, and the quests more than the original game.

The Pitt, Broken Steel, and Point Lookout for Fallout 3.

Overlord for Mass Effect 2

Bring Down The Sky for Mass Effect 1

Zombie Island for Borderlands.

Many Mods and Maps for games on PC (Imagine Warcraft 3 without them)

I actually enjoy a lot of DLC. So many in fact that I think I can actually make a top 5 list.

5.Bring Down The Sky (Mass Effect)
4.Hoth (Star Wars: The Force Unleashed)
3.Raising Hell (Overlord)
2.The Lost and Damned (GTA IV)
1.Dragon Age: Awakening (Dragon Age Origins)
