They joined the game, they knew they would die, so no.

But on single player, I like to give the enemy names and back stories, so Some times I feel bad for killing Timmy. Now his 6 kids will be orphaned and starve. Why, Timmy, Why?!?!

Never. The tears of noobs sustain me.

Also, ending killing sprees is soooooooooooooo satisfying, so definitely not.

so is this possibly a manifestation of the fact that you never get kills? not meant for a low blow or anything i'm just curious as to how good you are at these online games. because i've piled up so many corpses in halo 3 that they mean nothing to me anymore. they used to. they used to be a person that i killed. now they're just points.

After a 20 minute or so feud with one guy who was trying to farm different mobs in the same area I made peace with a guy and actually got him to kill a really obnoxious friendly, which is the closest thing to the original question that comes to mind.

I sometimes do when I repeatedly stalk the same guy as a spy in TF2. They eventually get upset, and either claim to start watching their backs more (which means they look backwards as they run out of spawn) or they leave. I get sad when they choose the latter option.

Are you kidding? No, of course not, you made the post. If it had been a poll, yours would be the only vote in the Nay column. Online Multiplayer pvp is strictly for putting other people in their place. And by place we of course mean testicles-to-the-face. I don't even feel guilty in moral choice games when I choose to butcher innocents. Hell in fact I LOVE those moments, I spend hours in sandbox games seeing how many civilians I can rip apart with my fists or crush with a vehicle. If a GTA MMO were to ever be released I'd probably never stop playing.

Is it weird that I only feel bad about killing NPCs rather than other players? I mean, when it's another player, it's like, "whatever, that's the game," but an NPC just feels like an act of cruelty.

No. Grab a shotgun and give anything that moves an extra couple of orifices, thats what I say.
I like you.

I've never felt bad for getting a kill, unless it's particularly epic, then I feel bad for his ego.

Sometimes, but then their buddy hits me in the back with a Rocket or some other heavy weapon.

Gotta stop mourning over the body.

If i just completely destoryed, owned, pwned, teabagged, and disgraced him as a human begin by killing him in such an awesome way, I would feel pretty bad for him.
Only time though

Wow this is new.

I've felt bad for the homeless. I've felt bad for my school janitor. I've even felt bad for lobsters and crabs.

But online multiplayer?.....
...
No, not really.
my dad is a school janitor and he makes more money than alot of the teachers.

videogames are meant to make people emotionally dead so the goverment can easily control ur life and make u into perfect killing machine that doesn't fear death, veiws killing as a game and has very good dexterity in ur fingers for easily looting enemy bodies for rations and ammunition for there pointless wars...

I kill anyone who gets in my way... until they kill me.

So no, I feel no remorse about killing someone online. Split-screen is a little different because I have to see them be sad because I killed them.

I've never felt like it in multiplayer, afterall, multiplayer games are all about killing.
Kill or be Killed.

In a games story, there have been times where i've felt bad for killing an enemy.
