Do we really need a Fable 3?

Well, if they can fix all the things that were sh*t about the first two:

1.Broken moral choice system

2. Fickle, amnesiac villagers

3. Character's wonky metabolism (why does eating 1 pie suddenly make me fat?)

4. Give us a reason to want to get married and have children

5. Better writing (at least TRY to make me care about these characters [this applies to 4 as well])

6. give us a reason to want to buy every property in the land (there's no benefit in 2 aside from more useless money that you presumably store in a giant tower so that you can swim in it like an magical-sword-wielding Scrooge McDuck)

If all these things are fixed, then I'd gladly jump on board for Fable 3

Personally I would rather Peter Molyneux should focus all his efforts into making BC and abandon this whole Milo nonsence(FOR CHRISTS SAKE YOU LEAD A TRIBE OF CAVEMEN IN IT AND FIGHT DINOSAURS LIKE IN ONE OF THOSE OLD CAVEMAN MOVIES FROM THE 50'S WITH THE BAD STOP MOTION ANIMATION DINOS IN IT!!!!! THERE'S NO WAY IT COULD NOT BE AWESOME!!!!)

But it doesn't look like thats going to happen. From what I understand Fable 3 is going to be you playing as a king/queen. So it looks like it will have some city building sim/RTS elements. I'm guessing if it does have real time strategy parts thats what the Natal support would be for. Since in theory it looks like you can use the Natal like one of those keyboards in minority report, it would actually make a console RTS viable. If thats the case part of me wants it to be a huge success so that way we could have more console RTS's on Xbox. And my dream of playing an RTS like I'm using one of those computers from Minority Report would come true.

Fable is more like an RPG for people who hate RPG's. And there definately seems to be a market for that.

Do we really need a Spiderman 4/remake/revitalisation/what ever makes sony sleep at night

No. But you're getting it anyway
Actually we DID need a Transformers 2. What it didn't require was Megan Fox's "acting" ability. She could have just stood there for three hours and said nothing and I think the movie would've been 80% more entertaining.

As for Fable 3...it is not rrequired. I was fit with just Fable (and it's 8 hour story. And my friend said I beat it slow haha.) Seeing Fable 2 as a golden opportunity to revive what kind of DIED in my heart, I picked it up and played it.

And I was further dissappointed...
She could have been Nekkid as well during that event :3

OT: Fable 2 was not a bad game at all it just didn't meet it's hype that's all

Fable 3 if not hyped might actually be liked by a lot of you
Damn I must be slipping in my old age...I didn't even think about the nekkid possibilities.

If Fable 3 lacks the hype, I'll probably enjoy it. I just hate it when games are blown to some disgusting proportion so they look like the aborted child of Lou Ferrigno and Sigourney Weaver...

The first Fable was fun, as was The Lost Chapters, but the general track record that Lionhead and Mr. Molyneux have of hyping a game to hell and back before release suggests that we all take whatever claims they make with a copious mountain of salt. They claim it will have "revolutionary NPC interactions" and I will brace for it to be like Oblivion, only shallower.

I don't think the franchise "needs to die" as some have put it, but I do think that we need to stop expecting greatness of it and just be content with a silly little action-RPG that lets us kick chickens and give people the finger after they're offended by our farting.

Look it's simples yes. You like Fable buy Fable 3, you don't like don't buy Fable 3. If it isn't good people will stop buying it and it will disappear. These threads seem so silly it's simple Economics. If they aren't making money they won't be making the game as it is. Just look at IW. They sold their dev soul and basically ripped up their manifesto with MW2 on the realism side so if people can make money off of it and it is lucrative. They will.

