I wish this was a poll. I'd throw in with the 'she's gonna be ugly' crowd. Also the crowd that wasnt endeared to her personality, as other members of this forum seem to have a hard on for.

And yet she can remove her entire suit to have sex and still be fit for combat less than a day afterwards. It's so painfully obvious that the Tali romance was a last minute addition.
I don't recall her saying either of those and I've played both games through multiple times.

That said, a couple things:
1) It is entirely implied that they had sex but nowhere in the game was that actually confirmed. For all we know it could have been just a heavy make-out session.
2) Tali's romance is by FAR the most developed one in the entire game so I'm not sure where people are getting the "last minute addition" vibe.

I thought the Tali romance fit into the game flawlessly and that it was completely plausible.

Very much so.

While I defended earlier, I admit found that they retconned the Quarians quite a bit and was actually shocked that, while on their ship in sealed suits, the Quarians were all in suits as well. Later detailed that they spend their lives from about the start of the teens in suits even on the flotilla. I suspect a retcon to maintain the secret of their appearance.

All I meant was that some steps were taken to try and explain it away and, frankly, I'm happy they did it. As far as I'm concerned, and this is just personal opinion, the choices were: A woman who managed to have a superiority complex AND an inferiority complex at the same time, for the same reason, a mass murderer who managed to make the Krogan-in-puberty seem collected by comparison, and just-out-of-college/pilgrimage-trying-to-make-it-in-the-world young woman with a bit of a martyrdom/resigned streak. Wasn't a hard choice.

All that said, if they ever do show the Quarians, I suspect that those above were right in that they'll probably look like elves, likely with skin colour the colour of their masks (blue, purple, black). So, yes, I do think Tali will look good if they show her.

Bioware does know how to make... DAT ASS!

Bastilla, Handmaiden, Ashley, Tali, Liara, Femshep, and best of all: Miranda!

I want to work as a character designer for those people.

EDIT: and somebody explain how Tali got a Russian accent in the first place? She is an alien!

Oh god, that photo! augh!

I liked Tali better than any other female companion. Liara was silly, Ashley was a xenophobe (side note: "boomstick" was the Africans' name for the weapons Europeans carried during the Age of Exploration and slave trade. Therefore, Ashley is racist too :) ), Miranda was too up-tight, and Jack was fucking nuts. It really is a no-brainer.

Even though you get to see more of the other's rocking bodies (sans Jack, that isn't a body in any effeminate sense. I think her character was meant to appeal to players looking for more rough-edged NPCs), Tali just has a great personality, and that alone is enough to let me forgo the other more immediately appealing options.
Actually, her "boomstick" remark was a reference to Evil Dead. she and the main character share a name, Ashley Williams. pic-http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/marveldatabase/images/thumb/5/50/Ashley_J._Williams_(Earth-818793).jpg/200px-Ashley_J._Williams_(Earth-818793).jpg

That is a bold-faced sexist falsehood. I don't care whta Tali looks like. It's her personality that matters to me.
Naaaww^^

Don't worry tho, I was only joking =p. If I told you I had a huge crush on Daniel Jackson in Stargate SG1 becuase of his personality, would you believe me? =D

Quarians and Turians are 'dextro-protein' species while humans, asari etc. are 'levo-protein' species. No idea what that means on a biological level though.
Basically, the amino acids that make up a "dextro-protein" are arranged around the central carbon atom the opposite way that a human's are. A compound with a different chirality [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chirality_%28chemistry%29] might do nothing to a human, or it might have serious effects (like the complications with thalidomide). Every protein on Earth has left-handed amino acids, but it's pretty much just an arbitrary thing as far as I know. There's no reason right-handed amino acids couldn't happen elsewhere.

Short version: It doesn't mean any two species would have much in common just based on their amino acids.

Its last minute because through the entire first game almost every conversation about the quarians implied that they need to keep their suits on to survive. Even on the Migrant Fleet, the only time they can take off the suits is to reproduce, and even then they have to do it on incrediably sterile ships.

Plus, even in Mass Effect 2, there are plenty of situations which state that quarians wneed their suits on to survive.

Hilarious picture...
I hate the way that the default Shepard looks. It's too stupid-looking.

As for Tali... I don't think she's hot, but I think Bioware will give her a cute face for Mass Effect 3; kind of like Liara.
She was chosen as the love interest for my first game because she's more interesting than the other choices.

Why even have a Love Interest then?

And again I have to repeat myself. She took loads of antibiotics and herbal supplements to be with Shepard. The good doc also recommended Shep to completely sterilize before doing the deed.

Again, you need to realize that she still got sick even after doing all of this. Yes, if Quarians take their suits off without the neccesarry protections they can die due to illness. If they take the neccesarry protection then a major cold is what they will get.

Your example with a Quarian in his prime getting sick because his suit was barely "scratched" is also flawed. The man was shot, his flesh was probably scratched or he had a deep wound depending on whether the bullet penetrated or not. It's obvious to even the most stupid mind that if you have no immune system and you have even a scratch the chance of infection is 100%.

Also, the weapons do not use conventional bullets so the argument that the heat of the "bullet" prevents infection does not count here since he was not shot with a bullet.

Well she doesn't say that she is planning to kill Garrus. She says that she has already planned out ways to kill Legion, which is just as bad.

As for the second quote, she says that aboard the Migrant Fleet. If you tell her that her desire to reclaim the home world is futile, she goes off on a rant about how much life sucks for Quarians because they have to stay on the Migrant Fleet. She links this all back to the Quarians weakened immune system. She says that they can't properly enjoy life just because of it. In fact, her justification for wanting to take the home world is that it won't take as long for Quarians to readjust to the environment. She wants thousands of Quarians and Geth to die because they have weak immune systems.

So yeah, the big rant of hers makes it sound like the lack of an immune system is a really big problem. But apparently it isn't. All you have to do is take some anti-biotics before having inter-species romance and you'll be ready to slay space bugs the next day with nothing more than a cough!

It just happened; and I wanted to my character to have a love interest. At first it was going to be Kelly Chambers, but I saw spoilers...changed a few things and ended up with Tali.

Ah, now this makes sense. Last minute, to me and I think I speak for many here, implies that you thought that the game was a month to the shipping date and someone at Bioware said: "You know what? Let's make Tali boink-able." Hence the confusion.

I think that everyone agrees, however, that the Quarians went through a fairly major retcon between games one and two.

Heh, that reminds me what that one Krogan said about the Asari.

God, there was a lot of great sexual humor in Mass Effect 2. Cue Salarian bachelor party! [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SedyidNrfPc]
