I can't really say I've cared what other people care about what I listen to. However, I respect their individual tastes and if they ask me to change it (if it is indeed bothering them) I do. I'm a metalhead myself but I'll listen to anything that requires talent.

Not at all. I love a wide variety of music, some of it so mainstream people on mars have heard it, some so tiny and local the band has one other fan, and it's their mum. Everyone irl knows what I like. It's not like I am ashamed of it.

A small sample of bands I like: Machine Gun Fellatio, My Chemical Romance, Shihad, The Bravery, The Panics, the Dresden Dolls, Cruel Sea, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Thursday, Mindless Self Indulgence, The Galvatrons, Flogging Molly, Nancy Hazard... It's mostly punk and rock and it's good fun.

I tend to listen to mostly Pop, R&B and Dance music. (but I like at least a couple of songs from almost all the genres I can think of)

I don't get a lot of hate for this because its basically 'popular' music that a lot of people listen to.

But I find at a place like a gaming forum it's enough to get yourself decapitated. =P But no, it doesn't bother me and I don't care, some people find my music to be "annoying repetitive noise?" Well I find most rock and metal music to be too loud and shouty with singers that all sound whiny. So there. =P People are allowed to have different tastes and to voice that. As long as we don't judge each other on the type of music we listen to, it's all good.

The only time I get comments about it in the real world is by some of the guys poking fun at the fact that my particular tastes are pretty girly. Which they are. That doesn't bother me either because I know it isn't serious.

I mainly listen to rock classics and older punkrock and hardcorepunk. I don't really care what they think about it, but when I'm at work I try to pick out some of the softer rock. After all, I have to work with these people and that's hard to do when they continually ***** and moan.

I do not get mad if someone doesn't like my music but I will be disappointed because I could spend hours with them talking about the music and the groups :D

(needless to say nobody I know likes my music :C)

Stuff I quite like is:
Daft Punk
Horrorcore
Red Hot Chilipeppers
Yellowcard
Reel Big Fish
Powerman 5000
Everyone and their mom likes RHCP around here. To me I never really 'got it', but I do occasionally enjoy their catchy radio singles I have to admit.

I will change the song if its too vulgar or whatever and someone sensitive is around but other than that I dont care what people think of what I listen to. What really bugs me is when people are closed minded about what it is *I* listen to. I give other peoples music a fair shot, but when they ask me what I listen to and all I can think to say is 'metal' I always get lumped in with 'oh its just noise' or 'oh so you like disturbed and lamb of god?' ummm no... I dont :(

Hence why I would keep the avatar I now have, despite some people attempting to use it against me in arguments (though at that point, they've already lost, since they are resorting to insulting my taste in music.)
...Wait, what? People do that? You've gotta be kidding me...

Personally, I am slightly self-conscious about what I listen to around other people. Basically, if I'm listening to something like this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66PdkSfYG2M] or this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mljdpRp41I4] and someone gets within earshot, I'll either turn it way down or seitch to something like this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-bSZhJjJ-g] or this. I think, deep down, I kind of do. It's what usually compels me to not mention that I still like some of N'Sync and Linkin Park's stuff, that Britney Spears has done exactly four songs that I like (Baby One More Time, Stronger, Toxic, and Circus), that I really like the songs "Welcome to the Black Parade" by MCR (I had to defend myself in karaoke over this one) and "Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence. I absolutely refuse to disavow my listening to the Backstreet Boys, though.

Also, my tastes run predominantly to J-pop/rock (Ayumi Hamasaki and Hikaru Utada forever), power metal (Dragonforce and Blind Guardian forever), and video game soundtracks (Nobuo Uematsu and Daisuke Ishiwatari forever), so it's probably lucky I don't have many people to listen to my music in the first place.

Lol, I'm so paranoid about who takes a peek at the contents of my iPod. My tastes are all over the place though. I'll go from Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, to Streetlight Manifesto, to Matchbox 20 (something like that). Everything's from left field in comparison to everything else. Music theory does make it hard to swallow some of the most recent pop/top 40 stuff lately. It all kinda sounds the same. :(
Stravinsky rocks, by the way...and I'm not just saying that because it was my favorite music from Fantasia. Might I recommend some of Gustav Holtz's "The Planets?"

I have enough respect for people to not interrupt their conversations or disturb the peace, so I do turn it down or change a track if I think someone might not want to hear it. Do I care what they think of my Mastodon, High on Fire, Electric Wizard, or anything else I listen to? No.

"The Planets" are made of pure awesome. Especially 'Mars: Bringer of War'. I can't hear that song and not think of 21 and 24 from Venture Bros. It doesn't help that I played that song in marching band years before they used it for that intro.

Yeeeep.
"also nice picture fag," etc.
It gets...trying.
Also, that is somewhat understandable.

Somewhat.
Nice picture fag.

...

No, seriously, Warning is one of my favourite albums.

Personally, I prefer Jupiter. But that is likely due to it being the first I'd listened to.

I don't care what people think about my music, because I listen to so many different kinds. Honestly, if someone has an issue with it, they'd either be standing to close to me as I use headphones, or in my room. Either way, they're encroaching on me, so they should go away.

Jupiter is probably my favorite when I don't want to feel like clobbering someone, which is most of the time (I'm normally a very passive guy). Mars gets you pumped up and Jupiter makes me almost weep. Such an amazing song.

It doesn't come up much because I listen to a large variety of music. But I can't stand musical elitists. Yes, I listen to weezer and the killers and other things like that. Does that make me an idiot? Nay I say my good man.

Nay.

I am very proud of my music taste, though I tend to consider myself to have better than average taste, but then again, I consider that about msyelf in alot of areas. Probably cause popular things annoy me.
I usually actually try to play my music loud enough so people around me hear it through my headphones.