I just replayed Fable 2. I didn't hate it as much this time, but I still can't say I'm a fan. It's an ugly game. Not graphically, but the whole design of the game is ugly (intentionally in most ways, I know, but I still don't like it). There was never a point in the game where I saw something that warranted a pause just to look.
But as I said, many things are shallow about this game. It's very much a game that tries a lot but masters nothing.
Conversation, if you can call it that consists of banal dialogue by other characters, to which our character can make some inane gesture in response.
Customization. There isn't much to choose from as far as clothes go. Hair and beard options fare a little better. The worst part about trying to make a character unique is combat related. The game is designed so that it makes little sense to try to master one category (Strength, Skill, Will) but almost forces you to have an even combination of all three. This kills the replayability of the game.
Jobs are boring. I know real life jobs are often boring, but this isn't real life. And if you try to tell me that Molyneaux was trying to make this like real life, I will Play Dead in disagreement.
The good/evil, pure/corrupt aspects of the game work I guess. They don't affect anything in a big way though.
Even fighting is often boring, as it offers no challenge anywhere in the entire game.
The final fight we all know about. But really the game lost me far before I got to it.
Theres also the illusion of an open world, where its really just a set of mostly linear paths.
So much wrong.
That said, go ahead and make a Fable 3. I just won't be playing it.

Considering that both of the first games sold incredibly well and are both critical successes (average scores of 85 and 88 for 1 and 2 respectively), why not?

I'm looking forward to it. I loved Fable II. Even if you didn't, no one is going to force you to buy Fable III. It's not like the world is better off without it.

We gave them a chance with Fable II and it sucked. I'll judge a game by it's predecessors before it comes out. Or maybe Molyneux can have his company actually make something revolutionary already like he's been saying for almost a decade now. Him trying to be the U.K.'s Will Wright is really getting old.
If you were in charge of Lionhead, would you pass on the opportunity to cash in a huge amount of money, and try to make a great game in the process? I don't think so.

Molyneux is a man of visions and he has a lot og enthusiasm, and I greatly respect him because of that. Sure, the Fable series hasn't been revolutionary thus far, and the next one probably won't be either, but how about stop complaining and find a game you like instead?

Whining on future releases based on previous titles is, in my opinion, stupid. I like to try them out for myself instead of following the crowd around.

Bottom line, though, is that you're perfectly entitled to your own opinion, just as I've expressed mine on this matter. If you judge games like that, fine; don't buy it. You might be missing out on something good now and then, however.
I'd like to stress that I don't mean to be condescending towards you if my reply sounds somewhat negative.

Well, I'll judge this particular title because of what I've seen when it comes to Lionhead's handling of the series. I can expect the same cheesy dialogue with NPCs, the same stupid actions like "farting", and "blow kiss". I can also expect the same simple one button combat system. The only thing I see different is that you become King of Albion and have to run around keeping your subject happy.(A.K.A. mindless and monotonous side quests). And I expect to be able to complete this "vast and arduous" quest in 8-10 hours just like the last two installments. The thing that I can't predict about this game is how well it will use Natal, as they are planning to implement Natal into Fable III.

Judging games isn't necessarily all bad. This is why I don't jump in and buy a movie based video games. Unless it's a completely new IP or a reprisal of sorts, you can usually tell if a game is going to be mediocre, crap, or great. Fable III isn't bringing anything new to the Fable series from what we're seeing. Being the "King of Albion" seems to be another way of saying. "Longer side quests for more 'good' points". And I'll do like you said and find a game I like and play the hell out of it, but this discussion question was put up here for this very reason. For me and you and other "Escapists" to chat it up about this game. I may not agree with your veiws but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

i just hope it follows the rule of three games. good game followed by downgrade folled by a better than the original. in all honsetly though, if you don't like it, don't buy it. unless peter Molyneux holds a gun to your cock telling you to buy it (more likly than it sounds) i don't like Molyneux cause he's a bit of a tit, but that doesn't put me off his games, cause i have fun when i play them. althoug if the PC gets sold out again i may just have to kill someone.

At the risk of sounding like a complete mark, I am REALLY looking forward to fable 3 but I can understand why people would be apprehensive.
I've heard rumour they're making up to five.
I think 3 would be good but the series should die there

I don't like the way fable 2 was made more casual, but I'll still buy the third, and maybe I will be pleasantly surprised.

The second wasn't as good as the first but both are in my top 10 list of games (what can I say, something about the fable games really appeals to me).

I guess we'll just have to agree on disagreeing, then.

Thanks for the discussion, my good sir.

[sub]I liked the cheesy dialogue, though...[/sub]
